Boots for NYC puddle jumping
You’re probably going to want something taller. Although they tend to be a bit heavier, the height is needed when in the depths of winter or depths of NYC puddles - Sorell Joan Of Arctic - Wellies: Hunter, Bogs, LL Bean *Notes* - ^ Hunter sells a liner sock for warmth - LL 🫘 has something like Yaktrax specifically designed for the bean boot. These work great on ice, but not on cement. - Sorel tends to run small for me - I’d suggest sizing up a whole size for boots. Your toes and feet need room so they don’t get cold. - Also be sure to wear a wool or merino wool sock. I’m a fan of Bombas. I heard Darn Tough is good too. I like smartwool, but they tend to wear out. Thankfully, you can send back for replacement. - Additionally, you can add a sock liner (REI & I’m sure other brands have them). Much like a glove liner, they are thinner but add a lot more warmth. - Lastly, consider wearing different pants (fleece lined sweats or leggings, snow pants) when commuting & changing once at work or your destination

Omg yeah for just socks id do a charge back and say screw it. I ordered 4 pairs of suede slippers. The one that came is so nice. Really would like the other 3. Its crazy I dont understand how you advertise products if ypu cant ship them. My neighbor just mentioned a shipping container boat had an accident off port of LA so I might look that up and assume my slippers are in the ocean. Hahahaha idk

Bombas- have they crashed & burned?
I actually had a great experience with them recently. I ordered for Black Friday and a pair ended up going out of stock after my order and never shipped. They emailed me with $125 worth of gift cards and another 25% coupon for the inconvenience before I even had a chance to call them. All for a pair of $15 socks.

I would email them. I reached out to see if they have a recycling program for socks at the end of their lifespan. They responded with saying no, but asked what socks of mine were done & replaced them. They did not ask for receipts or anything. I’ve purchased so many socks of theirs within the past 8 or so years (as gifts or for my growing kids), and they’ve held up for years. In fact the toddler socks lasted well through preschool and then we handed them down to friends. Don’t give up, replacement is an email away!

Bombas socks - Marino wool blend
Merino wool is not a convenience fabric. If you put merino wool \*anything\* in the dryer, you are likely to have issues. My Bombas merino socks are yummy warm and are doing fine, just like my merino base layers and bike jerseys. Hanging it all to dry is a big inconvenience, but to me it’s worth it for the benefits of real merino wool.

Nike cushioned back a few years before they cut quality. I have been testing socks here and there. The Bombas (not Amazon, from site only) are incredible quality from the 40-50 wears I’ve had them. Very expensive compared to my $20 6 packs of Nikes I got 4-5 years back.

Is this a merino wool sock from Bombas? Every single one I have gets a hole, without exception. Shame because I love how they feel. I have a sneaking suspicion that Darn Tough is just doing all of this as guerrilla marketing. Any thread about socks has a comment with way too many upvotes and even awards that are just promoting darn tough. I’ve had a few pair of darn tough socks, they suck. Uncomfortable and the weave they use turns the socks into lint rollers and it’s hard as hell to get anything out of them. Bombas are comfortable and they last a long time. There are plenty of other brands like that too. Just get a pair from a bunch of different manufacturers and make your own decision.

Agreed! My calves aren’t any thicker than average, but for some reason, most socks cut off my circulation at the band and hurt like hell within 12 hours. I’ve taken to buying “diabetic socks” since they reliably don’t do that, but they fall apart so fast. I will absolutely be testing a pair of wide open socks and reporting back.

That sucks :/ Mine are between 5 years and a few months old. They do get pilly, especially on the thinner parts and the uppers. I’ve tried a variety of styles, but I’ve weeded my supply down to mostly Blister Resist with a few Enduro and Hidden Comfort. Maybe the thicker, cushioned ones are more durable? My Blister Resist see the most abuse with running and tennis, and the cushiony parts that have mohair and merino in the blend have held up really well.

