Do multi-use toddler products actually save money?
The constant upgrades of bikes for kids always annoyed me. I wanted to get the [LittleBig bike](https://www.littlebigbikes.com/products/littlebig-convertible-balance-bike), but couldn’t afford it at the time, so made do with secondhand and car boot sales. The little big bike starts out as a small balance bike, and then you add pedals and a little height as they grow. As the kids got older, I passed on a Brompton, which is easy to size for a 9/10 year old, and can be adjusted to fit as they get older. It also folds away!

Ever Bought Something That Quietly Changed You?
Brompton folding bicycle. Originally bought it as a bike for those times I would need to bike or take public transport to places where going in my motorcycle was not feasible (imposible to find parking or too dangerous,) kind of a back up vehicle. I ended up using the brompton so much more, if the motorcycle replaced the car, not the brompton replaced the motorcycle. Helped me on my health, my finances and mobility, it became almost a cheat code to better my life.

Folding bike - besides Brompton
Another vote here for the Dahon etc are OK, but Brompton is the real deal. Is there a reason you are against Brompton?

Folding bike - besides Brompton
There are others, but the Brompton is definitely in its own class for the urban multi-modal commute. There are some decent Tern and Dahon ones, and I think Birdie? But those work better as “fold for storage” or “fold to take it in a small car”, whereas the fold-and-carry design of the Brompton is more convenient for taking into tight trains.

Folding bike - besides Brompton
I had a Dahon that I rode to the train and then took on the subway. It wasn’t a daily thing but it was serviceable. If it’s going to be BIFL and something I did almost daily, Brompton is the way to go.
