  If you’re shopping outlet stores, Cole Haan over all the others because they put the same products in their outlets as department stores. Coach and others make a different version with different zippers, pockets, and closures.

  Brands That Used to Be BIFL — But Aren't Anymore?

  Cole Haan shoes. I have one pair that’s over 30 years old and a pair of moccasins I’ve worn every fall since my youngest was born 27 years ago. Both still look and feel amazing. They were great quality, hand-stitched leather that we could have resoled multiple times. I have several pair in my closet that are still going strong. Today, they are cheap and glued together. I wouldn’t accept a pair if you gave them to me.

  Men’s shoes for casual office?

  I have worn multiple brands of business casual dress shoes. The ECCO is by far the most comfortable “on your feet” shoe in front of Cole Haan (imo). My advice, go to a shoe store with a shoe guy and have him give you your size, try on different shoes, then go to eBay and look for good deals on the brands you liked. There are tons of great deals on expensive shoes.

  Looking for durable mens shoes

  Not bifl but most of my shoes are at least 5 years old. Some might even be 10. Sure most have rocks embedded into them and I wouldn’t trust stepping into a puddle with them but they’re fine otherwise. Got some Nike, Cole Hahn (though I think they got bought out since then) and some i bought in Colombia called Velez, but they did make me bleed once. Too small and not worn in, they’re better now.

  Comfy business casual shoes?

  I second this. Most of my dress shoes are Cole Haan and they are incredibly comfy. I have only owned the athletic sole ones, not the traditional dress shoe soles. One thing to note is they will definitely not last forever as they wear just like a running shoe.

  black flats that can handle a lot of walking/wearing all day

  No ballet flats are great for walking all day. Maybe you can switch back and forth with dressy black tennis shoes like Cole Hahn when not performing. The black flats I’ve had that have held up the longest have subtle rubber support on the exterior bottom with leather uppers and inside support from, surprisingly, the Naturalizer. Some people swear by Rothbys (which are also washable!) but I haven’t tried them and tends towards more substantial structured ones.

  Womens heels? All purpose work/dress formal shoes.

  I like Clark's (super comfortable but maybe not very fashionable) or Cole Haan (also comfortable and more fashionable). I have nude Cole Haan heels and I got them 1 week before a wedding I was a bridesmaid in, didn't have time to wear them before hand, wore them for 12+ hours and didn't get any blisters! I've worn them for work multiple times since and they've been great (business/business formal job)

  Summer/warm- Ilse Jacobsen “tulip” or similar. They are not BIFL, but I buy a pair each Season Winter/cold: Cole Hann has nice weather proof Chelsea boots that are not perfect (take super glue for the soles) Other seasons - a “socks” style sneaker looks sleeker if monotone

  I go-‘tos— the generic $50-60 ASICS off of their own website, a pair of ColeHaans, Reef Neptune in in between weather In the summer, Fit-flops Surfa sandals, Skechers sandals, Keen Astoria.

  On our last trip to Germany, my fiancee and I had two pairs each: a matching set of New Balance 990v6 and a “dressier” white/brown shoe (like an OnCloud Roger or Cole Haan Zerogrand) for the days we walk a bit less. Highly recommended, this will be our go to for travel from now on.

  I think Cole Hahn does a nice mix of comfort and style that isn’t a straight up sneaker. Lots of business sneaker-ish styles. The brand is well made, so I find it wears well. But shoes don’t have a buy it for life unless you’re going to buy classic styles that can be resoled, but that’s not generally a walking shoe.

  My husband and I both like Vans for traveling and I also have a pair of Rothy’s slip on sneakers and he a pair of Cole Haan sneakers as they’re both super comfy.

  Which women’s clothing brands do you stalk for sales? (20-30 age style)

  Salvatore Ferragamo, Eileen Fisher, Frye, Dr. Martens, Cole Haan, Nisolo, Vintage coach, and LL Bean, but I stall not only sales but also stalk second hand sites. For these brands, especially vintage, I find that these are quality.