Everyone here is saying get darn tough socks, but no one mentioned that Bombas has the same warranty. Call them and they’ll let you pick any sock from their website and send it for free. They replaced 6 pairs at one e for me, and said call back for new ones once those die. I can’t buy Tarn Tough socks because they are super tight where the front of my ankle and top of my foot meet. The Wide Open versions fix that but are pretty much only sold online and use a tilt ally different sizing scheme. I thinks it a pretty poor design that darn tough only lengthens their socks for larger sizes rather than making the whole sock a little bigger as well.

I read so many comments like this for years and finally asked my MIL for a few pairs for Xmas last year, she loves expensive socks and I’m a field ecologist and was sick of picking grass seeds out of my other socks. They really are that good. I’ve bought many pairs since because I can tell how long they’ll last. Worth every penny, and once in a while I can get 2 field days out of a given pair. And they’re pretty resilient to abuse in the laundry.

I absolutely love bombas and have been wearing them since 2019. However, the only type of sock I consistently have issues with from them and do not recommend is any of their Merino wool blend socks. Their cotton socks last me forever, but the merino blends, I get about 2 weeks out of before developing a hole like OP's (tbh it looks like OP is wearing a merino blend but I could be wrong). After the 3rd pair which customer service replaced the first two, I just said no more merino.

You know they have a warranty, right? I’ve used it a couple of times (I have about 20 pairs of their socks) and they have sent me, without question, brand new replacements. Often, the replacement is an improvement over what I had. I’m really surprised at this too, I’ve had little holes in compression socks from them, but nothing like this. I could see this happening if I walked on my rough tile kitchen floor often with these, but normal wear, I’d call them (you can do it on their website too) and see if they will send you a couple of pairs.

No socks are BIFL and I got tired of spending $20+ per pair on socks that got holes in them from regular use. I have had the same issues with Bombas. They keep getting holes, I go through their warranty and get replacements, but those keep getting holes too and after ordering enough replacements for socks with holes, Bombas seems to flag your account and makes it a major hassle every time. I’ve tried so many others, smartwool, feetures, darn tough and many many other brands that get recommended on this sub. I honestly dislike my darn tough socks despite everyone’s recommendations on that brand. They slide around on my feet more than the others and just aren’t as comfortable. And of course they eventually get holes. They do seem to go the longest of any of the name brands I’ve tried before getting holes though. Bombas has been my favorite as far as comfort is concerned, but they get holes so easily and quickly that I just can’t keep buying more socks and spending more money. I always go for the merino wool athletic socks and the next time I get holes, they’re out of stock and/or have gone up in price so I still have to shell out more money to get a warranty replacement. I have honestly found that the cheaper socks I’ve gotten that aren’t merino wool last much longer, but many aren’t as comfortable. I’ve tried a bunch on Amazon and found 2 that are close to Bombas in comfort level. There may be more, but I’m a size 14 and have to get xl socks. https://a.co/d/dmqnjiz https://a.co/d/aiNWmf8 They go slightly higher on the ankle than bombas (just slightly), but I haven’t gotten a hole yet, and when I do I’ll feel much better about replacing them at $2 each (regularly on sale). Also they all match whereas the bombas always come in different colored sets so once one sock gets a hole, that pair can’t be worn anymore. I just got tired of paying so much and continuing to have to pay more every time they got a hole (even with the warranty) so I figured I’d look for alternatives. There aren’t any socks that are BIFL, darn tough is the closest I’ve tried, but I don’t find them to be comfortable and I’ve tried a bunch of different models of theirs.

If you do end up contacting Bombas to replace these under their warranty while you decide on other socks, I would consider going up a size if you aren’t at the max already. The honeycomb pattern should be closer to hugging your arch, and it looks to be against the ball of your feet, suggesting that the sizing might be off for you. A too small size could explain the degree of wear you are seeing in this amount of time, as the weave and seams would be under a lot of strain. I like the Bombas styles I own and while I don’t think they make most durable or high quality sock, most of mine have latest for years, albeit looking worse for the wear than my darn tough wool socks.

