What are the Best Glass Food Storage Containers Available Now? Recommendation
The Ball leakproof one-piece screw lids are great for transporting pretty much anything in a mason jar.

Blue Onion Corelle that I've been eating mac/cheese from since the 80s
I have all Corelle dishware. I buy every one I see at goodwill. They’re tough as nails and I have a disabled partner that drops stuff frequently. Corelle plates and bowls and ball jars for glasses. Much less broken glass to dodge.

What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?
Ball brand mason jars

What product would you seriously stockpile if you found out they weren't going to sell it anymore?
This actually already happened to me. Ball 24 oz wide mouth jars. They’re the perfect size for drink cups. They have threaded tops for lids so they make a good shaker. They’re great for storing pretty much anything, including liquids. They’re great for catching small insects. They’re good for transferring dirt or seedlings. They’re just great for so many things and they were like a dollar each. And then they stopped making them. I used to have 3 or so 12-packs and I’ve either given away or token most of them and I’m down to mg last 12. I wish I would have bought a pallet.

Buy one vintage watch, whatever brand - keep it for life!
May I suggest you look at Ball in your quest. Overlooked, underrated, and they make some quality automatics that you can get used for a steal.

Looking for glass jars the size of this plastic one
The quart sizes have shoulders, but not the wide mouth pint. This goes for Ball and Kerr.

I have money to spend. Advise me.
Too bad. In that case, TravelPro luggage is excellent & will last a very long time. Swiss watch. "Affordable" luxury brands like Tissot to high-end brands like Ball, Longines, Raymond Weil, etc. Quality 100% leather goods...belts, bags, purses, etc. Apple MacBook, iPad Airs, and newer model iPhones... even if you're an android/PC user, you can download most of the software/apps so you're still compatible. Bonus...Apple products have high resale values & trade-ins. Gift Cards... avoid prepaid Visa/Mastercard as they have fees for non-use.

Brands you swear by that have Buy It For Life quality products
Streadler mechanical pencils LEGO Liberty tabletop flatware - from the kids stainless steel to adults I’ve been amazed at the quality Redland cotton sheets Brooklinen towels - holy crap I ordered these with my bedsheets (I didn’t find the sheets impressive) but I am obsessed with their towels. I don’t understand how they’re not famous for their towels. wecks jars for leftovers - they have a replacement for the rubber ring and a glass lid I’m coming around to Cotopaxi since it’s repairable like Patagonia Patagonia for my winter coats and luggage Reima kids outdoor gear, I got some used and my two kids used it. We passed it on and the winter coats and boots still look brand new. You’d never know they were on their 6-8th kid at this point. Blueland refillable hand soap containers. My kids have been abusing them for 7 years and they still somehow work perfectly. They’re made of glass and have been dropped on my tile floor a handful of times and still somehow didn’t break. Adidas backpack - got this after frustration with beans crappy gear now on clearance at tjmaxx and it had a lifetime guarantee. It’s 3 years into my kid abusing it and is holding up amazingly well for a bag I only bought because it was pink and 3 weeks into school and I was tired. Ball canning jars - they just have it figured out Franklin well pumps (not buy for life so much as better product with better longevity). Other than that, local artists crafts I tend to find have amazing quality. Cutting boards, furniture from carpenters, cabinet makers tend to have the best and I go there first. I had a carpenter make me a coffee table and 4 adults could use that as a bench. It’s so sturdy. I’ve been fairly impressed so far by little adventures kids dress up clothing. They’re machine washable and years later actually are doing extremely well which is amazing for kids dress up clothing. I won’t know if it’s really BIFL level until it’s passed down to 6+ kids through my friends and they report back. So far 2 kids and approximately 4 years later it’s still going strong and has the gems and glitter still. I know underwear shouldn’t be BIFL but Hanna Andersson kids underwear is phenomenal quality There’s are companies who I previously considered for their longevity of products not always BIFL who have compromised quality and I no longer recommend them: Primary kids clothing - bought these in the early days of the brand and their kids cotton dresses have gotten dramatically thinner Llbean - dropped their guarantee on products and my kids backpack in preschool fell apart 3 separate times. She was 4 and it only carried a folder. My 2005 llbean was misused, overfilled and worn excessively and is in amazing shape. They suck now. Bombas socks - wear way faster now. My 2017 socks are in better shape than my 2023 socks. Gould well pumps are absolutely shite now

Modern alternatives to Tupperware?
Stainless steel containers with silicone lids. These are lightweight and easy to open for kids. I like the Swell food canister and anything from Planetbox. Lunchbots is hard to open for my kids. My kids can open 8oz and 16oz Ball mason jars easily for their snacks. If they take it to school, I put a can sleeve on them for some padding before putting it into their lunchbox. I vote for the pyrex set of glass containers with plastic lids at Costco for the adults in your household (use for leftovers, meat marination, etc.). You can tell the kids not to touch these large glass containers in the fridge (you can leave it on the top shelf too so they can’t reach it).

Just the Ball/kerr ones work fine. I think I use most sizes for a combo of left overs, portable and storage needs. [32oz](https://www.target.com/p/ball-32oz-12pk-glass-wide-mouth-mason-jar-with-lid-and-band/-/A-49139680) and [64 oz](https://www.target.com/p/ball-64oz-6pk-glass-wide-mouth-mason-jar-with-lid-and-band/-/A-88271632) for food/dry-goods storage. [16 oz](https://www.target.com/p/ball-16oz-12pk-glass-wide-mouth-mason-jar-with-lid-and-band/-/A-50624128) and [8 oz](https://www.target.com/p/ball-jarden-kerr-wide-mouth-half-pint-glass-mason-canning-jars-lids-bands-12-count/-/A-92549755) for foods, drinks and leftovers. I even picked up the stackable jars and use those as drink ware and my lids including drink lids fit them. Buying them online is usually pretty damn expensive, you’ll see Amazon postings for crazy high prices. I out links above to target but you can find them at hardware stores like ACE at regular prices too.

Going back to before electricity
Pendleton or Hudson Bay wool blankets (if that’s your climate), a Midland hand crank radio in case someone has electricity and is putting out a transmission, vintage kerosene lamps, tarps to insulate windows (both from heat and cold), a big pot, a rack, and some Ball canning jars. And for the win, if no one at all has electricity, have a Life Straw ready for when you can’t boil water.
