  Best king size goose down duvet for a cold sleeper I can buy right now for under $501? Preference is for small, non-corporate companies like Feathered Friends or Supreme Quilts?

  If you want real warmth, start with fill power... once you get past about 750 in goose down, it keeps decent loft instead of collapsing too quickly. Make sure it's pure goose down. Anything marketed as a blend usually means feathers mixed in, and feathers poke through and ruin the insualtion. Shell fabric should be tightly woven cotton percale, just tight enough that the down stays put. Get baffle box construction because sewn through stitching creates cold seams you will feel in the middle of the night and it gets annoying fast. Fill weight matters more for cold sleepers than whatever the marketing copy claims and in a king, something around 40 ounces or more is usually warm enough for a lot of people even if your room runs cool Feathered Friends Bavarian Winter is a solid choice from a small maker who puts proper care into the build. If you need something cheaper, Brooklinen's down duvet is one of the few big brand options that does the job without fuss.

  Plush Towels - 1 Year Review (Matouk/Abyss/Macy's/Pendleton)

  I purchased/received the sculpted chain link, ultimate microcotton, Turkish cotton, and finest elegance turkish cotton. I have not washed them yet, but surface level feels. TLDR ratings: Microcotton/Sculpted: 4/10 Turkish Cotton: 7/10 Finest Elegance Luxury Turkish Cotton: 10/10 The following are all based on the unwashed/unused towels, idk how absorbency is yet: The sculpted chain link is probably the least special. Its tied for cheapest with the microcotton, and their softness/thickness is within placebo range for me (but maybe microcotton is a tiny bit softer). But if you're deciding between these two, it really comes down to sizing and color choice options - chainlink only has towel size and fewer colors. For Turkish Cotton (calling this 'regular') vs Finest Elegance Luxury Turkish Cotton calling this ('finest'), the finest is night-and-day softer to the touch than regular. The regular is still soft, and noticeably softer than microcotton, but the difference between microcotton --> regular is smaller than the upgrade from regular --> finest. There's not an obvious difference to me in the thickness/plushness/weight of them, but I'm sure it affects absorbency or dry time a bit. If I were to recommend a trial setup for me in the past (recall that regular was 21/35, and finest 28/35, for towel/sheet - black friday), I would have just done a Regular turkish towel, and a Finest sheet. And if you want to trial microcotton/sculpted for the full lineup, they feel almost the same, so just pick one \[based on looks\] in towel size for $13. So my opinion, if you're just going to yolo based off reddit comments, if you're on a fairly tight budget, just get microcotton/sculpted TOWELS \[choose on looks\] since they're the cheapest and still okay. If you're on a tight budget but need a few sheets, just get the microcotton SHEETS. I would then only get the turkish cotton TOWELS if you still want something good without completely splurging. If you don't really care about the money, just get the finest elegance ones in your preferred size. As for how the regular/finest macy's turkish compares to some other premium brands, on unwashed towels: Abyss Superline: Regular is softer, but I heard abyss gets better the more you wash it, 8/10 currently Hudson Park Collection - Luxe Turkish: Almost as soft as finest, 9/10 Matouk Milagro: Between regular/finest, 9/10 Brooklinen Plush: Between regular/finest, 8.5/10 Lands' end Premium Supima: Almost as soft as finest, 9/10 I don't have a lotus, but I'm guessing based on the OP that its very similar to the finest elegance. I imagine some of these ratings will change with washing/use, will try to update

  What are the softest and nicest bedsheets I can buy

  I love my Brooklinen percale! They get top ranks in a lot of annual reviews, too. Now I sleep hot so I switched to the quince linen for warmer months, and they are soft after a few washes but brooklinen will always be my go to recommendation.

  mine are from Brooklinen and love them. Make sure you wash with hot water and vinegar solution when new to remove the manufacturing sizing and softening agents so they actually absorb water.

