  Best corporate gifting platform for durable, long lasting employee gifts?

  Not quite what you are asking but just adding. . . I worked for a company that did high quality name brand stuff then branded it in a removable way. For example a nice yeti or hard cooler with a company sticker they applied instead of engraved. Some people removed it right away, almost all kept it. The stickers maybe lasted 3-4years then they would start peeling unless you were careful but every 6 months or so at events or just part of random treats they would also include more stickers so you could replace add to them if you wanted. It was kind of cool too because some of the long term people would take care of there's and have a bunch of the stickers from different years. One lady had one of the first ones they did (I think it was an old CamelBak bottle) and she had it badged with stickers from every year for like 15 or 20 years or something. I still have that yeti from when I was there and it works awesome. I also don't work for the company anymore so it's probably better I don't have company merch permeantly. The stickers eventually started coming off so I removed it. The company was also acquired so the name isn't applicable anymore but I still have an awesome yeti that goes on every road trip.

  What water bottle is the best for Anti mold?

  Every bottle that opens up wide is easy to clean. I love Sigg but they are tough to clean an dafter a while they take on taste. My whole family uses the Cambelbak Chute in different sizes and configurations and they are holding up strong. The paint is durable and stainless steel is definitely the way to go. Easy to clean too. The insulated ones are a bit heavier but ice cold water on a warm hike is a treat. I forget to drink easily but since I bought a Stelton machine that makes fizzy water I'm hydrating way more.

  For a real water bottle, my Camelbak Eddy is my go-to. I have broken a couple of the plastic ones when I dropped them through the years (all over 5 years old when I did so), and bought a metal one. I use it weekly if not daily. For more of a Stanley style, I use a Frost Buddy Thicc Buddy. I have both the 40 and 50 oz versions, but use my 40 on the daily.

  Kambukaka Elton Easy to clean, very easy to drink out of, doesn't leak etc. It's literally the perfect bottle Camelbak make a similar one, i had that one first and it was great, but the Kambukka is a bit better.

  My Owala is my favorite daily water bottle. I love the lid pour/straw top, and that the bottle is insulated. It doesn't leak if I close the lid, and I can lock the lid if I'm throwing it in a bag. It fits in cupholders, too. I still use my camelbak with a straw top as my bedside water, though. I don't care about the temperature of that, and it just never leaks, even if I'm half asleep and drinking from it at a weird angle.

It is used rarely, for when I went to take ice with me or I knew I'll be unable to get a drink for *hours* Nobody needs to carry two kilos of fucking water with them everywhere. Like we don't carry enough shit already. And he's what I do? Sometimes... I'm just a bit thirsty. Crazy, huh? I just accept that and drink when I'm near a tap water source again.

  1 liter Nalgene and 27oz Camelbak Chute for when the Nalgene is too large/I want to carry less. I have several of both, mostly gifts, and only get rid of one if it's damaged. I've had at least one of each deformed by the dishwasher.

  Camelbak Chute 40oz. I've had it for probably a decade now. Its been through countless retail truck unloads. A season on a farm where it spent a month under a pile of tomato vines we dumped an was found after some one was turning over the compost pile with a tractor. And a couple years working in a clay warehouse. I switched to a Nalgene recently since I have to park a few blocks away from work sometimes and the Chute is a stainless steel vacuum insulated tank in its 40oz form. I still use the Chute a ton though. I leave the Nalgene on my work backpack and use the Chute around the house, road trips, left in the car while running errands. Basically anything but work or when I have to carry it around. Love it!

Affordable (Amazon has sales if you're not picky on color), easy to clean, the lid is functional with a two finger handle (that you can also clip to a carabineer), and a magnetized cap that stays in place when open. The stainless steel version keeps water cold in the summer, and from getting frosty in the winter. They're also dishwasher safe so it's a win in my book.

  I have a .....fake Stanley cup for work, and a fake Frank Green one for home. And a CamelBak. (And a Memobottle). They all have different usages - the sippy cup has a sippy lid, the Frank Green one did but it got gross so it's a big glass instead. Same with the CamelBak. The memobottle is great for handbags.

  Camelbak Chute has been my EDC for probably 7+ years now. I started with a 1L and moved up to the ~1.5L size a couple of years ago as I was routinely running out of fluid. Super easy to clean, takes a beating, and nothing fancy to break.