They have a pretty good return and replacement policy. Over the years I lost some and had about 4 single mismatched socks. I emailed support and they sent me 4 new pairs. It was very easy, so I would assume exchanges would be similar as well. It definitely sucks if you would have to replace/exchange them often as that means they aren’t BIFL, but the extent of the warranty is pretty nice.

I did the exact same thing... I night 1 pair and thought they were so comfortable I bought like 10 pairs shortly after. Then they all started getting holes. Warranty replacements are super easy. You just go to the website, type in your order, tell them the issue, and they send out replacements no questions asked. I haven't bought another pair since my original purchase. If I get a hole, I just fill out a warranty claim on the website and get new comfy socks. If they charged the warranty, I would never buy from them again. But with the warranty, it's hard for me to get too mad at them.

If these are Merino wool, I’ve faced the exact same issues. All were replaced with little hassle but the replacements had the same issues. Their regular socks do hold up for a quite a while but their ultra comfortable merino wool ones have definite design flaws.

I have two pairs that I wore religiously, like every day, every other day for a few years and you can see through on my little toe but it won't tear or turn into an actual hole and I've had these since 2015. I bought them because I seen the name and thought "what a stupid name and a lifetime warranty HA idiots!!, I'll be getting free socks." I can happily say they live up to their name. I ended up buying more pairs and never bothering with the warranty because if they can take a beating like I've given them they deserve my money.

I bought some gold like 10 years ago. I am over the colors but they refuse to wear out. So maybe them. I also have some Bombas that are about three years old and I would not say they are lifers but but ten years maybe. Bombas also say free replacements after 60 days in any condition but I haven't tested it

What's a purchase under $50 that has genuinely improved your daily routine?
A few things come to mind. Bombas Gripper Slippers. Won’t last forever, but I wear them every single day. I get a new pair each Christmas. I bought a manual apple slicer on Amazon for maybe $10. It makes 16 slices instead of the usual eight. I love it and use it all the time. You must own a few well-made cooking knives, though these can run well over $50. I endorse the Global brand. I use this [iPad lap pillow](https://a.co/d/gpBlNr1) all the time. Though I don’t think it cost this much a few years ago.

My Bombas sock experience
I am not a paid marketer. They are very comfortable and are fantastic at resisting odor. I love them and hate to wear anything else. My only complaint is that they are not super durable, so they wear out faster than the average sock, but they do have a pretty good warranty policy and will at least replace each pair once. I haven't seen any $28 pairs. I paid an average of $10-12 per pair.

That’s really interesting! I have a lot of wool bombas, and I only had one pair get holes, and it was in the same place my socks always get holes, and after 2 or 3 years or wearing them as often as possible. Now that I have more pairs, I haven’t had any get holes after 2-4 years of wear. I hike in them, I’m on my feet at work all day in them. I guess I must’ve gotten really lucky!! I’ll have to check out the cotton ones when these eventually do wear out

I've had a different experience with Bombas! idk what it is with my wife's feet but her socks get holes in them insanely quickly. She was just telling me the other day that she wanted to buy more bombas because they're the only socks she's ever worn that haven't torn in a month or two; she's been wearing the same few pairs for over a year. I've also had a pair that's been my favorite pair of socks that only recently developed a hole after 5 years. Though it's certainly possible that the quality has degraded recently.

Socks are not something that "you only have to invest in a few times" that is ridiculous. I like my bombas for the customer service, comfort and style. I have some pairs that have lasted 5 years, I have some that wear out in 1. Not everything has to be optimized for peak durability. Socks are not an investment. They are a disposable undergarment.

Bombas, \*Smartwool, and Darn Tough both have warranty programs Check out Smartwool too if you need some socks as well As far as Darn Tough they're great, the quarter socks are amazing (both the thick hiking ones and the vented running ones) Bombas no show performance socks are my favorite for casual wear tho

The Darn Tough of boxer briefs?
Saxx, B3NTH, Bombas and most recently Spanx are my favorite. Common to all, they are a Modal blend. Modal is the most comfortable and in these brands quite durable. All of them stays on firm, not tight. They don't loosen up and ultimately wear like a regular pair of boxers.

