I’m in Spain for the holidays, what are some BIFL/quality items I can get here that I can’t get in the US?
Are you getting the Pelotas? I think that model might still be better quality than some of the others. Several others that I bought in the last few years including the xtra light version of the Pelotas have not lasted long, but Camper does have a great warranty and has replaced them with no questions asked.

Well I've been buying since 2020 and enjoying them. Makes a whole lot difference when I buy for my children because Campers are practically indestructible in case of my son.

I don't know if you can get them or not, I live in Spain Camper shoes It's also turron and polvorones season, go to any supermarket and buy. It's not BFL but you'll make points with friends and family when you go home. Bimba y Lola bags also are good even though they are mostly nylon. Silk foulards If you're into sports, check out Decathlon. Even if you're not into sports, there are some BIFL items there (jackets, organic cotton tshirts, camping equipment, water bottles).

Kids shoes - help with a shoe that has a durable toe.
I don't agree with buying the cheapest kids shoes just because they will outgrow them relatively quick. Especially if you have another kid that can use the hand me downs (or friend, cousin, thrift store etc). I really like the brand Campers, I have been able to get use for 3 kids so far with their shoes without them falling apart.

My favourite shoes are discontinued!! Alternative suggestions?
Okay so, my feet shape is similar to yours and even bigger, I take a little bit less steps than you do, also bike around a lot. Unfortunately Timberland’s have been my go-to as well, I wear boots most of the time, so it works out. If you’re willing to branch out the style little bit, Palladium has nice shoes but you have to try them on before buying, the size & shape changes a lot per style. I thrifted a vintage pair of made in england dr martens, and honestly I wouldn’t suggest them. The leather is much stiffer than what Timberland uses on their boots and after years of breaking in, if I take more than 7k steps they destroy my feet. Their boots in pisa leather (the softer one) are a lot more forgiving, and quite light if you get hot easily. I have a pair of Camper’s in a similar style with a thinner sole that this image that are quite comfortable, but the breaking in is still a process especially around the ankle. You can try to find also “creeper” style shoes, they have less holes at the top, and a thick sole. I don’t know any super comfortable ones, but maybe you’ll luck out. I know some men’s shoes like Ecco sometimes makes similar shoes to these, but you’d go through them in even less time.

Any recommendations for comfy ballet flats in Italy?
I would seriously recommend Camper ballet flats. I have the right ones with the elastic and the support is great. They’re my go to summer shoes and i live in a city full of cobblestone where we walk everywhere.

Going to Europe, suggestions for comfortable, not-ugly walking shoes that will last?
Camper, Cinnamon shoes, Naturalista, ART shoes - depending on the model, some are very comfortable, but not all of them. I’ve seen some shoes with crocs sole but tennis shoe top? And some medical workers and elderly really like Sketchers shoes due to the memory foam sole.
