  I have TERRIBLE allergies. My nose drips continuously. I have 3 BlueAir 211 (2800 sqft townhome; Bedroom, living room, kitchen) and one 411 (by my cat’s litter box) When I’m at home, I experienced zero allergy symptoms. As soon as I get my car and drive out of my garage , my nose starts running. Can’t speak highly enough about the BlueAir 211. I have to replace the filters ($74 each) every 4–5 months. Worth every penny.

  We’ve been happy with our BlueAir. Also, the smaller model they sell a two pack at Costco and sell the filters for it online at Costco. The bigger one we have is pretty expensive to replace filters.

  I had a very bad/scary lung issue happen about a year ago related to air quality, so have deep dive on this subject. Happy to chat about anything in greater detail, but I found the r/airpurifiers sub to be helpful for this. More broadly, there are 3 axes by which you want to evaluate air purifiers: * ability to block particulate: this is rated as being able to capture particulates of size PM10 and/or PM10 size particulate. Think dust, pollen, etc. HEPA filters will filter these out. Most purifiers at big box stores will do this. Blue Air, Molekule, and other common brands fall in this category. * ability to block VOCs: this is rated as being able to capture “bad smells” (i.e. very small things like smoke, bacteria/mold spores, etc). A HEPA filter will not capture these because they’re too small. You’ll need something with an activated carbon filter as well. These tend to be expensive, and are usually sold as something like “hospital grade”. Austin Air and IQAir are both well thought of, but will cost you a few hundred to replace the filters each time. * price: self-explanatory, but consider both the cost of the device as well as replacement filters. On price, most people agree Coway brand purifiers are the best, along with a DIY Corsi-Rosenthal box. Finally, the [Rtings website](https://www.rtings.com/air-purifier) does a great job scientifically evaluating the effectiveness of various purifiers, though their dataset is smaller than it is for other types of appliances they evaluate, such as TVs

  By consumer reports, blue air has always ranked high. I've had mine for about 3 years. The filters are pricey but in the desert the filters last about 10 months.

  Best air purifier is a whole house air purification system. Besides that you would need an air purifier in each room to be effective. Blueair and Alen are safe bets usually. Consume Reports rate them. Yes the air quality is better with them.

  I still like the Coway AirMega 200M (same as the AP-1512HH). It’s not the quietest at higher speeds, and it’s not tiny, but it moves the air and filters very well. There’s a reason it’s long been the top pick of Wirecutter. If you want some more style, the various BlueAir models, especially the Pure line are very nice and also work well. They’re a bit expensive though. If money is no object, Austin Air makes some highly regarded machines. In general, UV and ozone are gimmicks. The biggest thing to look at are the CADR ratings. Higher numbers are good, they mean the unit is delivering more filtered air quicker. Always check replacement filter prices, often a good deal on a machine means they make money on selling filters.

  Low maintenance humidifier for small room.

  For a small Id go with the Blueair H35i. the tank can go in the dishwasher and its quiet enough for sleep. Way easier to keep up with than most cheap ultrasonic models

  Id recommend the Blueair H35i. its evaporative, so you wont deal with that nasty white dust from tap water, and the tank is dishwasher safe so cleaning is way less of a headache. Its usually right around your budget and has auto humidity control, so you can just set it near 45–50% and let it run without babysitting.

  The two brands that held up for me were Coway and Blueair—solid build and reliable performance over time. What really helped me stretch their value was pairing the purifier with Sensibo, so I could monitor air quality and adjust settings automatically instead of running it nonstop.   Need Help Choosing the Best Air Purifier for Allergies, True HEPA and Quiet

  I did an extensive amount of research years ago that I remember none of, but after a lot of looking I ended up with the square $310 BlueAir for 540sqft with the fabric sock on the bottom. Zero regrets. It was able to remove literally any trace of wildfire smoke from one room of my home even when the fire got close enough to black out the sky, ashes raining down, the whole nine yards. The removable+washable fabric sock over the intake is an easy-to-clean first layer that gets larger particles like pet dander so you don't waste your nice HEPA filter with that stuff. Can't vouch for pollen as I don't have allergies. It has three settings, low is quiet enough for most to sleep with and comparable to having a box fan or white noise machine, but it's not cleaning the air in a hurry. High is a bit annoyingly loud but my partner dyes her hair with it running on high and no whiff of chemical stink even makes it out of the bathroom. Swapping the filter is also very easy. No air quality sensor, app control, or auto mod, but at least from my perspective, the simplicity of having only one button and that button just cycles "low/medium/high/off" is refreshing. Overall cannot recommend it enough.

  What are the stats that matter to you? Does durability and longevity matter to you? Does quiet operation matter to you? Does ozone output matter to you? Does air exchange rate matter to you? Does power consumption matter to you? Does particulate size removal matter to you? Does odor removal matter to you? Does filter change rate matter to you? Does filter cost/year matter to you? Does appearance matter to you? Does ease of movement matter to you? Does unit cost matter to you? Now make a list and prioritize these features... with the most important at the top. If you do this for each "candidate" air purifier you're considering, you'll soon see which one will perform best for the money you're willing to spend. You really can't judge from what you read here on this Reddit board because these are all subjective opinions that are difficult to correlate with actual purifier feature sets, one vs another. I service purifiers and through this I'm able to see "under the hood". Internal parts quality, construction material and build quality, overall design weaknesses, and manufacturer's responsiveness to the service industry are easy to judge, as is the frequency with which each purifier brand comes into the shop for service. The older Blueair purifiers place at the top of the list for top quality parts, construction materials and build. Just the fan in your 403 is a $180 German brand considered by many as the best money can buy. If I were going to counsel Blueair on design, I would recommend only a single change: Pick an inexpensive, widely available pre-filter and add it to the air intake of each unit to reduce expensive HEPA filter changes. Other than that, these older units (400, 500, 600 style) are solid as a rock. As long as you stick to Blueair replacement filter media, there is no concern with ozone output. The electrostatic charging benefits small particle removal and the very small amount of ozone produced is removed as the filtered air passes through the carbon layer of the HEPA filter cartridge. In the US, the amount of ozone permitted in the discharge stream, 0.05 PPM, is regulated by law, preventing import or sale of any non-compliant hardware. This law applies to the finished product, not to the filter cartridges measured individually. This matters because ozone-laden air can leak past the HEPA cartridges in a poorly designed enclosure... which is yet another reason to opt for solid construction. Let the buyer beware, eh?

