Hose that last outdoor
All hoses will kink. Inhale this. Some kink less than others. Eley is the king with king pricing. Continental, Goodyear or other commercial hoses are the queen with queen pricing. Flexzilla is the jack with jack pricing. The above is the BIFL hivemind cliff notes. I have multiple Flexzillas with Eley sprayers. You need to ensure that in cold winters, you winterize them. Drain the hose....remove the sprayers to store indoors. Even though mine were drained good, both my Eley sprayers burst due to internal moisture freezing. They warrantied one (with a very nice "we'll replace but you're an idiot email) and I bought a replacement as it was my own damn fault.

Hose that last outdoor
Eley or the soft Gardena ones, otherwise probably the Continental ones. None of them are fussy but they’re all excellent. They’re still better off “away” but these all take different kinds of beatings way better than the competition. Having UV shade for your hose is the biggest thing imo.

Hose that last outdoor
They are expensive but continental hoses are worth the extra coin in my experience. I bought some cheap Home Depot hose when I got my house thing basically exploded instantly guy at the return counter said he works on a farm and uses continental exclusively and has never had an issue. I shelled out the extra cash and he was right. Much better product

Garden hose … flexzilla?
I wasted a lot of time researching it this summer. I came to the conclusion: Best: Eley, but way too expensive Great: Continental, lasts longest but kinda stiff Flexzilla, good price point, very flexible and long lasting In general I found I wasted more time overthinking it then just buying the flexzilla and knowing that even if it just lasts 5 years it was only $75

Best Garden Hose I’ve Ever Used
I love my Eley hose reel! The hose is nice as well, but definitely not the best. My real rubber Continental hose is much better. https://www.richtoolsystems.com/34-100-heavy-duty-water-hose.html

Best Garden Hose I’ve Ever Used
It’s just continental, but they’re black and actual rubber. They don’t fight you as much as those cheap pvc/ vinyl hoses that either kink easily or you have to manhandle them to use. Home Depot usually has them.

Are there any legit BIFL water hoses? The kind that doesn’t kink and fall apart?
There is no such thing as a buy it for life hose unless your life is already well more than half over. The only hose that will last 20-30 years is one made from Goodyear rubber. These would be Craftsman Sears (no longer available new but found widely at garage sales) or the Continental rubber. No other synthetic/blend/kink-free/lifetime warranty/flexzilla, etc., etc., hose will be anything near buy it for life. That’s the way it is.

Continental rubber hoses. This is what professionals buy that use 3/4 hose. I've abused mine for 5 years, leaving them in the sun and in freezing temps and still have zero issues. You can buy them from home Depot but they're pricey. I believe $50

Agree, mine has lasted until my new driver drive over it on a gravel driveway. Now it's punctured, but, I patched it and it's still holding up. Good to know if I need a new one that it's now a Continental. That is why I patched it. Couldn't find a new one. Mine has to be at least 10 years old now. It bakes in the sun but I do make sure it is drained during freezing temps

I install commercial extractors (washing machines) usually 2 or 5 ton ones. Regardless of the machines manufacturer that we go install all the hoses are Continental. These are high volume always in use machines and the hoses used are just the same Continental rubber hoses you can buy in a store or online.

It used to be marketed as ‘GoodYear Sureline (?) Washdown Hose’ in the wholesale biz. Continental bought the marketing/naming rights so now it’s a Continental. I have a GY that’s over 10 years old and still good, and just bought the Conti from Home Depot a month or so ago. It’s still US made and about $50; the rubber isn’t as heavy as it used to be, but it’s still a great hose.

I've got a 'commercial grade' black rubber Continental that is about 10 years old now and is just like new. It's hung on the side of the house and is full exposed to Texas UV rays 365 days a year. The only drawbacks are that it's heavy as hell and the first blast of water that comes out can scald you in the summer.

Get one made of 100% rubber. Not poly ethylene, not a poly blend, not “has rubber.” Goodyear and continental make good one but hard to find. They’re heavy but they almost never kink and mine are going on year 13 now looking almost like they were new.

Looking for a Garden Hose recommandation. I'm sick of buying one every 2 years. Available in Canada/Québec.
Thanks Buddy. My continental hose is a workhose. I love it. Just need to get it trough a specialized distributor.

Which items are most needed to be BIFL but currently aren't?
In that case, grab the heaviest duty thickest hose you can. That will slow down damage from UV. The super heavy Goodyear and Continental hoses are pretty thick. The expanding and even non-expanding hoses that are lightweight will get damaged first from the fabric covers rotting in the sun. If you just don’t want to move the hose but a hose reel is fine, there are some good ones that are designed as a covered box. Those will do a lot of protection.

Garden hose recommendations?
I got these [continental hoses](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Continental-Premium-5-8-in-Dia-x-50-ft-Commercial-Grade-Rubber-Black-Water-Hose-20258074/100676339). When I got my new house I wanted about 100ft of hose to get to my fence on my almost 1 acre property. I got some $35 off brand 100fter that I hooked up and it leaked instantly. Took it back guy at the counter immediately asked if it leaked and I said yes. He said they’ve been doing that. He told me his dad owns a farm. They only buy these continental hoses and have used them for years without issue. So I got two. They are excellent. Expensive but excellent

We just bought a new house! What are your BIFL items for new homeowners?
No, Ely's hoses are good but expensive. Black rubber is the goodyear/continental/bridgestone branded hoses at home depot. They're about $1/ft.

Garden hose available in Canada
Get a 3/4" rubber hose. I got mine from Continental. Canadian Grainger appears to stock some good brands of them at not unreasonable prices. https://www.grainger.ca/en/category/garden-hoses/water-hoses/c/4776?filterType=161489_ATTR&filterName=Hose+Inside+Dia.&filterValue=3%2F4+in&isWildCard=false&q=%3AtopSeller%3A161489_ATTR%3A3%252F4%2Bin&type=category&cptype=category#