  I keep looking at buying a robe from Brooklinen, but even on sale they are over $100, and frankly I don’t use a robe that often. I bet their robes are a BuyItForLife item, though. I don’t think bath towels are ever going to be a buy it for life thing, but I can see these Brooklinen towels coming close. I’ve previously bought so many towels from department stores that have not held up - and I’m not talking cheap towels, but these have done really well. But…I also have to admit I bought a few sets of cheap towels about a year ago for my kids bathrooms. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, it’s just my kids using them. And a year later they actually look brand new. My hope is for them to just get a couple years out of them, but I wanted to basically replace all the kiddy towels with something more for older kids and have dedicated towels for thier bathrooms. I ended up ordering off Walmart Better Home and Garden towel sets. They were $40/set and a set was 2 bath, 2 hand and 2 washclothes. I bought 2 sets in each color and because my kids never use a towel twice (or hang it up…) those suckers have already been washed probably 100 times and still look shockingly good.

  Have to agree, Brooklinen‘s towels are amazing. I also love that they are double-stitched at the edge. So many “high-end“ towels just have a single stitch line, which basically guarantees that they’ll be fraying within two or three years. No towel is truly BIFL, but these are about as close as it’s going to get.

  I splurged and purchased some higher end towels from Brooklinen. I have to admit, the price almost killed me, but they have held up phenomenally. I’ve bought and replaced several others in the same amount of time I’ve had/used the Brooklinens. I can say the same about sheets from Riley. The longevity makes it worth the expense.

  Down alternative is garbage. I always buy down pillows. Brooklinen offers different firmness levels so you might like the softest one they sell. They launder nicely and keep that lofty softness if you fluff them daily.

  also to clarify, Percale is a type of weave, not material. Its tight, simple crisscross pattern leaves sheets cool and breathable. Look for the pattern on long-staple combed Egyptian or Pima/Supima cotton in the 400-600 count range and you’ll be in the lap of luxury with sheets that only grow softer after every wash. And you’ve still got a dozen affordable options like Pizuna, Pointehaven, L.L. Bean, Brooklinen, Caspter, etc. But if you want to save a few and settle for a bargain "ultra soft, brushed microfiber Percale sheets" you’re likely getting a synthetic polyester or rayon that leaves you in a pool of sweat.

  Wirecutter -- The NY Times product review guide -- recommends LL Bean (280 count pima cotton percale) and Brooklinen (classic percale core) sheets. I have bought both and like both. I have not experienced them wearing down faster than other sheets I own, as some commenters have noted. I have had my LL Bean sheets for more than 10 years, Brooklinen for less. LL Bean only occasionally has sales. Brooklinen runs discounts more frequently. In both cases you can find sheet sets for under $200 (less if you are buying smaller than king size).

  Streadler mechanical pencils LEGO Liberty tabletop flatware - from the kids stainless steel to adults I’ve been amazed at the quality Redland cotton sheets Brooklinen towels - holy crap I ordered these with my bedsheets (I didn’t find the sheets impressive) but I am obsessed with their towels. I don’t understand how they’re not famous for their towels. wecks jars for leftovers - they have a replacement for the rubber ring and a glass lid I’m coming around to Cotopaxi since it’s repairable like Patagonia Patagonia for my winter coats and luggage Reima kids outdoor gear, I got some used and my two kids used it. We passed it on and the winter coats and boots still look brand new. You’d never know they were on their 6-8th kid at this point. Blueland refillable hand soap containers. My kids have been abusing them for 7 years and they still somehow work perfectly. They’re made of glass and have been dropped on my tile floor a handful of times and still somehow didn’t break. Adidas backpack - got this after frustration with beans crappy gear now on clearance at tjmaxx and it had a lifetime guarantee. It’s 3 years into my kid abusing it and is holding up amazingly well for a bag I only bought because it was pink and 3 weeks into school and I was tired. Ball canning jars - they just have it figured out Franklin well pumps (not buy for life so much as better product with better longevity). Other than that, local artists crafts I tend to find have amazing quality. Cutting boards, furniture from carpenters, cabinet makers tend to have the best and I go there first. I had a carpenter make me a coffee table and 4 adults could use that as a bench. It’s so sturdy. I’ve been fairly impressed so far by little adventures kids dress up clothing. They’re machine washable and years later actually are doing extremely well which is amazing for kids dress up clothing. I won’t know if it’s really BIFL level until it’s passed down to 6+ kids through my friends and they report back. So far 2 kids and approximately 4 years later it’s still going strong and has the gems and glitter still. I know underwear shouldn’t be BIFL but Hanna Andersson kids underwear is phenomenal quality There’s are companies who I previously considered for their longevity of products not always BIFL who have compromised quality and I no longer recommend them: Primary kids clothing - bought these in the early days of the brand and their kids cotton dresses have gotten dramatically thinner Llbean - dropped their guarantee on products and my kids backpack in preschool fell apart 3 separate times. She was 4 and it only carried a folder. My 2005 llbean was misused, overfilled and worn excessively and is in amazing shape. They suck now. Bombas socks - wear way faster now. My 2017 socks are in better shape than my 2023 socks. Gould well pumps are absolutely shite now

  I like the Brooklinen percale sheets. Good quality cotton, nice colors and fit. There’s a good Wirecutter podcast or article that goes over what to look for. My takeaway was that whatever brand, you want long staple cotton because it’s a more durable weave and feels better.

