What’s a BIFL thing you bought and now swear by?
In the same 3D printer vein, my Bambu X1C with AMS. Never done any maintenance besides greasing the rods. Never calibrated filament or leveled the bed, no filament drying or special storage. I don’t buy anything but the cheapest bulk esun or sunlu pla and petg filament. Only thing I ever do is start the print and come back for the finished model. It turned 3D printing from a hobby into something I can use for my other hobbies. Iykyk

They all recommend Bambu because they got one for free. And they all do weird, complicated projects that just happen to be able to succeed only because of Bambu because they are being paid by Bambu to astroturf the world. At least the PCBWay crew just says "we're sponsored by PCBWay" at the start, they don't just happen to need PCBWay half way through the video in an incredibly slimy and dishonest way, like the Bambu employees do.

I mean I don’t doubt the sponsored part, but bambu is the goat in the fdm printing world rn, and start at $250 for an incredible printer, and cap out at like $2k, not 30… They all recommend bambu because rest of the competition doesn’t compete at their price point. Coming from someone who’s been using home and industrial 3D printers for nearly a decade.

What are some items under $500 you’ve made so far that changed your life?
Personally I like Bambu because I use them at work, and I find them to be the most overall user friendly printer 3D printing was getting popular when I was going through college and it was common in my engineering major. People would be tinkering with them but I always disliked that the all in one printers were well past $1000 at the time so the alternative was mostly DIY Bambu struck me as one of the first ‘every home could have one of these someday’ kind of devices
