  Going back to before electricity

  I lived without electricity for more than a year in Colorado. I pretty much was working from the time I woke up till I got home and went to bed so I didn't really stay home much other than to sleep though. For lighting. Coleman lantern or Aladdin lamp with a mantle. These put out super bright white light that's good for fine print reading. Regular oil lamps with a wick even the double wicks only put out a soft glow which is enough for general things but you do need one good bright light source that doesn't need batteries. For entertainment, books, magazines, browsing the Lehman's catalog which used to have much higher quality off-grid type items than they do now. Kitchen. I used a Coleman stove to cook and a cast iron skillet. Eggs do not need to be refrigerated if they have not been washed in processing. I ate a lot of eggs and shelf stable dry goods like oat meal, rice, beans and pasta, malt-o-meal etc. I paid for a day pass at the pool to take a shower, this was cheaper than a membership unless you went every single day.

  My collection of US Made Stanley Aladdin vacuum bottles. Left to right: 2001, 1989, 1969, and 1990. All still work flawlessly.

  It’s likely a Circle R symbol that was poorly struck by the stamping die. It means “Registered Trademark”. Mine have them on the upper or lower right side of the Aladdin logo, but the older ones don’t have any trademark stamps. I also don’t have a 1993 one to directly compare. I would say the one in marketplace is genuine without looking at it.

  I have the purple Aladdin and like it a lot. One day I was asked why I was drinking that cleaning stuff though. I then quickly realized it looks like a bottle of Fabuloso cleaner. So, maybe don't get purple.

  well they are on version 3 now with the sport lid. I only tried version 1 and 2, maybe they got it right this time.

  I have two of the Aladdin brand bottles you have listed. Bought them for a dollar each in our local walmart clearance isle. We really like them because the top part comes off to allow you to clean it better and to add big chunks of ice.

  The nice thing about the Aladdin one is the two stage lid - top spout for drinking, but it also has threads right where the color starts so you can take the whole top off to get ice in there. Or fruit slices, tea, etc. Also makes it super easy to clean. Aladdin has some top notch industrial designers. Same company that owns the Stanley brand. (big Green ultra durable vacuum bottles for coffee)