  IDK, I find sheets to be extremely subjective. I have a set of Quince Sateen sheets and a set of Brooklinen Percale sheets. I really like sleeping on sateen so I use the Quince a lot but on warmer evenings percale is cooler and nice. I think both of these sheets are good quality "mid-range" sheets. Sometimes I find myself wondering if there are nicer sheets I should spend more money on, on the other hand my dogs sleep with me so prob not lol.

  Buckwheat pillows are terrible

  Yes! Sadly I also fell victim to the hype. Have tried it for about a year now and finally gave up. This thing sucks. I went and ordered a down-pillow by Brooklinen. Throwing this buckwheat into the trash because no one else in my family wants anything to do with it.

  Bath Towel Recommendations Please

  I love the Brooklinen Turkish Cotton bath towels. They’re super thick, insanely soft, and actually feel luxurious unlike the ones that feel nice but don’t absorb anything. I’ve had mine for over a year and they’ve held up really well with regular washing. If you like that spa-like, heavy towel feel, these are perfect. A bit pricier than average, but definitely worth it imo

  Where can I find truly high-quality bed sheets?

  Know im a little late but just for people like me who rely on the wealth of knowledge and reviews from the reddit audience. Brooklinen I have tried both Brooklinen lux sateen 2021 and some from 2023. Yes the year matter because they definitely changed the product. The older ones were alot softer. Definitely higher quality but didn't hold on to the mattress well. The 2023 is i slightly different shade than the 2021 though i got the charcoal color for both. The newer ones feel rougher. They don't wrinkle as much but they don't feel as good. They remind me of some sheets in a super 8 motel but a bit softer. They do grip the mattress alot better though but they seem smaller. Honestly would not recommend Brooklinen for the price. Cozy Earth Bought these around 2022 only have one set. They are nice but I hate them. They are light but feel flimsy. I like having a little weight on me when I sleep. I like knowing my sheet and blanket are on me. But if you like feeling like nothing is there these are for you. They sleep cool. If you have a ceiling fan on you can feel the airflow through them if it's on medium-high. They remind me of silk kinda. Super slippery. I hated that. And since they are so flimsy they bunch up alot. Especially the flat sheet. I turn a few times a night not really alot but it was common for me to wake up in the morning with the flat sheet in a clumped mess. Once again not my thing but if you want a cool sleep and don't mind the slippery feeling theese might be for you.

  Request: Best beach towels?

  I know this post is a bit old, but I totally understand the struggle of finding good quality beach towels. A lot of the options these days are made from that thin, less absorbent material. If you’re still on the hunt, some great brands that offer large, absorbent terry cloth towels include **L.L. Bean**, **Brooklinen**, and **Frontgate**.   BIFL sheet brand suggestions?

  A few years ago I did a deep dive on materials and thread count and ended up confused and overwhelmed. I then dialed it back and looked for reviews for good value brands - good quality for the price. I ended up buying Brooklinen for my sheets and LL Bean for my duvet cover. I am happy with my purchases- they were not too expensive, are solid quality, and are in good shape after regular use.

  Best bed sheets you’ve ever had

  Okay, I know, I know, everyone and their grandma recommends Brooklinen, but hear me out. These percale sheets are seriously legit. They're crisp, cool, and get softer with every wash. I tend to sleep hot, so the breathability is a huge plus for me. Plus, they're pretty durable. I've had my set for a couple of years now, and they're still holding up great.

  [Request] Duvet Cover for under $100

  The designs are not at all funky, but I'm pretty happy with the duvet cover (and sheets) I got from Brooklinen. Has ties in the corners, nice buttons, and feels very nice. It also passes the feline approval test (ie, she deigns to sleep on it).
