  With a new style of water bottle popping up every year, Which one have you stuck with?

  Brita but that's because the water in my area tastes really weird if it's not filtered. I will say not buy it for life though, I've had to replace mine about four times during the last ten years because the lids or straw part breaks. (I'll be looking at what other people recommend here, if any are filtered and not plastic bottles I'll probably switch brands.)

  When I lived in LA there was a juice bar that sold alkaline water in 32 ounce glass containers. I’ve been using those for a long time. When I moved to Michigan I didn’t really care for the tap water so I picked up a Brita bottle with a filter. I’ve been using both of those for a long time now. About a year ago I picked up an overpriced Bink glass bottle with a rubber protective outer layer and a straw. That’s my every day. I used to hate straws but now I’m annoyed when a bottle doesn’t have one.

  What have you used the most at home these two years?

  Instant pot - practically a no brainer for anyone to own if you meal prep and want your meat to tenderise faster. Drip coffee maker - everyday use Air purifier - bedside every night helps with dust mite allergies if you got any. Shower Filters / Britta (or equivalent) filters for tap water filtering - depends on where you’re at. Humidifier

  Been through a few different ones and honestly the basic Brita just works. ZeroWater tastes cleaner but the filters are expensive as hell and die way faster than they claim

  What Is The Best Water Fiter Or Filtration System For Home?

  honestly the water filter world is a mess lol. every brand says they’re the cleanest but half of them don’t even fix the real issue. like iron stains or that weird metallic taste in water. id say look into the whole-house setups like [these ones](https://dgwqk2vd43ry.cloudfront.net/?q=MZSKKX6) these ones. they’re built more for long-term use and don’t kill your water pressure like some smaller filters do. what’s nice is they handle that orange iron build-up and chlorine smell without messing with the good minerals. Btw id advise u to change filters after appropriate time if ur water source got dirt or any other issue.

  What’s a purchase that’s not fun, not flashy but now you swear by it?

  My girlfriend actually prefers her Brita over the RO water I have. She finds the RO system makes her mouth feels dry after. It does add some minerals back in but probably not as much as desired here. I like the RO because I'm lazy and the water here tastes really bad. I also used to use a Pur pitcher and found it didn't always get the nasty taste out. And even when it did I'd have to then fill ice cube trays. My RO is plumbed right to my fridge for clean ice.

  This might be controversial, but a Brita pitcher. Yes, I know it doesn’t perform as well as under the sink reverse osmosis filtration systems, but it’s still gives me some peace of mind that it filters out sufficient contaminants from an already drinkable water source.

  What's a decent water filter pitcher or some other easy use water filtering system?

  I don’t know about the best ones, because usually I stay away from pitchers anyways. Always a lil too much hassle for what its worth. Like it all depends on your usage, doesn’t really provide any benefit unless you live completely alone. That way, usage is low and you don’t need to replace the filter every month. More than one person and I’d either go with a faucet mount type contraption or the bigger countertop ones (they’re like bigger pitchers). For any of these, branding shouldn’t matter too much honestly, except in terms of how easily you can replace the filters and how long they last. The tech’s mostly all the same. I just know, don’t go for Brita (top selling, but a little scammy). There’s a website some guy made that ranks a bunch of these kinds of products, like it ranks by the amount of redditors that like it or don’t like it and factors in amazon reviews i think.   Which countertop water filter should I get?

  I’m in a similar situation to you, unfortunately. I went to Target today and got a small Brita water pitcher, but now I’m saving up for a more permanent setup. Did you end up choosing a countertop model?  I found this [water filter comparison post](https://www.reddit.com/user/frantically_unfinish/comments/1n6gno7/comparing_water_filters_for_home_use/) on another subreddit where someone has laid out all the different variations of water filters. The countertop Cuckoo model looks amazing (I’d choose rose gold), but I can’t find many reviews on the specific model. I’m a big tea drinker too, so I love that it does both hot and cold water.

  Best water filter pitcher?

  ZeroWater will take out pretty much everything, which is why it tastes so “pure,” but the downside is the filters don’t last long if your tap water has many dissolved solids. If you’re just trying to cut the chlorine taste, something with an activated carbon filter (like Clearly Filtered or even Brita’s Longlast+) will be cheaper in the long run.   What would be a great water filter?

