What Are the Best Travel Shoes That Are Actually Worth It?
I've got some NB993 I can't even remember what year I bought them that have accompanied me in many trips and are still fine. But ofc it all depends on how you treat them. Other than that I can swear by Clarks brand (they've got plenty of casual shoes for all uses). And more recently I've been using some Mizuno GTX shoes (can't remember model) but they are extremely confortable and seem durable.

Been wearing Paul Greens for years and can confirm they're solid but definitely lean more classic/conservative looking. If you want something that'll actually last and can handle resoling, maybe also check out Clarks or even some of the European comfort brands like Ecco - they do wider widths and the leather quality is pretty good for the price point

Make sure the lining is real leather, because anything synthetic just traps sweat and turns your shoes into a little damp box for your feet which is as grim as it sounds. Cheap bonded leather is what ruins most work heels, mostly because it traps moisture and starts to decay from the inside. Look for full grain leather for the upper, anything sold as guenine or corrected leather will crease and crack far too quickly. A real leather insole lets moisture escape instead of sitting in foam that never really dries... and that means far less smell over time. If your feet are wide, skip the so called round toes that still pinch in at the front. You want a last that is properly round. Which is why it matters. For repairs the outsole should be stitched rather than glued, a cobbler can actually work with that construction and it gives you more life from the shoe even if the maker economised elsewhere. A small stacked leather heel block lasts better than the usual hollow plastic heel and you can get it replaced cleanly when it wears down, the whole setup feels steadier too so it just works in a simple straightforward way. Clark’s older Chorus line and some of the Ecco Shape pumps are still worth checking, but look closely because different models vary. Ara’s wide fit pumps are good if you need width without the pointy fashion shapes.

I wear scrubs to work. Carrhart has held up quite well so I would likely repurchase. On my days off, I tend to wear athleisure for to and from physical activity and while not truly bifl, I have some 20 year old Lululemon items in rotation. I love trying to find new old stock. For footwear, Clark's have held up well but eventually the inner cushioning and sole breaks down. For people who have resoled shoes, what do you do about the internal cushioning and arch support?

I bought a cheap pair of Clarks boots in college like almost 15 years ago. I wore them most days for about 10 years, and still wear them occasionally. They've been resoled 3 times and are in pretty decent shape considering the way I've treated them over the years.

Need formal shoes that won't be thrown out later
Clarks makes low heeled pumps that are great for wide feet and decently comfortable for extended wear. They are well made and fairly timeless styles are available. I've been wearing a couple pairs for over 12 years now. They come in my actual size in some styles (extra wide) unlike most dress shoes. I do go to the store to get the right size and then look for deals online, though, as they aren't cheap.

totally feel you on torrid falling apart fast that’s kinda the tradeoff with a lot of fashion-focused wide shoes. clarks and naturalizer are usually better if you want dress/casual that actually lasts and for sneakers new balance is hard to beat since they do legit wide sizing. if you’re cool with more of an athletic look shoes with a true wide toe box are rlly good instead of just making the whole shoe bulky they actually give your toes space to spread so you’re not getting that pinched feeling you can get one [from amazon](https://lifestylesecretreview.com/dp-B0DRFZ71CMXA). for boots, clarks and rockport wide lines are solid, but honestly if you’re dealing with flintstone feet it’s worth mixing in at least one sneaker/athletic pair for everyday wear since those give the best balance of durability + comfort. also pro tip: rotate pairs if you can even the best wide shoes break down quicker if you wear them nonstop.

Get slip ons or smth that's easy closure. That'll make it simple to wear. Also a wider toe box can make a huuge difference in comfort, esp in dressier shoes so keep that in mind. I put around 1500 miles on a pair of Clarks Pro Lace in about 10 months before I went through the rubber sole. I replaced them with another pair. Clarks make some ugly shoes, but they are still decent quality.

