Looking for a couch that is actually worth the money- why does it feel impossible?
Ashley furniture Sophie couch in cocoa!! I was also looking at Anabei when we were hunting for a couch. saw the Sophie in person at Ashley furniture and LOVED her. Each seat is quite big so make sure you measure, it is Modular, and I love the ‘griege’ cocoa color. We are still very happy with our couch 1.5+ years in. Ashley furniture has it on clearance rn

Looking for a couch that is actually worth the money- why does it feel impossible?
I loooooove my DuraPella couch from Ashley (maybe you can buy them in other places, but that’s where I got mine). I’ve had it for 6ish years now and it’s still the most comfy couch! I have even slept on it for probably a few weeks total since I have back trouble and sometimes can only get comfortable in a recliner when it flares up. The tech fabric is easy to clean - liquids will eventually soak in a little bit, but you have a good 5 to 10 minutes to just wipe up anything that spills on it without it, sinking it into the fabric at all.

Why are some modular couches $2000 and others $700 when they look the same
I bought the cheapest couch Ashley offered when I graduated college. Was by far not nice but somehow held up for around 8 years and we got compliments on it. Always shocked me lol.

Desperate for a couch that doesn't suck
My den couch is an Ashley. You’re right, it is very comfortable, and honestly it was relatively cheap. But I bet it won’t make it much past five years without some significant maintenance. Cushions are already a little saggy after year one. (But damn it’s cozy.)

Desperate for a couch that doesn't suck
Not gonna lie, but I think Ashley makes some really comfy couches. I don’t own any as I buy fancy ones that I regret. But every time I visit my sibling, they always have super comfy couches and they always buy from Ashley.

A sleeper sofa that’s actually comfortable?
Yeah Murphy beds don’t really work for everyone. I’ve seen a lot of people recommend the MAXYOYO folding sofa bed as a space saver, and the Ashley sleeper sofa seems to get solid feedback too since it has an actual mattress instead of just thin cushions.

I'm no good at buying good furniture. Any tips there on how to make sure I'm getting it for an affordable price while maintaining quality?
A good tip is to check out local outlet stores or warehouse sales (Ashley even has outlet spots), and don’t sleep on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist—sometimes you find gems for cheap. Also, look at places like IKEA for basics and then mix in secondhand or discounted higher-end stuff to balance quality and cost.

Ashley's vs LaZboy for sofa (or what other recommendation?)
Ashley’s bayless sectional is my favorite couch I’ve ever owned. It’s also quite big, and with the ottoman and delivery it was like $3200 out the door. I was not comfortable purchasing anything we looked at that was cheaper from them, it all seemed like overpriced trash tbh. If Costco has something in we liked I would’ve bought from them but their in store selection is awful for couches to the point of being comical to me. But to be fair, if you are looking to spend under 3k you are not making a “BIFL” purchase. It is going to have lower density cushions and will be build with cheap pallet quality wood. I love this couch and hope the frame will last 5-10 years, but I’m also fully prepared to have to order new foam from foam factory along the way. The best thing you can do in your range is pick out pieces with fully removable and flippable cushions, avoiding any sewn in or Velcro’d items. You need to decide between price and longevity, and if you go for price try and minimize the downsides.

Fabric that wipes clean. Here’s the exact one. It’s dreamy. https://www.ashleyfurniture.com/p/next-gen_durapella_sofa_and_loveseat/APG-59301SL.html?google_pla=true®ion_id=697563&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=b_21717319353_166918518639_714316834460&utm_content=cpc_brand&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADv4M5t5b61pNbq1C63y25NldNDKF&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqcO_BhDaARIsACz62vNZWpnESfayWSHuoMmAt2kLhJLA41WUMs5FoqGLq6_Qk96bHaqWI6kaAr3GEALw_wcB

Affordable quality furniture that isn’t super oversized?
I got a 72" sleeper from Ashley, while I don't expect it to be BIFL the construction is simple enough that I can repair or recover it myself with better materials as needed.
