  What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It?

  I bought AllBirds Tree Breezers for a recent international trip and love them. We walked a ton, and I didn’t want to be wearing sneakers in every picture. They were incredibly comfortable for normal walking, cobblestone, and touring ruins with tricky terrain. They didn’t rub at all. They got mildly stinky by the last day but when I got home they were completely washable which was a dream. I washed the uppers in my washing machine and soaked the soles in my sink with oxyclean and they are literally like brand new shoes.

  Allbirds wool runners and have taken them with me on every trip especially to Japan where I’m doing 20,000-30,000+ steps a day. They are so comfortable and don’t strain my feet/legs.

  What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It?

  Reviews are going to be all over the place for any shoe because people have different feet. A shoe that works for everyone is probably not going to work for me, as I have very wide, very flat feet. Blundstones and red wings are too narrow and that type of shoe/boot is too warm for me in most climates. I’ve had custom shoes that were extremely well constructed and very comfortable but too heavy for travel. I think for me the best way to go for travel, for a variety of reasons, is still multiple pairs. If one gets wet you have a backup while it dries. You can match the shoe to the activity. I just got back from 2 weeks in Colombia with just a carry-on. Allbirds (with third party insoles), a pair of leather slip-ons, and some flip flops. This has been my setup for more than a decade now. I sometimes don’t bother with the leather pair, because after eating at many Michelin starred restaurants and gone to many cultural events, there are always multiple people wearing hiking shoes. But truthfully maybe I’m old enough that I don’t give a fuck about looking presentable anymore.

  I don’t know that they are BIFL but I have put my all birds through a lot. They were my daily shoe and I brought it on all trips for years and held up great. I also find them super comfortable. I walk 10-20000 steps/day while travelling easily. Shoe fit can be individual and I bought my pair years ago so idk if quality has shifted or anything like that but based on my experience i recommend them

  Hey, I traveled to Greece where some of the beaches are rocks so I knew I needed swimming shoes. I bought a brand called swims, because I knew I could use them for dress shoes at night. Not the most comfortable but worked in multiple purpose for travel, I never used them once at home. As for daily drivers, I like albirds. I replace the inner foot bed with something more comfortable too but they are packable and work on every surface but Ice, they have no tread so be careful if slippery.

  Boots for warmth mostly

  Have you considered Allbirds? They're sneakers, but they're made of wool, and I've found them to be plenty warm for California winter. I have their water resistant high tops, and they're warm enough that I don't wear them during a lot of spring/fall because they're too warm. They have a sale on right now, too. I wouldn't consider anything shearling-lined to be BIFL. Shearling's loft is what insulates, and it all eventually flattens and looses warmth. Wool felt's density is what's making it warm, so it doesn't loose it's insulating capacity the same way.

  For all that, you won’t have a buy it for life option imo. I wear allbirds when traveling and on my feet for a while. I have found they hold up reasonably well and are extremely comfortable. I were a size 13 US with ee width

  Best walking shoes for men: which ones do you recommend?

  I personally prefer AllBirds runner mizzles. They hold up super well and are very comfortable on my feet. Obviously shoe preference is very personal, but as far as durability, I can strongly recommend any of the AllBird models that are made of wool and have rubber outsoles (rather than just foam).

  I use Birkenstocks most commonly but for beach or pool I use all birds sugar gliders and theyve been awesome for the last few years

  Agreed with the commenters that not many are BIFL but I have been enjoying the allbird pipers. Lightweight and very minimalistic. Last pair I had was 2 years old and only got shifted into yardwork kicks because I had abused them day to day

  I wouldn't say they're BIFL but I've been rocking Allbirds for the last 5ish years. They're super easy to wash and they hold up really well if you do, plus environmentally friendly materials!

  black flats that can handle a lot of walking/wearing all day

  I bought Allbirds Tree Breezers in black; walked miles & miles in Italy, India, and here at home in Seattle. I’ve had them more than a year; washed a few times in the washing machine with no problems. I would not describe them as BIFL - but no plans to replace them anytime soon.

  My favorite t-shirt is CoolLite by icebreaker. Its a tencel/merino mix. I also like allbirds merino for underwear, and their tshirts. ( But they feel warmer, with more wool and less tencel. The CoolLite feels better in a hot humid, southern climate.)

  I have an old allbirds joggers that are wool /Tencel blend and run shirt is too they work nice. Might find them on eBay. I also own duckworh Polaris Henley and commet hoodie and they're pretty fantastic gear. The Polaris has been used in 100 degree summer bike rides and 30 degree hikes this morning in Colorado. The commet has been pretty incredible , I bought it in a 50 percent off sale ( think they were discontinuing the full zip hoodie.) but they're totally great.

  I'm a fan of Allbirds for this, lightweight, breathable, comfortable, but I think they are a US company. I understand there is a Canadian alternative based in Vancouver, but know nothing more on that front.

  Allbirds are incredibly comfortable. When the sole and main fabric are the same color, they look rather chic and less sneaker-like. Mephisto has several non sneaker walking shoes that might be what you are looking for.

  I wore dark charcoal waterproof AllBirds for a 10 day trip to Paris. I still wear them all the time. Comfortable and low profile, I feel like they do not stand out at all and don’t scream anything about me.

  I wore black Allbirds on my 4 week Europe trip. I had to buy some Superfeet inserts the second week because I needed more arch support, but those were readily available in Amsterdam and solved the issue.

  I think All birds has something like this [https://www.allbirds.com/collections/mens](https://www.allbirds.com/collections/mens) Their in general more expensive but I've been buying from them for around 4 years now and each time the shoe easily lasts me 2 years, they are really easy to clean too.
