[Request] High quality stand up desk (preferably extra wide)
I got 1 from Autonomous about 12 years ago. Still going strong. I bought the stand mechanism with 2 motors and put a butcher block top on it just like another user did.

PSA: Secretlab chairs are overpriced bullshit
Doesn't surprise me. Whenever I see a ton of marketing on social media I automatically assume that's money that isn't being spent on the product itself. Secretlab spends more on influencer deals than actual R&D. Check out Autonomous chairs got their ErgoChair Pro for around $400 and it's been solid https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FL2F3W34 No flashy marketing bullshit, just decent ergonomics that actually work. The lumbar support is adjustable and doesn't feel like a cheap pillow strapped to the back

Best Ergonomic Office Chair for Long Hours (WFH & Beyond)?
Dont buy from Madison seating guys, if you want advice: Choose Start->Shutdown on your computer and take your ass to a local/regional chair vendor with a large inventory and sit your ass it ALL the chairs. Then you will know what YOUR chair is. But beside HM you have tons great ergonomic options that’ll last years Steelcase Leap V2, Autonomous ErgoChair Ultra 2. I bought Leap recently for my wife. I use ErgoChair for myself. Assembly for it was a breeze and it's very comfortable. It is firmer than most chairs, feels similar to the Embody with the backing with nodes. Compared to the Leap, there's more adjustability that it accommodates different body types that way imo

What's are home office purchases you've made that have more than paid for themselves?
After going through gaming chais that wrecked my back I ended up grabbing [Ergochair Pro](https://www.autonomous.ai/office-chairs/ergonomic-chair) during a sale and way better than expected. it’s not HM levels of polish or anything, but for daily WFH use (i’m in it 8-10 hrs/day), it’s been solid. also considered used chairs from steelcase or HM on craigslist or local sellers, but i didn’t want to gamble on condition or deal with pickup if you're sitting all day, spending a bit upfront can save you a lot of pain later.

Requested to Provide Fake Engagement for Autonomous Chairs
I was asked to do similar and since then someone has linked me to this thread. So, figured I'd share my $0.02 here. A number of years back (2018) I purchased an Autonomous Smart Desk 2 and did/do genuinely like it and shared my thoughts over the years. I continue to use the desk and highly recommend it. A number of weeks back u/AutonomousDavid had reached out to me if I'd be willing to help by participating in a number of their threads with the first set being about their smart desk 5, which I mostly just commented about my good experience with the Smart Desk 2 but thought the price point for their 5 was good. (https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1jvz32z/comment/mmea9at/?context=3&utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button) After that David thanked me and asked if I would like to try out one of their new chairs and having recently broke one of my guest chairs I said yeah. A few days later the chair showed up. A week or two after that David asked if I would be willing to participate in another batch of threads. I said that I could but he might not like it as I wouldn't be able to give it high praises, he told me that was okay and that "You can share what you like and don't like about the chair." Since I wasn't being asked to say anything in particular, I shared my honest thoughts as requested. Mostly recommending the Aeron (https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/comments/1k60sdz/anyone\_with\_adhd\_here\_actually\_focus\_better\_using/) After posting that a number of users had questions about the longer sessions and I then decided to swap out my main chair to test it out. And I pretty much stand by my initial impressions shared in the initial batch of Autonomous threads but gave more context to how it compared to my daily chair (https://www.reddit.com/r/AutonomousLounge/comments/1ki2d1n/herman\_miller\_aeron\_vs\_autonomous\_ergochair\_pro/) So, I'm sure this will likely get down voted and people calling me a shill or whatever, reddit be reddit. But don't feel like my integrity has been sold or whatever, I was allowed to say whatever I wanted to say and I stand by what I said. If you can get an Aeron, absolutely do it. If you can't the Autonomous one is pretty decent. It has great freaking armrests, lol

Requested to Provide Fake Engagement for Autonomous Chairs
Ngl….. I have one of their chairs for about 5 years now and I think it’s very good at the price point when I bought it… it was like 200 something bucks iirc. It’s comfortable, only issue I’ve had is excessive leaning on one arm rest cause the foam to rip. Idk if it’s bifl…. But

Requested to Provide Fake Engagement for Autonomous Chairs
I was a content creator who was sent one of their desks in exchange for my honest reviews in Jan 2020. I had a code for people to get a discount and whatnot as well. The desk is great and autonomous took off with the pandemic/work from home burst for sure. I had a few friends/ viewers buy the desk and many of them had issues. I chose the bamboo top for mine, but most people who close the white or black had issues on the siding. Eventually I had reached out after a few months or so to see why my code wasn’t working and they tried saying they never did that and kind of gaslit me (which was funny because part of my contract was to tweet my code a specific amount of times). TLDR: I had a good, honest experience with them in 2020 and didn’t have any interactions like this person did; but I definitely could see how they could continue down that path based on some not great interactions I had with them later.

I love and still have their ergo chair 2. Disappointing to see this. Their store is also chock full of random crap?

Requested to Provide Fake Engagement for Autonomous Chairs
I've been pretty happy with my chair I've been using for the past 8 years ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ My wheels fell apart once but I ordered replacement parts (from autonomous) and swapped those. I've never owned one of the more premium Herman Miller/Steelcase chairs personally, but my office has Steelcase leaps and I've never had issues with my home chair comparitively.

I guess that's because they saw that I had purchased their older model several years ago and gave it a good review at the time.

stepdad’s son wrecked my setup. need BIFL replacement under $1k
I have had this Autonomous chair for about 4 years. Gets nearly daily use and has held up reasonably, except for fabric deterioration on the seat bottom. I would recommend getting the non-fabric version if anticipating heavy use This is not a BIFL chair, though. Materials and fabric on HON, Herman Miller, Steelcase are better. If I were to do it over, I’d rather get a used one of those than Autonomous.

refurbished HM or Steelcase would be good if you can test in the showroom. my wife got [this chair](https://www.autonomous.ai/office-chairs/autonomous-chair-ultra-v2) (looks like Embody) during blackfriday for $400 and I think it's good enough for the price. highly rcm

There are a few options you can check out, like a used Aeron or a brand-new chair from Branch, Autonomous, or Hinomi.

Looking for a mesh office chair to help with back pain
I’ve been using the Autonomous ErgoChair Pro for 2 years. I got it during a BF sale, and I still love it. The mesh backrest is breathable, and the adjustable lumbar support helps with my lower back. The only downside is that the recline tension uses a hand crank instead of a knob, which I’d prefer, but it’s not a big deal.

Any BIFL recommendations for a real wood standing desk?
I did this. Got a 6’ butcher block from Home Depot, stained it walnut, threw the autonomous legs on it, and have loved every moment since.

Any BIFL recommendations for a real wood standing desk?
you could go the custom route and get a solid oak or walnut slab, then pair it with a good standing desk frame. if you don’t want the hassle, SmartDesk Levitate from Autonomous or any desk from Flexispot has a solid wood option that holds up really well

should we spend $800 on a wood standing desk surface?
i’ve tested them both cause i have one Uplift at office and my own at home. Uplift is solid no doubt, SmartDesk 5 feels sturdy and at more affordable price. I also got it with BTC for cheaper during blackfriday
