  What are the up-and-coming companies known for quality goods?

  I've had my original Aer Duffel Pack since August 2016. Initially I used it to carry a laptop, clothes, shoes, and other crap on my 10 mile bike ride commute to and from work. That went on for about 2.5 years. Ever since then, no more biking, but I still used it almost everyday to lug around a work laptop and gym stuff. Over the years, it also goes with me on flights and travel. The only issue I've ever had was the elastic ties (which are attached to the zips) breaking. The zips and zippers themselves have had no issues. In late 2019 I received it to customer service about it and mentioned the 10 year warranty, and they sent me new replacement elastic ties at no cost to me. Overall, it's been an amazing 20L pack. Highly recommend their products.

It ticks all the boxes and makes all my previous bag solutions obsolete. Put that into any comparison site you want and you'll find a good set of options (i.e. google "AER City Pack Pro 2 vs ..." and see what autocompletes.) I've one bagged this for business travel for a week. It works well enough. I have triple laptop-ed it when I need a mac and PC for work but also want to bring my personal laptop for non work stuff. The work mac goes in the protected drop proof section, work surface laptop in the smaller second suspended section, personal laptop in the drop unprotected third space between the two. Heavy, but worth it when I need it. Pretty good access to the things you need regularly. Overall I can't see myself continuing to look for something better. This has solved my needs.

  Aer Aesthetic and function. Had mine over three years now and still in great condition. Mon-Fri for work and some weekends for travel. Minimalistic design for professional setting. Lots of compartments and pockets. YKK zippers working smoothly. Been browsing other Aer bags for different needs.

  If you’re using it for school, Swissgear makes affordable, versatile backpacks with a lot of pockets for one thing or the next. I had one that lasted me 10 years before starting to rip. Ogio makes really good backpacks for office and school too. Mines lasted 5 years so far with a good amount of abuse and weight. But I find their stuff to be more expensive. There are plenty of other options that make more specialized backpacks. Outdoor/travel brands: osprey, north face, Cotopaxi. Travel specific: aer, tortuga, matador, evergoods,: the list goes on. I find these aesthetic but I think I would have preferred the extra pockets and all where I find these other brands make really nice bags for large compartments with some organization pockets that might be good for minimal use of office supplies and more packing space. Some of the smaller commuter backpacks might be good to use for school. But I still love my Ogio renegade for standard use with way too many pockets. I have a glasses case on top for my safety glasses. Two zip pockets on each side for everyday carry stuff. Water bottle pockets. One of the water bottle pockets holds zip ties and twisty ties. Laptop and folders of course. Main pocket holds all my bulky stuff. Two secondary pockets: one holds all my Office supplies. The other holds flatter objects that I need separated from everything else for one reason or the next. Unfortunately this is padded which you don’t like.

  My wife bought me the AER duffle Pack 3 as a birthday gift about 10 years ago. I use it every day for the office and as a gym bag and traveled with it weekly when I had a job that demanded travel.   I just got 2 different AER bags recently and the comuter compartment of both easily can handle what you want. There is one padded slot and then for some reason a huge tall space that in not padded on the bottom? I cut a slice of foam for the bottom of that slot and slid my 16" monitor right in there in both packs while my 14" MBP sits in the sleeve pocket. Im betting that the AER bags are all similar in this compartment space? Not sure why they are made this way and Ive not seen any review mention it but it seems fine for 2 devices or more to me but I foamed the bottom for obvious reasons on my own. Otherwise they are crazy well built bags too.

Bonus: it’s built like a tank and has a lifetime repair guarantee, which is rare these days. If you prefer something sleeker for urban travel, the **Aer Travel Pack 3** is a great choice — very well-organized and professional-looking. Not cheap, but it feels like it’ll last forever. Also worth checking Facebook Marketplace or REI Garage Sale — sometimes you can score these for half the price if you're patient.

  I have the original Art travel pack. It's been a good bag and I've taken it on a ton of trips. I'm not sure if the newer versions are any lighter, but I do agree it's slightly too heavy. Materials and construction are good though and it still looks nearly new even after 8 years of use.

I can say at least for me, it was essentially down to the Aer TP3 and the Tortuga Travel Pro 40L. I went with the latter, but can’t comment on it yet for others since I haven’t taken the trip yet.

  I have been carrying the Aer flight pack (20L) as my daily for work and fun for more than 5 years. Great bag, simple clean design lines, functional organization pockets, been used and abused through various trips and still looks new. I did consider the peak design backpack but didn't want something so rigid that couldn't be compressed when space saving was a concern.

  Best backpack for everyday use and for travel

  Osprey is solid, especially for travel, but for everyday use, it depends on what you need. I’ve used an Osprey Farpoint 40 for travel, and it’s been great.....comfortable, spacious, and fits as a carry-on. For everyday use, I prefer something more compact and structured, like the Aer City Pack or Bellroy Transit Workpack. Both look sleek and hold up well over time.
