Bombas Socks are not BIFL quality
I love my Balega’s but will have to give Darn Tough a try.

balega socks are amazing. They’ve held up 10x better than previous bombas I’ve had.

It’s funny because I switched from Balega to Bombas like 8 years ago because I always got hole in Balega. Bombas have lasted much longer for me. Socks seem like something personal based on how you wear them, walk etc.

i agree for old balega, but the newer ones of the same model feel so much cheaper and have worn and pilled on me in under a year. my old ones are 10+ years old

A second vote for Balega, specifically their blister resist socks. They hold up really well, have great cushion and do an incredible job of wicking sweat and preventing blisters.

Feetures or Balega. I swear I have some Balega socks that are years old with heavy use that I can’t get to even show wear. Somehow I’ve accumulated too many socks but every time I go to purge them out I think, but these are still in perfect condition.

Darn Toughs are great. I use them for my backpacking trips. For a daily driver/athletic sock, both Feetures and Balega make incredible socks. The Balega Silver series are so incredibly comfortable, you'll wear them around the house non-stop.

Feetures are incredible and are my daily drivers. I also love Balega socks as well. Those two brands replaced my entire collection of non-dress socks.

I brought 12 pairs 5 years ago and hated them. Same issues with quality. I switched to Balega socks and absolutely love them. Better in every way. I brought one pair 13 years ago when I ran a lot and when my Bombas failed me and my original pair of Balega socks were going strong I brought a bunch of them and never looked back.

For the love of god, where can I buy some ankle socks that don’t get holes in them in a month?
I was a mailman a few years back, I swear by Balega. They are very expensive, unneccessarily even, but they are the only damn socks I ever bought that are still hole free and unstretched from my time at the post office. The pairs I bought were the ones made in South Africa, but they have other models made in the USA too.

My merino bombas all got super thin and holey after a couple years. The quality has gone down. But… My darn tough socks all look amazing after 5+ years of wear. And my balega socks are also 5+ years old and look amazing!

Is this normal for brand-new Bombas?
Can’t stand bombas. I buy Balega socks and they are the best. My wife’s bombas just deteriorated so quickly and my balegas have been great. I feel like Balegas are BIY. I have had a few pairs for over 5 years that are still going strong.

These Smartwool socks lasted me less than a month…
My favorite quality for socks is darn tough. All the smartwool ones I have bought wore through at the heel within a year for me. I wear injinji, balega, and many other brands but smartwool is the only brand that consistently seems to wear out for me. I am pretty gentle on my shoes and socks. It was to the point that I have quit purchasing smartwool.