  I’m not sure there’s any true buy-it-for-life option for water filters. The housings can last a long time, but the cartridges will always need replacing. That said, a good system should give you several years of service as long as you keep up with filter changes. Brita and similar pitchers are fine for taste, but they don’t do much beyond basic chlorine removal. If you want something more serious, look for NSF-certified units that target the specific contaminants in your water (lead, PFAS, etc.). There’s a big [database of water filters](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NpNZCcYyx22YB3D9q7T0HoUQOW2qFJtTHihT9yTht0I/edit?gid=0#gid=0) floating around several Reddit threads that compares different filters and what they actually remove. Way easier to choose when you see them side-by-side.

  brita and similar pitchers are fine if you’re just after better taste/chlorine removal. but they won’t really touch stuff like PFAS, lead or microplastics. faucet mounts and basic under sink filters are a step up but still pretty limited. imo multi stage units w/ ultrafiltration are better. cos they use a fine membrane + carbon so you can block bacteria, metals, and microplastics. all while keeping the pour time short. one of the [electric ones](https://grassrouteguide.com/dp-B0CW6274MKS) I’ve come across runs a 2 min cycle and is lab tested to filter generous amounts of lead, PFAS, and bacteria. the filter lasts roughly 6 months so you’re don’t have to replace it every few weeks[.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CW6274MK)

  Brita Water Filter Pitcher... Any Alternatives??

  I love mine but I had issues with the pitchers and a bit of leakage. I ended up going with the dispenser and love it. I went with an 18 cup? Dispenser. We take it car camping too and fill up a big container of water at the water station and filter it as we need it.

  Moccamaster Coffee Brewer

  10 years strong and still works like the first day I opened it. One tip I have is run your water through a brita before brewing and you will never have to clean your moccamaster for limescale, water deposits etc

  Water bottle that keeps water cold?

  Most double walled stainless steel would be similar. My Zojirushi is amazing, but even my Britta double walled is ok. A few tips that I learned through the ages. If you want your water to be "ice cold" then fill the bottle mid-way, freeze it, and when you have an ice block fill the rest with water a few minutes before your departure. This would take time to thaw but will work. Stay away from the sun; keep the bottle inside your backpack. Less is more. If you just have a cap instead of a drinking straw, it's one less part to isolate. Having said all of that, I recently read a review about the Ninja bottle. It is apparently triple walled and not double walled, giving one more layer of isolation and insulation.   What to buy for upkeep of house as a 22M?

  For learning to cook, hello fresh has helped a lot. The meals are healthier than fast food, and only slightly more expensive than grocery shopping, but someone else does the menu planning and portioning for you. It's saved me hundreds of dollars on takeout. Get one or two good stainless steel pans, one or two pots/saucepans, a good chef's knife, and a cutting board (I went epicurean). You can find measuring cups, spoons, rubber spatulas, etc for cheap, and they'll last long enough. Get an electric kettle for any time you need to boil water. Flush with diluted white vinegar to get rid of mineral build up, and ideally use a Brita or refrigerator with a built in water filter to prevent that. If you drink coffee, I miss the Cuisinart coffee maker with the SS front that I used to have. I think it was like $40. You can also get a single serve. Either way, you'll save more than you spent in the first month making your own coffee at home, the markup is ridiculous. A decent clothes iron shouldn't be too expensive, but the cheap ironing boards wear out. Depending on how often you wear button downs and slacks, it may be worth it to invest in something higher end. There's a vacuum cleaner subreddit that gives better advice than I can. All I'll say is: there are some vacuums out there that are a waste of money, and some at every price point that are actually worth it. I'm personally not a fan of Swiffer. Get really any broom and dustpan that feels solid, and also a hand broom. Get a mop with replaceable machine washable heads, and even a cheap plastic bucket is better than being stuck using sinks. Get a water bottle brush, a pots and pans scrubber, and a scrub daddy. I personally don't like sponges, but that's up to you. Also stainless steel wool is useful when stuff sticks to your cookware. Never use steel wool on nonstick. Fabric softener doesn't actually soften fabric, it just coats it. Up to you if you want to use that. You can get dryer balls if you don't like the feeling dryer sheets leave on your clothes. If you sweat it have a hard time with smells in your clothes, you can add washing soda (dissolve in the hottest water you can) to your detergent, and hex or some other sanitizer instead of fabric softener. The sanitizer isn't super necessary, but I do use it for workout clothes sometimes. Get mesh garment bags for when you need to wash something delicate in the same load as blue jeans. Get a hamper or laundry bag. You spend a third of your life in bed. There's no "best bed", it varies person to person, but investing in a good night's sleep is worth it. I got high thread count sheets from Costco and they were worth every penny.

  There's a more robust Brita filter that filters lead, other metals, and other things. I don't know about PFAS, but in addition to the added filtration, this filter lasts for 6 months, so, just swap twice a year. I set a calendar event to make sure I'm doing it.   I want to buy a good water bottle

  I really like the metal brita filter bottles. I know the filter doesn’t actually do too much but it does make water taste better. I especially like to have it when I go the beach, it actually makes the rap water drinkable. Ofc the filters are not BiFL but the bottle itself is great quality.

  Best water filter dispenser for fridge?

  I had a brita one like your picture it was ok but the problem is the filter can actually make your water worse as it gets dirty- long ago I switched to a seagul water filter (by general ecology) at my sink (add in an instahot and it’s even better) these filters really are BIFL and the filter cartridge will eventually slow down as it filters out contamination and won’t allow concentrated bad stuff to bypass it. The water quality is better than any drip filter I’ve tried and the filters last a long time. -
