  Washing Machine buy it for (a good part of) Life - Miele vs Bosch (Europe)

  It doesn't matter too much. We bought a AEG recently after our old AEG gave up after 12yrs. The technician pointed out that "cost / expected lifetime" is about in line whatever you buy. AEG = 10-12 year Bosch = 12-13 years Miele = 15 years

  Request: Best all-in-one washer dryer combo -- one unit does both

  I have a AEG unit with heat pump. It's slow, but it washes and dries very well. Super happy with it. Not sure if they sell those worldwide. AEG is an Electrolux brand so maybe it's sold under a different name.

  How are ventless dryers?

  We've got AEG 9000. This brand is less expensive than Miele, but it still works well, fully dries out a large batch of clothes in 2-3 hours. Although with ventless dryers you have to remember to clean the lint filter after or before each use (takes 1 min)

  How are ventless dryers?

  Heads up. You will get 2 very different opinions because some people’s experience is with the new heat pump condenser dryers and some people’s experience is with old style resistive heat condenser dryers. The old dryers were expensive to run and did not dry well. The new heat pump dryers are way more efficient. Dry well. Do it pretty damn fast. That said the new style is harder to clean out built up of fuzz (a task that was simple in the OG condensers) and because they are new, there remains some concern about longevity (not talking 2-5 years. Talking 15-20 years longevity) Keep in mind that the heat pump dryers are mostly an European product so look for Miele or Electrolux. Miele will last longer but is pricier. Source: former American living in Europe now. Currently staring at my AEG (an Electrolux brand) washer/dryer stack.

  [UK] Washing machine - not going MIELE so Bosch or who else?

  I'm in the UK and do casual appliance repairs. I have an LG, they still use split drums and parts availability is generally really good. Our last one died (at 10 years) because the spider broke and sadly my wife didn't mention the unusual sound until it was too late - it had a pretty hard life with us, 18 months of almost daily nappy washes etc. The only thing I can really complain about with LG is the continued use of spring washers for the counterweights - easy to fix when they loosen, but daft in this day and age to be using such an unsuitable fixing. Generally I recommend Bosch/Siemens and Electrolux/AEG/Zanussi (appreciate your experience has been negative) as they have become really good with spares recently. I've done control board replacements for reasonable money with factory replacement parts in the past few years - no special account or messing around needed

  Looking for a washer-dryer – is the AEG 9000 series worth it?

  I bought the AEG 9000 series (9 kg wash / 6 kg dry) at the end and I honestly love it so far! It’s super convenient having both washing and drying in one machine – really saves space and effort. Everything’s been working great, and the wash/dry results are spot on. The only downside I’ve noticed: it doesn’t have WiFi/app connectivity. I assumed it would, but apparently only the smaller machine in the 9000 series has that feature – I didn’t realize that before buying. Not a dealbreaker at all, but yeah, would’ve been nice to get notifications or control it remotely (especially to avoid forgetting laundry). That said, I’m still really happy with it overall – and it’s way less expensive than Miele, which was my other option. So definitely no regrets!

  Washer and dryer combo? (Do I need to know sizes too?)

  None will be BIFL now. If you want longevity - look into Miele & AEG. If you want something mediocre (which I’m happy with at the moment) - look into brands like Samsung. It connects nicely with a designated connector - e.g. WW80T washer + SKK-UDW connector + DG52 dryer. Other brands should also have connectors to build a tower.

  Need suggestions for quality washing machine that will last and support a high laundry volume family with small kids

  I really like our AEG LF62CS86 ProSense (had to look the name up on [this website](https://wasmachine.com) where I found the reviews for it). It's made for big families with a good 8kg drum size, and it changes the washing cycle based on the load, which means you can get through heavy loads more efficiently. It's simple, built to last, and doesn't have any of the extra tech you see these days. We're very happy with it.

  Bosch is the same basically as AEG or Siemens Just get the cheapest one of the 4 main German brands. We’ve got a Miele and have had Siemens and Bosch. All much of a muchness.

  What niches/crucial things to critically consider when hunting for a new refrigerator outside of main points like preferred type, dimensions and capacity?

  When it comes to fridges that last, there is one general rule: It must be white and boring. Simple no frills. And be from a reputable maker with a long heritage in the USA or Europe. Don't buy Korean or Chinese.
