Best bifl for bag in this style? A lot seem mass produced and poor quality
Billingham. My bag has traveled hundreds of thousands of miles. Five continents. Rained on. Submersed. Punctured by shrapnel. Sat for eight hours on a flatbed truck full of coal in the Congo. And then the skies opened up and dumped so much rain that I ended up looking like an oil slick survivor, and so did my bag. It looks better today than when I bought it forty years ago. This is the kind I took with me into war zones: [https://c8.alamy.com/comp/2B465T7/a-used-billingham-camera-bag-2B465T7.jpg](https://c8.alamy.com/comp/2B465T7/a-used-billingham-camera-bag-2B465T7.jpg) Thjs is what I'd buy if I wanted a backpack style: [https://www.macfilos.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/PB060046.jpg](https://www.macfilos.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/PB060046.jpg) The correspondent's bag was my go-to. My mobile office in places without electricity or even running water. I had a pack, too -- for clothes. But I only needed that once or twice each day. I was constantly in and out of my Billingham.

Spilled coffee on a canvas bag, looking to try to repair it. Any suggestions for subs that may help?
Billingham owner here. The canvas can be washed like any other fabric since it isn't waxed. The leather and hardware, not so much. I would start with car upholstery cleaner -- the kind you spray on, leave, and then damp-cloth remove the cleaner. A carpet-cleaning vacuum with an upholstery wand or a steam cleaner would also be useful here. The final option that I haven't seen -- damp cloth it until it's as good as it gets and then just keep using it. My Billingham is 40 years old. It's been to four continents. It has a (patched) bullet hole in it. I've spilled all manner of things on it. I once hitched a ride in Zaire on the back of a flatbed truck filled with coal and baskets of fish. Then it opened up and poured rain for two hours. Messy day. Clean it up as good as I can under the circumstances (often that meant just trudging around in the rain. Trying to get to the next location.) It looks "weathered."
