How do you feel about repairavility of products?
Last PC was an intel 4770, current one is an amd 5700x. The 2nd one I built at the end of 2022 using new parts and storage from the old one. I have replaced the ram in it this year, due to the ram dying. Computers are a bit tricky for longevity, but they can still last a long time.

Identity crisis help - Intel Core 7 150U, Intel Core 5 120U, Ryzen 7 8845HS
If the CPUBenchmark numbers are to be trusted, it looks like the AMD blows Intel out of the water: (i5, i7, Ryzen 7) || || |(% diff. to max in group)CPU Mark |17750*(-38.3%)*|15416*(-46.4%)*|28777*(0.0%)*| I find those number very hard to believe though because it's got the 120U i5 above the 150U i7 which makes no sense, and the Ryzen is nearly 100% higher rated. I'd look into that some more but another thing to note is power: || || |TDP|15W|15W|45W| The Intel CPUs are 15W draw and the AMD is 45. Again, I'd double check those numbers and sources but if that's true and you plan on using the laptop 10 hours a day, then that will likely make a big difference for battery life. Something to consider. I also agree with NoSellDataPlz about 32 gigs of RAM and 1 TB ssd.

I'd be inclined to go down the AMD route. I made the mistake of going for the intel CPU and it just feels a tad slow

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
Yea phones have gotten to the point where you can buy a flagship that is two generations behind and it'll be more than enough for my daily use. Same for computer parts. Now that AMD has released pricing for the 9070 and 9070 XT, I've been looking out for deals on the 7800 XT to pair with my 5600 that I installed last year.

Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense?
I built my gaming PC in 2013. Been upgrading it piecemeal since then. Currently it has an AMD 6700XT for the GPU and a 7800X3D for the CPU. Figure I won't need another upgrade for at least another year or 2, at which time it'll be the GPU.
