[BIFL REQUEST] Clothes steamer (both stand-up and travel-sized)
CHI handheld or HILIFE work way better on cotton and don't take up space.

Any actual consensus on steam irons?
I recommend checking out [this CHI steam iron](https://www.reddit.com/r/DecideWise/comments/1nnmr39/get_this_steam_iron_if_you_dont_mind_spending_a/). It's not too expensive and the reviews seem pretty good.

The Best Hair Straightener to Buy Right Now? Recommendations?
You can't go wrong with the original. I've personally known a dozen people that swear by it, and was turned onto it from a professional stylist. https://chi.com/shop/categories/best-sellers/1-inch-original-ceramic-hairstyling-iron/GF1001.html

Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
I bought a Chi hair straightener 15 years ago at Goodwill and have been using it ever since. I think I’ll have to leave it to someone in my will!

Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
My CHI hair straightener from 2004. It felt like an outrageous amount of money at the time but I reckon it will last at least another 20 years.

Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
I would have legit cried! I've had my Chi over 15 years, I can't even remember at this point when I got it but it was a Christmas gift from my grandma who has since passed away. Still works amazing and I use it daily and always think of her. I truly hope to never have to replace it!

Something you didn’t expect to be BIFL but outlasted your expectations?
My chi hair straightener worked amazingly well for 15 years. The only reason I talk about it in the past tense is I took it to Europe and the power didn’t convert it (or I didn’t know what I was doing) and it melted the adhesive holding the ceramic plates on and it was ruined forever. RIP.

The Best Hair Straightener to Buy Right Now? Recommendations?
Have you CHI? Friends and family have had theirs for years/decades and the only reason I've only had my second one is that my previous CHI was left behind while traveling.

Any actual consensus on steam irons?
[This Chi iron](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CL534D8C/) is the best one if that's what you're asking for. Expensive but it's a buy once cry once type of deal.

Any actual consensus on steam irons?
I have gone through 3 Rowentas in about 3 years. All three leaked. I have been using a CHI for about a year and it's holding up pretty well. I took advantage of a sale when I purchased it.

Garment steamer for home use
I know Jiffy is very popular. Depending on your budget. I make custom suits for a living so steam all my clients’ clothes. I use the CHI Lava handheld steamer (around $55 CAD from Costco), and have been incredibly impressed with it. It works on delicate clothes. Suits are harder to get wrinkles out of, and this steamer works amazingly well. Better than large commercial steamers I’ve used in the past. Jiffy is top of the line but depends on what you’re using it for and how much you want to invest. Hope this helps!

What is your most unintentional BIFL item?
I have a hair straightener from Sally’s that’s probably 20 years old and still going strong. It was their generic Chi. Haven’t found one I like near as much as this one.

What’s one thing you bought once and it’s still going strong years later?
I bought a Chi hair straightener in 8th grade. I’m 31 and it’s still going strong 😂

Which brand has the Best Steam Iron?
Gave my made-in-Germany Rowenta to my son because I iron less these days. Bought a “Chi” brand iron, new but from a private seller so less expensive but without warranty. So far it’s every bit as good as the Rowenta.
