Men's rain jacket that's actually waterproof
I have a 66° North raincoat. Looks great and vented at the back so fine for just doing normal things like walking around town or walking the dog around the block. Nordic brands make great looking raincoats. People seem too fixated on "outdoor" gear nowadays with Gore-Tex or similar technology like they're climbing a mountain or doing a 30 km hike everytime they leave the house instead of just walking to their car or picking up a package.

A list of BIFL not made in the USA
I'm so glad to see 66North on this list, and NOT Canada Goose! 66North is a cool company. They will repair anything they've ever made. They've been using RDS down and Saga furs for a long time. Their flagship parka is about $700 cheaper than the Expedition and it's much better. The shell is Cordura instead of CG's proprietary. The fur is silver fox fur instead of coyote. The down is 800 fill power 90% down instead of 625 fill power 80% down. It's machine washable. It's also lighter and looks better in my opinion. I've been acquiring 66North pieces for years since I started visiting Iceland. From skiing to standing around on a tarmac in northern Greenland, their stuff has been rock solid.

No personal experience but I’ve heard good things.

What material water-resistant jackets are most breathable?
Great point about the seams as my Westcomb jackets are and have been great. Have not had the opportunity to wear my 66 North jacket too much yet. And I am surprised too about it not being more popular. Folks spend a fortune on Arc stuff and ‘gucc for that matter but you rarely hear folks talking about Powershield or Neoshell when it really did feel like an epiphany the first time I wore it in bad weather.

What material water-resistant jackets are most breathable?
Pretty sure the price of the fabric has been a factor. A few years back Patagonia released two Powershield Pro jackets in the Kniferidge and Northwall and they are killer. That said, they cost around $500 or so when released. Recently got my gf a Northwall from Worn Wear and it is awesome. Westcomb was an amazing Canadian brand that if memory serves got its start doing OEM work for Arc’teryx. They offered some great Neoshell pieces and other mostly Polartec fabrics and it was all made in Canada. Unfortunately, the ‘Rona took the company out. I recently got a 66 North Snaefell that is Powershield Pro (new Pro) that replaces the Neoshell model. If I understand this correctly, Powershield Pro has kinda become Neoshell. That is Powershield Pro has become the flagship fabric for Polartec.
