  Face moisturizer. The cheap CeraVe / Cetaphil / Vanicream products are just as effective as the luxury ones. For luxury ones are never worth the money

  I upgraded my BIFL razor to make it portable!

  Okay, I'll make a realistic argument for those who shave every day: Lord safety blades, 100 pack - $6.80, or 6.8¢/per. Changing them weekly comes out to $3.54 One bar of Irish spring will last a year of shaving, that's about $1, $2 if you wanna double it. I like to use the Wintergreen scented rubbing alcohol as an aftershave (most aftershaves are just scented alcohol). It's $1.58/qt at Walmart. Again, I go through one a year but let's apply it liberally and go through 2. The most expensive part of this is the lotion, let's use the Cetaphil at about $14 a jar. You're sitting at $22.70 with lotion, $8.70 without. Bear in mind that's *after* you buy the razor, boar's hair brush, and shaving mug. But the dollar a year thing is based in reality because I do it. I don't buy lotion for shaving, I buy it because I have dry skin. I don't buy soap for shaving, I buy it to wash my whole body. I shave at most once every week, sometimes once every month; I am just not that hairy and I don't need to shave that often. Really the only money I spend specifically on shaving is less than a dollar a year.

  Stuff you will continue buying for life

  I kind of look at this like what things would I immediately repurchase if lost or destroyed (not including electronics) and the first that come to mind-- a yeti water bottle and a yeti mug for tea, Birkenstock Arizonas in either black or cognac, Duluth trading no yank tanks, Fantasie side support bras, classic short Uggs (great house shoes/slippers when it's cold.) I'll also never be without either a kindle or a kobo if I have a choice. I'm also stupidly loyal to cetaphil gentle face cleanser, cerave and vanicream moisturizers/lotions, and Aquaphor.

  What’s the best way to clean and shine these up

  Spray with 99% alcohol or Febreeze to remove the musty smell. For the leather the first thing I'd do is work some decent moisturizing cream into the straps ( Cetaphil is my choice) if only because that is what I have at hand. Sometimes this is all that is really necessary. As for the the waxed canvas: Clean with a damp cloth. Allow to dry. Then apply new bee/fabric wax. The traditional method is to grab a bar of wax and rub it in with elbow grease and friction, which does work. I personally prefer to make a mix of wax and mineral oil, heat it into a liquid, and then apply on the canvas with a small paint brush. Start with an out of sight test patch, just in case.

  Looking for hand towels that are gentle, yet absorbent. My wife has contamination ocd and washes very frequently then vigorously dries them.

  I can relate to her situation- something that made a big difference for me was switching to Cetaphil or Cerave gentle cleansers (I have found big ones at Costco) for handwashing, as recommended by my dermatologist. Lots of soaps with foaming agents are drying and harsh on skin.
