Best ROI for BIFL Item?
A fabric shaver. Specifically the battery operated conair one.

I'm looking for a sweater shaver but they all seem to be about the same?
I usually use a cleaned dull disposable razor. I also have a conair battery depiller that is gentle on sweaters.

Hair dryers? What should I be looking for?
I never thought I’d be the person who loves a hair dryer, but here we are. 🤦♀️ I started using the Cnoir recently, and now it literally lives in my travel bag. It’s small enough for carry-on, but somehow still powerful

BIFL Bathroom Weight/Scale?
I bought a Conair (Weight Watchers branded) scale years ago. 400 Lb capacity with a 10-year warranty. Model WW26. Recommended by Consumer Reports too. It's the only electronic scale that measures my weight consistently if I step off/on. Very reliable. Has a 10-year warranty... but I don't think you can buy it anymore. The non-electric scales are "balance beam" scales. More expensive, but also accurate and no batteries.

BIFL Bathroom Weight/Scale?
Here you go: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Health-o-meter-Compact-Dial-Bathroom-Scale-350-lb-Capacity-Sturdy-Metal-Platform/13369163637 10 bucks and no electrics. That said, I have a Conair Thinnerscale MS-7M that I got like in the late 80s or early 90s. I have yet to replace the 3v CR2032 battery that it came with. I don't even know *how*, and I lost the manual. Still works. Thing is you can't get one they don't make them anymore. But here's the website in case it helps: https://thinnerscale.com/ Good luck hope that helps.

Hair dryers? What should I be looking for?
I have an old con air blow dryer from 1979. It was my grandmas & that thing is still going strong. It sucks that everything is made to break these days. Bc it really doesn’t HAVE to be like that. Controlled obsolescence. Capitalism is always going to capitalize.

What's the oldest thing you still use daily that works like new?
I stole a conair hair brush from my mom in 2003. Still use it everyday. No idea how long she’d had it before then.

What's something you've had forever that surprisingly outlasted its time ?
My little Conair blow dryer. I have no idea how long I've had it but it has to be more than 25 years old and is still going strong.

What are your favorite niche BIFL items that are currently available?
Bought a Conair wide-tooth shower comb at a random CVS back in the fall of 2000. I’ve used it every time I’ve washed my hair since. Still going strong 25 years later.

What is the longest lasting item you've bought?
CONAIR hair curler. Used every weekday for about 10 years, then once a week for another 24 years. It's still going, although the white part is now yellow.

High quality efficient hair dryer?
i have had a basic Conair 1875w for 30 years! Yes that's 3-0 years. (I've used it about 2-4x a week.) My 20 year old daughter just bought the same one this year... they are identical except for the colour and slight shape difference. We compared their performance and they work exactly the same. Not heavy, long cord, does low med and high on cool, warm and hot with a cool shot button and ionizer. I have thick straight hair and I'm done in about 15- 20 mins max. I condition my ends in the shower, use spray conditioner on the shafts and treat the tips with oil, no frizz, no splitting. I can't understand spending 4x as much for something that, let's be real, it blows air and lasts for a matter of 5 years average cost based on what the comments here suggest. As far as maintenance goes, i only clean the back screen about once every two years and it doesn't even need it. Bang for your buck, As this group claims, if it's "buy it forever" you're looking for, this is your ticket. And unlike most of the personal use driers mentioned here, it is under $75.