The only Bombas I like are the Performance Running socks. I had a few pairs of...the regular ones, I guess, and they were awful. Thick but somehow not cushioned, and just not comfortable. I have a few pairs of their no shows and they're okay but too thick for what I want no shows for. I have a few pair of Feetures and I do really like them, I got the max cushioned quarter length performance socks. Very comfortable, definitely way better than the Swiftwicks I used to wear. But I do find myself going back to the Bombas because those running socks are like magic to me - somehow they genuinely keep my feet from getting super sweaty, and I have sweaty feet. I just wish they were more plain in color/design like the Feetures.

I have A LOT of bombas. Almost all my socks are bombas. The hex running socks, thick boot socks, regular crew socks, limited release collections, tons of them. I wear them as house socks. This means they’re also back yard socks, driveway socks, checking the mail down the street socks. I have never worn them in shoes, only around the house. All day every day. I am very, very happy with them. I will buy more bombas. Obviously the thicker they are, the longer they hold up. Those hex running socks can take a beating. They last way longer than any other socks of ever tried, apart from darn tough. I have a few pairs leftover from when my husband was issued them during his military career. I use them as house socks, too, and they hold up very well. But they’re super tight around my calves and it actually gets itchy because they’re so tight. The darn tough socks are much older than any of my bombas, but they’re less comfy.

Think it depends on the material. Socks aren’t an item that I want to be bifl, if I get 2-3 years out of them and they are comfortable I’ll take it over something more durable where you are sacrificing some of the comfort these have

For those who have been having bad experiences, did you buy them directly from the Bombas website? The reason I ask is that the Bombas I bought from the website have all been great but the one time I bought a pack off ebay they were crap. I think part of it is that Bombas has a charitable program, Bombas Giving, where they give socks to the homeless or to people in impoverished countries, and many of those folks try to sell them online.

It's pricey, but Ive had bombas merino wool and their blend and it works well. I imagine there is something comparable that is much cheaper, but I'm not sure what that is. Avoid high synthetic blends. I would also look into foot powders if you just sweat regardless of material. I've tried so many others, but Foot sense foot and shoe powder worked wonders for me.

What are some of the best products/brands you love splurging on?
Less expensive things: Icebreaker Anatomica lightweight merino wool boxers. Bombas merino wool stretchy socks. Merino wool micro weight anything, really. Smell resistant, soft, temperature regulating, etc. Organic produce, dairy and eggs. Moderately expensive: Apple products. Work gives me a new MacBook Pro every few years, and the interoperability of it with the iPhone, AirTags, and Apple Watches makes it worthwhile to put our household on Apple stuff. FindMy is great to keep track of the kids, luggage, cars, etc. It’s pricey, but it just works. Expensive: A Rolex Explorer (sport watch/casual) and a JLC Duo Face (dress watch). Gorgeous, will last a lifetime with regular service. My only luxury purchases, but no one notices or cares. I just love their simple beauty. Not a product: Recreational travel. Life’s not about stuff. Nobody gives a shit. Memories matter. You really do buy them for life. What I never spend on: First class seats, premium credit cards, luxury cars (all Toyota), designer clothes and shoes, private school tuition.

Merino Wool socks worth it?
Hi! I'm sort of late to the conversation. I've switched to merino wool blend socks, with a higher percent of merino wool. I used to have very sweaty feet and that would cause them to stink. Switching has helped that 100%. I have a few Ice Breakers, Smart Wool and Bombas. Bombas are not as thick as I'd prefer, but they are usually the ones I wear the most. I just wish I could find some that are solid white for when I wear white tennis shoes. The closest I've found was the beige from Bombas. I don't like all the designs and stuff I've seen on many merino socks I've seen either.

Some people swear by Darn Tough and they have a lifetime warranty. I somehow manage to get holes in the same place on each pair (back of the ankle somehow) and don't want to deal with it in the future. A lot of people are saying Bombas. Mine have held up fairly well over the last year, but I noticed yesterday that they are starting to look thin on the toes which is also odd. Personally, my BIFL is SmartWool, specifically the running low ankle socks with targeted cushion. I am in-between sizes and used to size down for a tighter fit but tried sizing up the last time. I will probably size up again and haven't had any signs of wear besides some piling.