Non-Slip, Comfortable, Restaurant Shoes
1. You can't ask about comfort or support in shoes ever as that's a personal metric and when you take Sally Reddituser's advice on XXX shoes and buy them and find out they have all the suck in the world, whom will you blame? 2. Every shoe in the history of ever is non-slip, so asking about this is supersilly. Unless you work in an industry where they require you to show proof that your shoes are ASTM F3445 certified, you can eliminate this from your brainstem as well. 3. Your aesthetic is all over the place, we don't know your sex, location or budget, so you are gonna get some shit answers but here's one: Clark Bushacre II in beeswax color, but buy new laces ASAP as their stock laces have all the suck and will break in 9 maybe 10 seconds after the second wearing.

8/10 people come to this sub and kvetch about how much they walk. BIFL shoes give zero fucks if you walk 6 steps a day or 60,000 as that's not a metric nor topic of conversation. BIFL shoes are shoes that are naturally hardy (Like say Clark Bushacre II) though disposable or Goodyear welt or other quality construction type where a cobbler can repair them good as new. So the lifespan of the shows we tout here should last you as long as possible regardless of the amount of use, even if you are Quasimodo dragging your foot around all day....a BIFL shoe will last longer than one from Payless and you can likely get it repaired.

My MIL has a pair of strappy Clarks sandals that she's been wearing for years, and they look super comfortable and durable. It's a slip on type, but has crisscross elastic straps all the way up the ankle. She wears them to the beach & while boating, so I think they're quite durable

best shoes for wide feet and high arches?
I have a wide toe box, normal ankle, high arch, and high instep, so I’m always on the hunt for something similar and often can’t just walk into a store and find something that fits. Arch supports placed strategically in heels help, as do straps on the ankle. Topo Athletic Sole Bliss Blundstones in a half size (they are wider but not longer) Duckfeet is on my list to try Clarks wides and low heels with ankle straps Anya’s Reviews helped me figure out brands with different foot shapes and what to look for, but I like a thicker insole than the barefoot movement she talks about. Thanks to her, I learned about Lems.

Looking for quality durable shoes
The shoes you described are all flat-sole types, not really supportive for a job where you walk a lot. You should have at least two pairs to rotate, so they dry out between wears. Otherwise, they will disintegrate from the moisture in your feet - one pair will never get the chance to dry out. Rotate three pairs and you will get many more wears from all three. I have had several pairs of Clarks shoes that have lasted for 10+ years. I also love my Skechers, they bounce so I am not plodding my feet in them. My On Trainers have also lasted me an age so far. Also look for barefoot shoes, which let your toes naturally widen and breathe. Vans, Converse etc confine your feet too much if you are on your feet all day.

I have nude Cole Haan heels and I got them 1 week before a wedding I was a bridesmaid in, didn't have time to wear them before hand, wore them for 12+ hours and didn't get any blisters! My three shoes I've been wearing a lot (27F, I'm american , but these are what I would pack) 1) blundstone #500s, dark brown. Classic Chelsea boots, very comfortable and stylish. Can be dressed way up or way down when you need it. 2) clarks wallabees, dark brown. very large toe box, classic style, not a very typical "american" looking shoe in my estimation. 3) adidas superstars. Very 70s looking trainers, wide toe box so they're very comfortable, and they're not the standard pair of Sambas that every american is wearing rn.

Saw somewhere else in the comments that you’ll be in London and Paris, and it’ll be autumn. One thing about quite a lot of trainers is that they aren’t very waterproof, and that could be quite uncomfortable if you’re walking around a lot while it’s raining. So if you do want to have something like trainers, I’d recommend something reasonably waterproof. Another option would be to get something like Goodyear welted walking boots – those will last ages if taken care of properly, but can take a while to break in. If you are going to go this route, I would recommend breaking in the boots before you go. I’m also seeing other people recommending things like Ecco shoes and Clark’s, and these would probably work reasonably well too. They’re not going to last as long as the goodyear welted boots, but they might be easier to get used to, and won’t require as much breaking in. They will also probably be less expensive than the boots.

I think fine shoes and boots that are made well, whether affordable or expensive, should be celebrated and cherished. Work boots and even select sneakers are a part of that too! Though I'm unsure if they work with what I wear, I think they are just badass! Maybe I'll add a pair to my collection if they come up again.
