Is there anything you're convinced is "the cheaper the better"?
Our Nissan LEAF has been a great city car. I’m always looking for an old Chevy Spark, but I think they just did t make it to my market.

What is your most unintentional BIFL item?
I've been wearing the same LLBean goose down parka and flannel lined waterproof mittens since 2011. I've been wearing the same pair of Birkenstocks sandals regularly since 2012. And I'm still driving the same car I did in 2009: A Chevy Aveo hatchback. The only thing that it's ever needed that wasn't normal wear-and-tear (tires, brake pads, etc) was a new air conditioning compressor or something like that. Other than that, it has been a workhorse and continues to chug along nicely.

Many goods or brands’ quality degrades over time, whether that’s through new MBA management, reputation mining, etc. What are some products currently available whose quality has only improved over time?
My 91 K-1500 Chevy never broke down on me outside of a dead battery. My 96 Accord hasn’t broke down on me besides a dead battery. My 86 MR2 hasn’t broken down on me… besides a dead battery. However I have properly maintained all three since owning them, and upon purchase would take all new vehicles to be looked over thoroughly by a shop I trust. It is more about what ***YOU*** do to maintain your vehicle, making sure to listen to it, and learning what those odd sounds mean when you hear something weird. Now granted I grew up on a farm, so I was always taught that one day a week you either turn off the music or turn it way down so you can hear your equipment while using it. Also… my 1975 Nissan Cherry runs fine. I don’t drive it though as the rear right parking brake needs to be replaced, but I plan on rebuilding that car with modern disc brakes. Only reason it is “broken down.” Otherwise a 50 year car is running just fine. It is all about how you maintain your vehicles.

Me with the Golden Taco the day I bought it vs 4 years later... Still ticking with 530,000 miles!
They do. Toyota and Chevy will sell you Tacoma’s and Colorado’s all day long.

In an age of things designed to be replaced, what currently-produced 1) trucks, and 2) cars come closest to BIFL?
Chevy Express/ GMC Savannah 2500.
