What’s the cheapest way to get a bidet setup at home that actually lasts?
Get one with a heater. Cold water in the winter does not feel good. I mean if you like that kind of thing than by all means get the discount one. Electrical will likely cost more than the bidet itself. I got the alpha jx2 off amazon for $350, running a 20A line was about double that. So probably 1k all in. You could DIY the electrical for a lot less but that wouldn't make the install easy...

Crack-ing clean - best bidet toilet seat recs please
We have the Alpha JX, and it works well. We were limited in what we could get because we had an old round seat toilet, and not enough room in the bathroom for the newer elongated toilet (when we finally replaced it). Of those, Alpha was the sweet spot of price and quality for our use case. We've had it 6 years, only one repair needed and it was a cheap part (don't remember, was just out of warranty), and Bidet King walked us through troubleshooting and the repair itself. No problems since.
