  What's a purchase under $50 that has genuinely improved your daily routine?

  decent but no-frills pocket knife. I've gotten ones I like from Kershaw, Civivi, and CJRB, but I'm sure there are even more. You can easily spend more than $50 on your perfect pocket knife, but it won't be _that much_ better unless you have very specific needs... and it'll suck way more when you inevitably lose it.

  I just did this a couple years ago, similar to you there are no common hobbies among them and I didn't want to do the generic shit everyone does. I can't count the number of engraved flasks I've never used. I was willing to spend about the same as you when I decided to look into high quality pocket knives. It's a useful tool I felt every guy can use, regardless of common interests. While digging I found CJRB knives. They're insanely high quality but still very affordable. I settled for the Ekko model because, at the time, every single article I read stated it might be the best EDC knife ever made. I'm not a shill for them, in fact there are a ton of great brands out there now. I had all of them laser engraved with my groomsmen's initials, nothing else. It's something most of my guys still carry every day and I often get texts of "guess what I just used my knife for?" True story, one had an especially bad day at work and used it to cut off his underwear! 🤣

  Has everything we buy reduced in quality over time? Has anything increased in quality or stayed high quality and durable?

  Civivi, cjrb, vosteed, bestech, kershaw, crkt, cold steel. All of the above have some pricier stuff but all have stuff that’s decent under $50 if you catch a sale.