  While not the same, you might like the flow of the [Camelbak Thrive Chug](https://a.co/d/04ce4xy) I have a corksicle bottle that I love, but it weighs my bag down, and when going on long walks, I wanted something light and with a handle. The 25oz is supposed to fit in cup holders. I have the 32oz and it has moved into first place. Easy to clean and lightweight. And whoever said use denture tablets to clean is 100% spot on! So easy and truly gets to the spots your brush may miss

  I have a Northface Kaban from 2015 that is used almost daily. Commuter bag, weekend back with the kids, beach-day bag, everything. I also have a Camelback Snoblast that is slowly taking it's place. Just missing a proper laptop pocket. The Kaban is literally just a giant, cavernous rectangle, with a separate (against your back) slim section for your laptop. I can't express how good it is to just have a full, square place to stack things into. No divided pockets, no organizers (except for the tiny front pocket), no "here let me help you", just once massive space to do whatever you want with.

  40oz Water Bottle/Tumbler for a clumsy person

  If you otherwise like your current bottle, getting a boot might help keep it even with a dented bottom. I added a boot to one of my Owalas with a nasty dent on the bottom and it helped keep it flat on my desk until I replaced it. I've dropped my Camelbak Chute Mag out the cab of a Freightliner M2 106 onto asphalt a few times (rolling out, hitting the step first) and it's just got some scrapes but no dents. I don't claim it's immune to dents, but it doesn't dent by just looking at it wrong like an Owala. I think the "Thrive" model replaced the Chute, haven't tried that one yet. I do wish it was taller so it could be less wide, I've got gigantic cupholders in my Xterra and it barely fits with a boot on. I've had RTIC bottles (Outback) hold up well to bumps and stuff but I hate their lids because it's so restricting for trying to get good large gulps. If they made a wider mouth, I would use an RTIC 40oz Outback as my main everyday bottle.

  I've had good luck with my camelback magchute. It probably has the best mouth feel of pour type bottles that I have used. I have an insulated one and it hasn't failed in 8 years and many drops.

  Leakproof & Dishwasher Safe Water Bottles

  Our family all have camelbak eddy bottles. They are a bottle with separate spout/cap and straw parts. All parts can go in the dishwasher. They come in kids and adult sizes. All of ours have survived years of daily use for work/school with no issues or leaks.

  I have Yeti, RTIC, BruMate, Members Mark, and CamelBak.  .The most insulative has been Members Mark and RTIC.  . The longest lasting exterior coaking has been CamelBak.  . The least staining inside has been Yeti and RTIC. I'd definitely get a wide mouthed style for dishwasher cleaning, and the uncoated outside, just because that gives out first, but will lose a bit of insulation.

  Water bottle recommendations?

  Camelbak 1l insulated Eddy or Chute bottle. They are both the same but just with a different lid. Chute has a screw top opening to drink from, eddy has a bite valve. You can buy the lids separately too if you want a different type for different purposes. They're very sturdy, I've dropped mine multiple times with only a slight dent. I've had it for several years with no issues I feel like it could easily last a lifetime if taken care of.

  Looking for insulated 1 liter water bottle

  I have a few brands you could check out: Hydroflask, Kleen Kanteen, Camelbak (vacuum insulated bottles). I have dropped all three brands from about 6ft high. They are dented and dinged. The only issues I’ve had with them are the tops (plastic) which ultimately break. Key to keeping them hot or cold is to “charge” before use. I feel like a lot of people get upset with time span of hot/cold. For coffee: I fill it with boiled water and let it sit (with the lid on) while the coffee brews. From ~6:30 to 5PM I still have hot/warm coffee (depending on if I remember to close the lid afterwards). For cold: I either pop it in the freezer for 20 minutes, or fill it with ice. I generally only put water in it. Sometimes I’ll mix in a liquid IV. Avoid straight stainless steel bottles. You want to look for vacuum insulated.

  I was always replacing my bottles until I was gifted a Camelbak chute mag, now I don't mind when my bottle falls down. I think I saw it on Alibaba the last time I visited the site. I've been using the bottle for years now. Though it now has scratches but it's still usable.

