  I was gifted an Aero jacket and my honest opinion is — it belongs in a museum it is that beautifully made. What’s the ol saying, “long after you’ve forgotten the price, you remember the quality”. When you’re sober, re-visit the Aero site then your bank account. If you can afford it, I say go for it 🙂

  Aero leather jackets are absolutely premium and the price is justified. Some will say it’s overpriced but for a truly quality leather/shearling jacket it’s in the proper price range. Besides Aero also check out cockpitusa.com as well

  Why are good leather jackets either $100 or $1,500? What's the real difference?

  I would separate jackets into either full grain or bonded leather - with maybe a few rare items in the middle. I'd consider only full grain to be 'high quality' even though some of the others, especially 'designer' items might be more expensive. In full grain jackets, you can get quality used occasionally. I have some very cheap, roughly made leather from China and other similar countries. It isn't pig, you can't see pores, and it has held up remarkably well in motorcycle falls. The sticking wasn't great and the material felt very rough - definitely not luxury. I have a nice fashion Aero jacket that cost a lot. It is veg-tanned, still very hard, but has a wonderful luster and feels luxurious. Aero also makes nice chromed tanned jackets that are much softer and feel completely different. I would start by deciding what to buy, then decide if you can afford it, or if you need to consider something else. Above all, how well it fits is more important. My Aero jacket was custom made for my body - 20lbs ago. It is good motivation to eat healthy, but a size up would look better.
