Got a Peugeot Pepper Mill for Xmas and it doesn't work well.
I have a Cole & Mason and I love it. It has held up several years now and I consider it a "from my cold dead hands" situation.

Pepper fanatic here. Have multiple Peugot (with different varieties of peppercorns) in my kitchen and have gifted them to many family/friends. Absolutely agree on their quality and BIFL quality. That said, I many times prefer the $20-25 Cole & Mason I bought for our work lunchroom. Very sturdy/ great craftsmanship, and a solid grind. Obviously, you can “dial it in”, but I find that the Peugot makes pepper “dust” with ease. The Cole & Mason makes larger pepper “flakes” which I sometimes prefer.

What's one item you've owned for years that's still going strong-and was totally worth the money?
I really loved the look and quality of my mom’s Cole & Mason salt grinder which she had for years and years, so I got my own set of salt and pepper, model H59408G, and let me tell you, those things are awesome. I’ve had them for several years now and the only thing I’ve had to do is wipe down the bottom to remove some excess when it’s super humid. They’re a very simple design, the top pops off to refill, and there are only like 2 moving parts, the central rod and the grinding wheel screwed into it, and the coarseness adjustment ring. Based on my mom’s experience (it’s still kicking) and my own so far, I feel comfortable saying they’ll last me for years and years. Somewhat expensive for salt and pepper grinders, imo, but they also just look nice which was important to me for something that lives on the counter.

Electric pepper mill
Just bought the Peugeot Night Electric pepper and salt grinder set. Might be worth a look. Cole & Mason also makes an electric pepper and salt grinder, but their capacity is rather small. The Peugeot has a decent capacity.