  I've had the stainless insulated [20 oz. Eddy+](https://www.camelbak.com/shop/water-bottles/everyday/eddy-20-oz-water-bottle-insulated-stainless-steel/CB-1649.html?dwvar_CB-1649_color=Navy) for a few years, but I had a plastic insulated one before that, and I have a 16 oz. uninsulated plastic one from a very long time ago as well. The 20 oz. is great for me for everyday use – not too big/heavy but holds enough water that I don't run out between opportunities to refill. It fits in my car cupholder, but just barely. I just got a [Thrive flip cap](https://www.camelbak.com/shop/thrive-flip-straw-accessory-cap/CB-3120.html?dwvar_CB-3120_color=Black) because I always wanted one that covered the bite valve when not in use, but it's important to note that it doesn't come set up with a bite valve, just a perma open silicone mouthpiece, so it's not spillproof unless closed. Thankfully they make a [bite valve compatible with that lid](https://www.camelbak.com/shop/thrive-bite-valve-and-straw/CB-3096.html?dwvar_CB-3096_color=Clear), so now I finally have a spillproof water bottle with a covered bite valve.

  I’ve used a Camelbak bottle for more than a decade and you’ll pry it from my cold dead hands. I can never go back to a water bottle without a bite valve. You can leave them “open” and they won’t spill, since it’s only actually open when you gently squeeze it. They have a lifetime warranty for defects, so if a part eventually breaks (not like, you ran it over), they’ll replace it. I had a lid that eventually started leaking after many years, and they replaced it no problem. You can also buy replacement lids in different styles, replacement straws, replacement bite valves, etc. My only complaint at this point is that I wish they sold metal straws so that I have less plastic in contact worth my water.

  BIFL request: A thermos that actually keeps tea hot for hours

  Project Farm recently tested tumblers again, although the Zoji-whatever ones mentioned in comments here wasn't part. In keeping hot only Stanley and Corkcicle got an A+. Contigo and CamelBak an A Milwaukee an A- Yeti and BruMate B+ Other ratings were subjective, corrosion resistance of Stanley worse than Corkcicle as well as spills. Stanley more leak proof though.

  what's your ideal water bottle

   I’ve always liked camelbak. Stainless steel. Unfortunately in metal they really only make insulated, which can be heavy.  I recently got a kleen kanteen because I wanted to get a bottle that’s a little smaller and lighter, non-insulated. I don’t like the lid on it. It has an air pressure relief hole that drips water out of it every time I take a drink. The bottom is also pretty curved. The flat part of the bottom is nowhere near the edge of the water bottle. So any slight bump and it tips over.  I hope something significant happens to it (like getting run over by a car!) so I can justify getting a new one…. Hopefully camelbak comes out with a non-insulated one so I can stick with them…

  I’ve had an insulated 1L camelback bottle for over 4 years now. It’s dented and scratched, it’s fallen off tractors, I think I went over it with a wheel of my ute, it’s followed me everywhere I’ve been, all around the world. It keeps refrigerated water refreshingly cold for 6-18 hours (depending on the full level). The only think I would change about it is the plastic lid, because, fuck plastic

  Top BIFL Household Items for Starting Over

  I am a sustainability educator and finding things that last are a bit part of that. I’ve done quite a bit of research on possible options. Some of these I have (*) while others have been HIGHLY recommended to me. I would still check out the brand as some people who have had their (insert brand name item that they got 15 years ago here) have said that quality has diminished in recent years and won’t last as long. Also if anyone has had bad experiences with any of these, please let me know!   What's one item you've owned for years that's still going strong-and was totally worth the money?

  I have three older camelbak BFM bags that I got two for free and the third I paid $50 for. Those things have traveled all over the country and are my regular hiking, airsoft, gear bags. They are awesome bags. Not sure on the new ones, but if I ever go through all those bags I'll be pretty sad. So far, the oldest two are 10 years old to me but was already 5 years older than that when I got them.

  Good old cycling water bottles work. If you want an auto valve, the CamelBak Podium bottles have a valve that opens when you squeeze the bottle, it'll let air escape when the bottle gets hot during the day. makes little noises while doing it. Of course, no or barely any insulation value, and they only hold so much. So, take extras. If I need them cold and have space, I pack several in a cooler with ice.

  Used many, many water bottles. (Hydroflask, owala, rtic, yeti, many generic brands) I always come back to the camelbak chute mag. It just works best for me in almost all scenarios. +the lifetime warranty is great and I've used it before with no issues.

