The Archie Rose is a pretty decent example too, either that or Beenleigh is great. (Bundy just sucks)

I'm after a decent example of rum, so it seems something out of the Beenleigh distillery will do well. Not sure how much masters select is, but i'll take a look

Depends. Do you want "best" or "iconic"? Iconic is Bundaberg Yellow or something. Horrible horrible stuff unless you're willing to shell out a lot of money for something decent (Masters Select etc). Beenleigh is Australia's oldest operating distillery straight up, so something from there has a fair bit of history that you can learn and talk about. Otherwise, something accessible/pretty like Archie Rose. - In other news; Mauritius Rum was interesting. Spiced, but light. Ocean Grove was something I enjoyed, even though it was thin. The TCRL Rums from France is really cool. They do the olden-day mature in the ocean sort of thing, and you can get a whole bunch of age statements from many different countries.
