  I'm a little confused by your post because honestly, any humidifier is going to grow mold in three weeks if it's not cleaned regularly. Ultrasonic ones especially need daily maintenance… at least a water change every day and a good deep clean every three days or so. I totally agree with the folks recommending vinegar. It's a solid low odor way to keep things fresh. For something a bit more "mold resistant" I'd look at evaporative (wick) humidifiers since they tend to have fewer parts and are easier to keep clean. I just grabbed a Canopy humidifier and I'm pumped to try it because it's dishwasher safe, that alone feels like a game changer.   Low maintenance humidifier for small room.

  My opinion is a bit contrary to some of the ones already posted, but I personally find ultrasonic air purifiers to be an absolute pain in the butt to clean. I had one and as soon as I would forget about it for one day, it would get disgusting and I just never trusted that I was actually getting all the little parts clean.  Another reddit user convinced me that I needed to get an evaporative humidifier, and it’s been a game changer. I have a Levoit that is pretty large and works well for my main living space. And for my bedroom I got a Canopy one that actually has dishwasher safe parts, so it doesn’t get much easier than that!   easy to clean evaporative humidifier

  UPDATE: I ended up buying Canopy 2.0 lol. It’s pretty expensive but it beats having to buy distilled water, although I do have to buy the filters. But there are cheaper offbrand filters on Amazon that come in a pack. Originally I didn’t want the canopy because of mold growth in a particular hard to reach spot, but it appears that the 2.0 fixed that issue? The grill on top is also removable for easy access to the fan, and I don’t really see any place that’s hard to clean. I really do like this one so far as it ticks off all my boxes and I hope it lasts. also: everything but the motor compartment + filter is machine washable. there’s 3 modes, although i do think the lowest mode is not silent but i could sleep through the white noise. the other 2 modes are loud af
