  honestly depends what you’re trying to solve and how far you wanna go. there’s no single best for everyone. brita is fine if you mostly hate taste/smell and chlorine. cheap and easy but it’s not really fixing serious stuff. i wouldn’t rely on it if you actually don’t trust your tap water. i was reading reviews on sites like reddit vetted which scrape reddit reviews and a lot of ppl said aquasana (RO) has better filtration than brita berkey is also kinda controversial. also gravity fed is nice but the testing/certification stuff is messy and filters are expensive as far as i know. springwell is more of a whole-house, long-term solution.  if you can, start with a water test. otherwise i’d skip brita if trust is the issue and just decide between aquasana (practical) vs springwell (long term).

  springwell’s solid if you’re going all-in on a whole house system. like if you're dealing with hard water, chlorine or just want every tap to be covered. $$ but low maintenance after install. aquasana’s great for under-sink or shower filters imo. good balance of price and effectiveness. just make sure to keep up with filter changes. they have NSF certifications too, so solid for chlorine/heavy metals. brita’s decent for super basic use but honestly doesn’t do much beyond improving taste and chlorine. not helpful if your water has more serious contaminants. if you’re not sure what’s in your water, honestly first step should be getting a water test kit. no point dropping $$ until you know what you’re trying to remove.   lol true berkey fans will defend it forever, but yeah the lack of transparent testing’s hard to ignore. they’re def sturdy, just overpriced for what they offer. under-sink RO systems or stainless gravity filters are a better long-term bet imo. ispring, apec, aquasana all solid and certified. u just gotta fire out which ones best for u. also saw a site called reddit vetted that compiles which filters get the most real recs across subs. kinda cool way to see what’s consistently working for ppl n take it as fyi

  honestly the water filter world is a mess lol. every brand says they’re the cleanest but half of them don’t even fix the real issue. like iron stains or that weird metallic taste in water. id say look into the whole-house setups like [these ones](https://dgwqk2vd43ry.cloudfront.net/?q=MZSKKX6) these ones. they’re built more for long-term use and don’t kill your water pressure like some smaller filters do. what’s nice is they handle that orange iron build-up and chlorine smell without messing with the good minerals. Btw id advise u to change filters after appropriate time if ur water source got dirt or any other issue.

  What's a decent water filter pitcher or some other easy use water filtering system?

  obviously depends on your budget. If you’re willing to spend upwards of 500 then RO is the best bet so you can install the whole thing under your sink and get clear tap water. Waterdrop’s catalogue would be a good place to start for those, but again, hefty pricing so its definitely an investment. For countertop pitchers, don’t fall for the Brita scam, PLEASE. They’re all hype, no play, the filters are ass and do literally nothing. Piurify or Aquasana are usually good bets here, but preferring [the Piurify](https://best-reviewers.com/dp-B0CW6274MK) cos its got a little more capacity. Doesn’t get rid of everything like an RO but your heavy metals and microplastics are gone and the taste is much better with the carbon filtering. Pretty durable build, the jug itself is plastic but the mechanised body’s got good parts installed. They’re generic so you can get it repaired easily, always look out for that whenever you’re getting any appliance please). Oh and change the filter every six months or you’ll be back to square one. Ta!

  I have this. I've been happy with the results. I would probably also recommend not buying this from Amazon. Also, you'll have to pay a plumber for installation, which will also be significant. Some plumbers do a better job than others, but for this it's probably worthwhile to pay more for a better installation. It says 10 years, but that's just for the water conditioning part, which in the picture is the four darker blue canisters in the middle. The smaller ones on the ends are the pre-filter and post-filter. Aquasana recommends that you change those every 2 and 6 months, respectively. It's not difficult to do, but it is an extra maintenance step and of course you have to buy the filters.

  I ordered an aquasana under sink water filter (not that one) from amazon (the aquasana store on amazon). It’s worked flawlessly. Keep in mind that inflammatory/rude comments on posts are often designed to elicit engagement on posts, and there are downvote bots that downvote posts/comments in order to redirect threads on reddit

  Looking for whole home water filtration.

  Not too well versed in whole home, but I hear good things about Aquasana’s system. It’s around $1k and lasts about 10 years between filter changes. I probably would’ve gone that route if I could, but am happy with the under-sink unit I have hooked up to its own tap and my fridge

  I have a similar story, in that I got hooked on disposable water bottles and tried to replicate the experience without the waste. In the end, I went with [Aquasana](http://www.aquasana.com/) [18oz glass water bottles](http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B003XPISEO/). They seal great with a rubber gasket in the lid, and they're very sturdy. If you care, you can get [silicone sleeves](http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00BJN8KUE/) for them too, or the [borosilicate glass bottles](http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B015RBIWO2/) they make, but I haven't tried either of those products myself so I can't comment on them; I've only used the basic bottles. For me, I found that the key wasn't just portable, screw-top bottles, but LOTS of bottles that are COLD. So, I needed a solution that involved multiple bottles, with a few always in the fridge getting cold. At this point, I have 12+ bottles: 2 in the fridge, and more filled bottles near the fridge. I replace the cold ones whenever I take one out. Every night I wash the used bottles from the day in the dishwasher, and the next morning I fill the empty clean bottles back up. This system ensures that I always have cold bottles of water, and I don't have to bother refilling them when I want some water in a hurry. And, my wife and I drink water fast enough that I don't worry about the time the water sits out of the fridge. As of this posting, they're on sale for about half-off on Amazon; I took advantage of that and bought 12 more, just in case someday they break and I need replacements. I've only had one break over the last 3 years, though (I was not being careful over a concrete floor).
