Little luxuries or upgrades that you made this year that makes your everyday better?
I just installed a Aprilaire whole house humidifier 2 weeks ago. My house went from 17% and right now is sitting at a comfortable 44%. Got rid of the dry itchy skin, dry sinuses, and bloody noses, and we can touch things without getting zapped by static!

Looking for a BIFL dehumidifier
Aprilaire is pretty well regarded and available to consumers

Modern Humidifier Theory- why they will never be BIFL
Industrial humidifiers work for decades and are highly repairable. However, nobody wants to pay $1500 for that, so they spend $50-$100 on a humidifier that will last them a couple years. If you have central air, a whole house humidifier from AprilAire or Honeywell Home is probably under $1000 installed and will likely last as long as the HVAC system you connect it to.

Dehumidifier, or are they all shit?
For basements! I think the best one is to investing in a **commercial-grade or whole-house dehumidifier** like Aprilaire or Santa Fe—they’re built to last and handle heavy use. Also, make sure it’s properly sized for your space, clean it regularly, and use a surge protector to protect the compressor.

Looking for dehumidifier for crawl in
Mine lasted 1 year and been a week with no resolution from them at all. They asked for a bunch of info on temp of coils, temp of exhaust, etc. Room temp room humidity, etc. These aren't remotely "commercial" units. AprilAire seems to be US made, expensive AF though

Best Dehumidifier for Basement Moisture Problems
copied this comment from another post: >You should look into getting a Santa Fe compact70 or an Aprilaire e070 if it's just for your basement.

Best Dehumidifier for Basement Moisture Problems
I live in the US. I have found that the dehumidifier that I have been using for my basement only lasts 3 to 4 years. I have purchased warranties on them and had Amazon replace them. I have bought Frigidaire and GE. My brother has a whole-house dehumidifier by **AprilAire**, and I think he has had it for 9 years so far. I am thinking about purchasing that brand or **Santa Fe**. ,

Dehumidifier, or are they all shit?
I've burned through Frigidaire, Danby, GE, Midea, and a gaggle of other imports that I can't even remember in the 33 years I've owned my home. They are indeed all built like shit, and more so now than they ever were before. I've finally relented to buying a better unit and have an AprilAire E130 (which I believe is aka the 1870) along with a condensate pump for my semi-below grade basement of about 2200 sq ft in Georgia. This is a simple standalone installation and I just want something that is not going to run constantly and will last at least 6 years or so. Decided on AprilAire after speaking with their tech support and confirming that they are very amicable to working directly with and sending replacement parts to technically and mechanically competent homeowners. This is important because some brands that sold by HVAC contractors will not work directly with homeowners (no matter how competent they are) and insist on parts being sent to an authorized HVAC contractor only (along with all work being done by the contractor). Looking forward to receiving and installing it soon.

Best humidifier in 2025?
A few years ago I spent $1,000 on an AprilAire 800 Whole House humidifier and added it to my HVAC. Now my entire house maintains good humidity all winter.