Le crueset Dutch oven (going on 13 years) Patagonia nano-puff jacket. Sent back once for free repair. Almost 10 years old and I wear it daily 8 months of the year. Bombas socks. I had some last 9 years Revere Ware pots with the copper bottom found at thrift stores. I honestly don’t know how they last forever. Vintage cast iron pan. I assume this is immortal as it’s from the 1920s and still has a mirror finish. Early Wood wooden cooking utensils. Half of my darn tough socks have holes in them
+1 for Puma. Every single year growing up, my mom used to get my sister and I a pack of puma socks for our Christmas stockings. They'd last years, and I'd lose most of them before they got holes. My parents have been gone awhile now, but my sister and I still carry on the tradition of puma socks in our stockings! Bombas isn't all bad in my experience. Try the cushioned ones. Unless they've changed the manufacturing, I got a 6 pack of their golf socks about 5 years ago, and they're still in great shape.

I love Bombas as a person who finds most socks incredibly uncomfortable. And, my experience is that the ones sold as “running” hold up and fit great. The others less so. Their wool and ragg socks pilled badly. The casual ones (ribbed?) are good for light wear. I haven’t tried performance because the running socks perform fine.

I don’t think bombas are truly BIFL. They are nice but definitely pill and thin with use. That being said I bought several pair about 3 years ago that are overall holding up. The best part for them is their customer service. You can outright lose a sock and they’ll just replace them or give you a gift card to get new ones. I just went through this process with a few pairs for my wife and I. They unfortunately discontinued those exact socks so it was gift card but they also threw in an extra $15 just because. They also don’t require any sort of return for it. Customer service is top notch.

Oh I 100% agree bombas are beyond comfortable. Just wish the durability would give me a few years of wearing them

I went through a Bombas warranty claim - they don’t make you send back the old pair. My wife’s merino wool blend developed a hole after a year and through chat, the rep asked for a receipt #, style, and color. Replacement pair was sent out same day.

I have had a few pairs of bombas for years and they still look brand new. This does not seem correct.

this has not been my experience with bombas socks. i usually get several uses and machine washes/dries before i start seeing visible wear. it takes 6mo-1yr to develop holes, at which point i file a warranty claim to get new ones for free and darn the old socks.

Bombay Fam in the same boat. After my 2nd or 3rd replacement of whole sets I started washing them in mesh wash bags and making sure no other clothing with metal buttons or zippers were thrown in. Keep wearing them in rotation also helps spread the wearing out over pairs. If you want to stick with Bombas, get the poly blend. Otherwise, like others have said, Darn Tough (also poly blend).

Agreed! They are my absolute favorite - they only kind I will buy now. Not a single hole in any pair I have, several of which are 5 years old. My 9 year old on the other hand has destroyed a few pairs. But they still last longer than other brands and the customer service is amazing and replaces/refunds.

I will say that they were the most comfortable pair of socks I've ever worn. I really wanted them to last. If they could just figure out the durability issues they would be amazing.

The thing is, bombas absolutely will replace them when they wear out. Now, it’s crappy from an environmental perspective but my wife and daughter both have gotten many replacement socks free of charge from them.

Maybe! The texture of yours looks different to mine. I have 5 pairs of the ankle socks, 2 pairs of the wool socks, and a pair of half calfs. None of them have had this issue.

I bought a pair of bombas that had pilling and I got a replacement pair no problem. I think they were calf socks, I replaced them with ankle socks (which are all I have now). They are generally good socks and very comfy. I even use their sport socks for tennis.

I find that I only have this issue with their wool socks. They pill like crazy. But all their other socks are top notch, both ones that are very old and new ones that are comparatively lower quality (but still good imo).