  My wife has a water bottle addiction. Even though I go through and clear some out on a regular basis we have least 20 on hand at any given time. At the top of my list are Yeti, Owala and the Camelbak Chute. Yeti and the Camelbak are top on the list if you want a simple no straw lid. Owala for flexibility when it comes to the lid. If you want a straw get the Owala. Hydroflask used to my go to and I have a couple bottles that are a decade old but not as impressed with the new stuff.

  I want to buy a good water bottle

  Just picked up an Owala Freesip (24 oz) a couple days ago to compliment my CamelBak Chute which I’ve had for about seven and a half years. I can’t speak to the durability of the Owala because I haven’t dropped it or anything yet, but I really like having a straw and chug lid both built in. Seems easy enough to clean. It’s about as big as the cup holder in my car will tolerate, but it fits well enough to stay upright. I don’t usually put ice in my water, but it’s coming out of my spigot pretty cold thanks to winter and the Owala keeps it cold for a while. Owalas come in all sorts of color combinations, if that’s your thing. I got white with a black lid. The CamelBak (25oz) is the all plastic one and has no insulation. I got this before they implemented the magnetic lid, but honestly the lid on this thing is one of my favorite things about it. It tucks neatly and easily into the handle and comes off with minimal rotation. I can grab the lid, twist it open, and put it in the handle without having to adjust my initial grip. Super quick and convenient and doesn’t leak. I’m skeptical that the new CamelBak magnetic lids are an improvement, but I haven’t experienced it to say for sure. It’s scuffed up from some drops over the years, but hasn’t broken or anything. The paint indicating the amount of water left in ounces and milliliters is still perfectly unblemished. The downside is that since it’s plastic, if I leave it in my car when it’s hot outside the water gets pretty warm. I expect to use the Owala more often than not and the CamelBak will probably become my dedicated hiking bottle.

  I live in a place with constant boil water notices, so I got camelbak eddy+lifestraw. It takes getting used to having to suck the water through the filter straw and it’s expensive but I’ve been consistently really grateful for it. It’s come in handy on camping and hiking trips because you can drink water from pretty much any freshwater source. I got it for work so I was able to write it off.

  Have you tried a camelbak water bottle? The body is the same material as nalgeens, but they are much thinner. They have a nipple you gently bite to open, which takes some getting used to, but are very convenient in the end because you can drink while moving w/o unscrewing a cap or risking a spill. I think Nalgeen also makes replacement tops with a traditional sport-style nipple if the wide-mouthed caps bother you. But I suggest a camelbak in some shade of blue (I personally find myself drinking more when the bottle is blue)

I needed something that I didn't have to "try" to open, and had a small enough mouth piece so I wouldn't spill all over myself trying to drink. This fit the bill. It's also light weight, fits in my purse, and bonus: can fit ice cubes.

  Young professional purchases

  Focus on what suits *your* needs, rather than on the idea of what a young professional needs. Like, people could declare a certain coffee maker a kitchen essential, but if you don't drink coffee, there's no point in getting it. For the less fashion sensitive articles of clothing, LLBean has fantastic quality, and Lands End is also pretty good. If you lose your water bottle, BIFL status is less important than usability, although if you like the mouth of Nalgene, then obviously keep using it. I favor Contigo and Camelback because they encourage me to drink more water than I would with a Nalgene, even though they are inherently less durable. I have an STM backpack with a well padded laptop compartment that I love. It's held up better than any other backpack I've had. It's also quite comfortable. Watches usually last pretty well. The weak points are thin plating and canvas or leather straps (which are also more comfortable, imo, so I put up with them). I'd make sure to get something I won't be sick of in 10 years, because unless you get a really crummy one, you'll probably still have it. That might be one of the more important BIFL aspects with watches, really. Briefcase: Depends on your job. You want it to fit the environment. You might be interested in a fountain pen. It won't save you money, but it will mean you'll have the one nice pen instead of a bunch of cheaper ones. For a discrete pen, I like the Hero 616, which is modeled after the Parker 51. The standard pen recommendation is the Lamy Safari. I always use Noodlers Black ink, because it's impossible to remove from paper, which makes it great for signatures, but some people prefer washable ink to avoid clothing mishaps.
