  What’s the cheapest way to get a bidet setup at home that actually lasts?

  Bidet setup has been commonplace in every household in Japan long before North America caught up. Toto has the longest track record, and it can be found for a great price at Costco. I have the higher end versions of Brondell. It’s still going after 6 years, besides the seat has yellowed from the heating function. When it needs to be replaced, I’ll get a Toto since it is more and more prevalent for companies to use the cheapest parts possible (and usually most unethical production source). The MSRP prices generally end up not making much of a difference in the long run in savings.

  What’s the cheapest way to get a bidet setup at home that actually lasts?

  I got one at Lowe’s for $90 the last two time. Came as a kit with the T and supply line. I’d recommend getting a new supply line from the shutoff just in case. Brand was Brondell both times. I bought one in 2020 for my house and then I got another one in 2024 for my mom and little brother.

  I've bought a couple of them- whatever the cheapest wirecutter rec was at the time- and they're lasting just fine, including one in the bathroom of a construction company for about three years now. I think I get what you mean that they look kinda cheap, with that weird flat plastic thing going between the seat & toilet but it's at least at hardy as the seat hinges. Brondell and some others do make all-metal ones, too, if you're really concerned

  I've had the $100 Brondell Ecoseat for three wonderful years so far and the only issue was needing to replace the knob (3D print off Thingiverse) after someone was a bit vigorous with turning it on.

  Yeah no problem! https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/brondell-purespa-essential-bidet-attachment-0639915p.html That's the exact kit I purchased. Super easy to install, just turn the water off briefly and disconnect/reconnect a few fittings, and install the unit itself under the toilet seat. You can get seats with it built in too, heated ones, etc.

  I’m not the person you’re asking, but I have [this](https://www.costco.com/brondell-swash-cl99-bidet-toilet-seat.product.100648818.html) Brondell bidet from Costco (currently on sale for $70) and it has been problem-free in the year or so that I’ve had it. It’s the biggest game-changer of a purchase that I’ve made in the past few years. If it ever breaks, I’ll immediately buy another one.

  What is the best bidet?

  Brondell. I have a very nice Toto and it's great and all, but it's not very BIFL. The whole thing is kind of flimsy feeling plastic. I'm confident my parent's unpowered Brondell will last quite a bit longer.