  Thinking about finally getting a "good" air purifier for 2025 – what's ACTUALLY worth it?

  I have two cats and live in an area that experiences wild fires nearly every year. I also do a lot of cooking. I have had a BlueAir 211i Max for 2 or 3 years now and it's been amazing. The app is great and the "auto" setting is actually functional, unlike many cheaper models. They have other larger and newer models that may suit your needs better, but they make an awesome product.   What Air Purifier should i get against dust?

  You're primarily gonna want to sweep up and vacuum to take care of the dust buildup, but for a good air purifier you should consider checking out the Coway airmega. BlueAir has some solid budget models as well if you don't want to spend over $100

  so for context, i have rosacea and asthma, both triggered by dust, and live in a hot area that stays dusty pretty much year-round. a lot of purifiers feel like overpriced fans with filters that don't do much. You need a certified HEPA filter no matter what, please look into this cos a lot of brands skirt around it and write ""HEPA adjacent"" or something. Gonna put [the blueair 211+](https://grassrouteguide.com/dp-B073WJL99W0) here, cuz it does what it says with fine particles like dust mites and pet dander (i take in a lot of strays). it’s quiet enough for a bedroom, doesn’t look clunky, and the airflow feels noticeably better even on low. the build doesn’t feel cheap either, which matters when you’re running it constantly. seen it mentioned a few times in allergy threads, seconding it fully.

  Fellow dust hater here. I’ve got pretty bad dust allergies too, so I totally get it. This might not be directly air purifier related but what really helped me was getting rid of all the major dust traps so carpets, rugs, stuffed toys, furry cushions all that. If not the whole house, at least your bedroom. No purifier can fully work its thing if those traps are still around. Once you’ve cleared that stuff out, a purifier can actually make a diff. I’d say look into either blueair or hathaspace then, I personally prefer blueair tho since it’s super quiet (can’t deal with the constant whirring noise).   Do you care about VOCs or just particulates?  The best might be Austin Air and a few similarly expensive brands but that's mostly because they filter stuff like VOCs.  I think dust is probably particulates.  I'm not exactly an expert.  If money is no object and you care mostly about particulates, it might be a matter of having multiple air purifiers.  You definitely want one with a HEPA filter.  If you care about VOCs, this list strikes me as reliable because it's specific and because it explains why most air purifiers are somewhat limited: https://www.mychemicalfreehouse.net/2023/01/the-5-best-activated-carbon-air-purifiers-compared.html.  Personally, I've been happy with my Winix and my BlueAir, but I think the Winix is a little better and neither is quite perfect.  If money is really no object, one of the expensive ones on that list will probably help but may or may not be necessary if you're only concerned about dust.

  My original rabbit air biogs is going strong 16 years later. My biogs 2.0 is 7 years old and going strong. Happy with them both. Every time I clean the pre filters they are full of dust and hair. Also have an entry level blueair, which I don't love because the pre filter is stretchy fabric. It's impossible to change without the fabric springing into a smaller shape when it's removed and dust going everywhere. Honestly the one that removes dust best in my home isn't a hepa filter at all. It's an old filtrete air purifier that is just a fan and a regular flat filtrete filter. More air flow, intake near the floor, picks up so much. That one is also 16ish years old with no issues.

  I can also vouch to BlueAir customer support. I bought a second-hand air purifier and found out it was malfunctioning (weird noise coming from the motor). I sent over an email to suppport after having asked the seller for the receipt and they were able to send a new unit to me even out of warranty. Well, what happened to that unit? IT GOT STOLEN FROM MY PORCH. So I contacted BlueAir again. And they sent me a new one, AGAIN! As to the actual purifier, it's a 311i Max, it looks great and seems to work fine too. Have noticed less dust in the room it's at. It's pretty powerful but my rooms are all closed off from one another so doesn't help much for other rooms, however.

  Blue Air is great. The nice thing is most of their residential models offer a washable outer layer and the box includes a second so you can wash one while using the other. This helps catch a lot of big stuff and I change the inner filter only annually. OP - no purifier removes all dust. Cleaning the source of dust is always the most effective. Still, an air purifier, especially oversized for the room and run at a good speed (I do max overnight and just a tad slower in the day) helps get the remainder.

  Blue Air has been good to me as a company. I had problems with an older model (it made a sound that drove me insane) and they helped me several times and eventually upgraded me to the newest model and I am very happy with it. In terms of BIL I support them because they didn’t let me down and the new model is great with zero complaints. I have a cat, live on a busy street, sandwiched between a stinky laundromat and the laundry room of my building, and suspect I have a mold issue, so my purifier is working overtime lol. My husband also has a bunch of old records that make me sick when I sat next to them so I put the purifier in front of the shelf they are in and I can sit next to them again lol.

  I set up a Blueair Blue Pure 211+ in the room where I keep my collectibles and noticed a marked decrease in dust settling on them after a few weeks.
