  Two questions: 1. How rough are you on your stuff? 2. Have you tried the Astro A50 headset? It's a bit pricey, but I absolutely love it and it's the best headset I've ever owned. You can use them with your PC or console and they have a ton of different EQ settings has well three programmable presets and 5.1 surround sound capability. They're a bit heavy but even after wearing them for literally 12+ hours, they're really different from most other headsets in terms of weight on the head once you get used to them.

  Astro, or at least they were when I bought my pair of A20’s. I was in the same position as you in 2019 and then I bought a pair of Astro A20’s and they’re built like a tank and practically fool proof. The headset bends a lot meaning it’s pretty impossible to break them and the foam pads for the ears are still solid to this day and have no sign of breaking off. There is no part of the headset that has physically shown any sign of degradation. If you’re looking for BIFL durability wise then Astro is the way to go—at least the A20 and A10’s are since I have no experience with their more expensive models. With the said, the audio and mic quality is middling. The mic I straight up wouldn’t use if I were you. For years I wondered why my friends pretended like I wasn’t talking—turns out I was just so quiet that they couldn’t hear me (That’s more of a console problem since you can’t really alter your mic level). The default audio is okay, not great not terrible. I have my own preset that I stole from some random guide long ago so I’m really satisfied with the audio quality at the moment. Also, having owned it for almost a decade, the battery is obviously degrading to the point I’m considering buying new headphones but I haven’t started to notice until recently and 7 years after the original purchase. Obviously, it seems times have changed and Logitech seems to be more involved with Astro now so I can’t speak of modern Astro headphones, but the ones I got were definitely a BIFL durability style purchase and I would 100% recommend it for reliability.

  I have an Astro A50. It was crazy expensive back in the day but held up somehow fine for 10 years. Now the soft touch is peeling. And I can’t use it only on one ear to hear around me because the headband will cut into my head. I would go for the „gaming headset“. as suggested by other people, rather get some nice headphones and a desk amp.

  I got the wired Astro A40 pro with mix amp almost 8 years ago. I’ve replaced pads once. They’ve been great throughout multiple consoles, and now finally on PC. Highly recommend.

  I’ve got the Astro A50 wireless model. I’ve had it for a few years and have been pretty happy with it. I’m not an everyday player but I do play enough for it to matter I think. It would be hard for me to pay retail for them, I think they were $300-350. I got them for a STEAL at a GameStop years ago.

  Looking for PC/Xbox Gaming Headset

  for $130, its a limiting price range. I'd recommend the Astro A40. higher end headset. but ive had mine for years. still have them, but switched over the the a50 now. Good budget headsets are turtle beach. wired will last longer, just be careful with breaking the wires. they are sensitive. if you throw them around, drop them, run the wire over on your chair, or twist them too much. they will fail. Source- Ive been playing with a headset for 20 years

  What’s one item you bought that way outperformed its price?

  Honestly, if I was gonna do that, I had an Astro van with a 4.3 v6 I sold that thing still running at 473,000 miles. It still had the original engine and transmission in it and neither had been rebuilt.
