What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
Amazon isn't 100% but neither are those other options. I have bought hundreds of 1500va Cyberpower and APC UPS devices off Amazon, B&H, etc. and fortunately havent had any fakes. Not saying it cant happen or not to be aware of it but regardless the point was I dont mark those up i just recommend them and sell them at cost if they want me to get it for them.

Looking for a bifl recommendation for a UPS
I worked on the support and quality engineering side of the house for the single phase products. The overall best bang for the buck is the “SMC” smart-ups. The power processing is exactly the same as the SMT (and very similar to the older SUA) but they have a dumbed down screen and no expansion slot. So they de-content them to sell them cheaper, but the important parts are all identical. Used Smart-UPS with bad batteries are worth almost nothing - the best deal is a surplus unit like that and then rebuild the battery pack yourself. It’s straight forward and inexpensive. The Line Interactive smart-ups products are probably the most reliable gear APC makes - certainly has a much lower failure rate than the more expensive online stuff like the SRT series. I left before Smart-UPS Ultra (the lithium units) released, but they are known to have no end of problems. I’m sure that will get better with time.

Looking for a bifl recommendation for a UPS
Did you see any issues with APC's Pure Sinewave consumer units? I have a bunch of the 1500s and so far theyve been great, other than (what I assume is) coilwhine. They protect my server rack, high end gaming PC, modern gaming consoles and home theater.

Any UPS from a major brand like APC is BIFL. The problem is the lead acid battery, and the solution is to replace the battery with a LiFePO4 battery.

Here is my 2 cents. UPSs are not bifl. If you are using one and your computer is restarting, I'm assuming you have bad power in your house. Any ups will do. If you're intended purpose is constant good electricity to your pc, most UPSs will work for you. Just change the battery when it dies. The big brands I normally recommend in the US is apc. The size of the battery usually does not matter if you're power does not go out all the time. Most people can shut down thier pcs in 2-3 minutes saving the data. Paying for a large battery is usually a waste of money unless you need it.
