Looking for Women's leather Chelsea boot
I love my Blundstones and for the money I don’t think there are many alternatives that are roundly better, but you can of course do better if you’re willing to spend more and/or if you have specific priorities (e.g. if you needed a super practical work boot and didn’t care about aesthetics, Redbacks are probably better). And by their nature they’re not truly BIFL but you should be able to get a few years of heavy wear out of them

Winter Boots for a Lot of Walking (France)
You’re not dealing with deep winter, so boots plus wool socks will be fine. There are a few ways to go. For walking comfort, Blundstones are amazing, but they’re difficult to resole and repair. Red Wings are good boots, but pay careful attention to the soles. The cork nitrile on old school Iron Rangers is not safe on ice and wet metal. Virbram and crepe are OK. Paraboot and Heschung are great if you want something French. Boots are best bought in person, and they last for life when they’re rotated rather than worn every day.

I own blundstones and love them. I work in a big office campus and walk almost 10k steps just at work to get around. The boots are comfy and fit my wide feet. They’re light weight and stay comfortable until the end of the day.

I have both. I wear my redbacks on the farm and blunnies as a casual boot. My redbacks feel like a work boot but my blunnies feel like a fashion boot. Redbacks are heavier and definitely take a beating. My husband wears his every day as a work boot and he gets maybe 2 years out of them before he gets a hole somewhere. His are steel caps though so not what you’d be buying. For travel I prefer the lighter blundstones. I did have to play around with the inner sole though to get the right fit.

What is your current BIFL item you recommend to everyone?
I've had mixed results with Blundstones. My first pair (original unisex style) lasted for nearly a decade before they wore out after wearing them nearly everyday. I switched to the winter thermal style because the originals weren't available in my size, but the Thinsulate lining is already peeling inside the boot and chewing up my heel after less than 2 years. Caveat emptor I guess!

Ladies, what are the MOST comfortable boots you’ve worn for walking 10k+ steps a day?
My two cents on Blundstones: I love mine and live in them for all the uphill and downhill cobblestone roads of my daily life, but they are absolute hell if I’m seated for a long time.