Eh, I think that just means they charge too much for their socks and know they can afford to replace a bunch for the 5% of customers who actually bring up their bad quality. I'd really recommend any cheap socks from Walmart over these

I didn’t follow the care instructions. I admitted to Bombas that I didn’t follow the care instructions. They still chose to replace it. I think that’s a buy for life. For reference because these are Moreno wool the care instructions tell you not to tumble dry them. I would dry them on the normal setting. That alone might have ruined them. That’s my fault, not their fault.

Bombas has dress socks and will replace them for life. They also donate a pair of socks for each pair bought. I know they have a different kind they donate,.like their donation socks, but I like to think about it like an identical pair is donated so someone else is running around with some badass marl socks or some super brights

BIFL Socks that ARENT darn tough?
Smartwool. I do have a lot of Bomba running socks and they’ve held up well. They are pilling, but they’re good structurally. I have a lot of their super thick winter socks and non-slip knitted winter socks and they’re holding up really well, considering how much I wear them around the house. All of the socks I’ve talked about are actually my house slippers. I don’t work and I wear socks at home instead of shoes and slippers. So they get a ton of use with related direct contact with our tile and LVP floors.

Did I buy the wrong kind of socks from Bombas or are they all this fragile?
I wonder what you decided to do? Yesterday, Bombas sent me a $132 gift card to replace my newish-but-worn out merino blend socks--essentially 6 pair. The socks are incredibly comfortable for my husband and me. He's decided not to get more of them. I figure, if they'll keep replacing them, it's a hassle, but why not? I'd love to learn about an equally comfortable, but durable, alternative.

I know socks aren’t BIFL, but can you recommend some of your favorite durable socks/socks with warranties?
Bombas and Darn Tough, neither are cheap, but both are quality and have great warranties. I just used my warrantee on Bombas compression socks that started to develop small holes where the compression elastic meets the sock padding. Bombas sent me a new set of socks no questions asked (3 pairs).

Do you think BIFL is actually cost effective?
For me, it comes down warranty and reputation of the company. Areas I have invested in: \- F&T Wax trucker jacket - last you a life time and then some. \- Kanto speaker system for computer. I switched out already 3 cheapy speakers within 5 years. I know this one will last me as long as I can take care of them. \- Computer desk from Flexispot this thing wont collapse on itself. (I have seen desks do that) \- Bombas underwear/socks - I wouldnt call them BIFL but buy them to be comfortable for X amount of years. Sure I can buy 300 shitty socks and underwear that would last me my life time. Knowing every day my ass and feet will be uncomfortable is not something I am okay with. The underwear is pretty good and creates a nice visual presentation. The socks no comparing to any other socks. \- Travel pro carry on suit case - I travel alot and having a suit case where it can hold 10-15lb backpack on top without tipping over is a major plus for me. \- Seiko or Orient watches or traditional watches in general - I personally think every man needs an actual watch. Smart watches are cool I own one. They are obsolete within a few years and materials are subpar for price. You pair a nice watch with your outfit I guarantee people will notice. In addition, watches are miniature art pieces. Coop sleep pillow - Best pillow I ever owned and since I have to sleep every night it is a no brainer. Overall, I dont think everything is BIFL I think somethings should be buy because its good quality and comfortable. Sure I can spam buy socks, pillows, or buy the subpar suit case. At the end of the day those things will still work. I tell you this my feet are comfortable. My sleep is set up for maximum quality. My travel journeys wont be as frustrating knowing whether my suitcase will get checked or fall flat forward when you have to take a shit at the airport.

Warmest socks recs!!
That’s right, bombastic donate a pair for every one you buy. I’ll note that they are not popular in buy nothing circles; they are expensive and many people do not have great experiences with durability. I have a 4 year old pair of wool bombas that are getting threadbare in the Achilles region, but are otherwise fine; 4-5 years feels like a reasonable lifetime for a pair of socks. Of all the wool socks I’ve tried, they fit me the best. If your feet feel cold “on the inside” you’re just going to have to really focus on movement; socks can’t make you warm, they can only help retain the warmth being pumped in.

Warmest socks recs!!
Darn tough, I haven’t heard of them I’ll look into it. Bombas is definitely a common name I’m seeing here so I’m excited to look into them. Aren’t they also the ones who donate socks when you purchase a pair or am I recalling the wrong company? I agree with the movement, when I sit for an hour I get up run in place stretch and shake out my body to get the blood flowing again, it’s great to do but I set timers to remind myself! Mostly my feet are just ice cold and numb inside, I have good boots luckily that I got used from a family friend that are good quality and have lasted me for the last 6 winters so far! Thanks for this reply, I appreciate it!

My husband swears by Bombas (or the machine knitted ones from a woman at our local farmer’s market… or ones I knit him), and I’m a compression (usually from Duluth) girl. But more importantly: I gave in and got slippers recently. They’re an amazing amount of help with my cold toes.

Warmest socks recs!!
Wool socks (darn tough are popular, but I love my bombas) plus slippers is what you need inside. I have had a pair of LLBean wicked good slippers for 5 years that I love and that keep my feet warm. If you’re sitting a lot, make sure to get up and move around every hour to get your blood flowing, as that will make the biggest difference. I get up and do 10 squats every hour or so. If you’re spending a lot of time outdoors, you need good wool socks plus good insulated boots. Socks won’t make a huge difference if you’re wearing the wrong footwear for the weather.

Bombas is NOT BIFL to me
I’ve had some bombas for 9 years now and they’re good as new, others I just emailed them about that they gave me a gift card for the value of all my old socks that had any damage or missing ones. Maybe some of them don’t last a lifetime, but if you buy enough, you’ll never need to buy any more again because they’ll replace them for you

Bombas socks after one wear. Seriously.
I bought my first Bombas socks a month ago. I love them! They are the best “no see” socks I have ever worn. However, at a family Christmas celebration I learned that while Bombas really does donate socks, they are all black (evidently the less fortunate aren’t entitled to color) and appear to be of cheaper quality than the ones they sell. What’s worse is a lot of their donated socks are being wasted. It turns out my niece’s boyfriend’s brother works for Easter Seals. They get so many boxes of Bombas socks they can’t possibly use them all. According to the brother, the office has boxes and boxes of them, and he has taken boxes home and they fill one of his closets. Which is why my niece and her boyfriend brought a HUGE box of socks to the family Christmas party and invited us all to take some. Color me jaded.

I've Worn Bombas Socks Exclusively for 8 Years. I Still Highly Recommend Them.
Yeah idk about that. They are 100% comfortable until they start to thin out. Thankfully I got them replaced by Bombas with no real questions asked. However, even after one wash, at least 1-2 of the brand new ankle socks come apart at the seem in the angle of the ankle and make a perfect hole that never gets any bigger. But once they thin out, the comfort factor is gone. And it’s just as quick as some standard Hanes X Comfort socks.

What are mid-high black gold toe socks called?
From my experience. Gold toe socks quality has gone severely down hill. Seems like most brands. Get a competitive market share then increase revenue by cutting quality. Socks aren’t by nature BIFL imo, better to buy something somewhat renewable or whichever sock company is attempting to enter a market share by being of good quality and yet to be cheapened. I think bombas is somewhere in that equation for the moment. Bu the price of something so stupid as well fitting socks keeps me up at night

BIFL 2024 Holiday Gift Ideas Thread! - Gifts for men!
Etsy sells these simple little metal keychains that you can engrave to say “Drive Safe, I love you” signed with an initial or whatever you want to put if you have an inside joke. But it’s not tacky like most keychains and would be cute to do with the toddler. Or you could do a photo gift. Get the date night shirts from Nordstrom. Could get him Bombas or similarly nice socks, too (the ankle, not the runners).

Bombas socks. They’re luxurious. He will throw out all his other socks. Nice knives like Wusthoff. There is also a pilot’s pen that you can use in space, and the ink never dries up no matter which angle. I thought that would be the stupidest gift, but my boyfriend and father both bought them independently. Golf clubs or a gift card to a golf course if he’s into it. A Pendleton blanket. If he’s into cars, you could get him an experience where he drives a fancy sports car around the track. A grill or smoker if he likes that sort of thing.
