  What about tanker boots? Instead of a zipper or laces they have two belts. One is for the instep and the other wraps the column a couple times. A boot jack to get them off, and boot hook to get them on. As for zip specifically, I believe Corcoran has that. Corcoran isn’t a great brand though and the boots are really tough to brake in. They’re not known for falling apart though, I think they just cut a lot of corners in materials.  I just remembered a really cool zipper thing, it lets you make any boot with only eyelets into a zip boot.   Corcoran still makes old school combat boots. The danner fort Lewis has been a staple for a while. Belleville. McRae. Any of these brands. Search for berry amendment compliant with them and those will be higher quality.

  Goth/Punk-style combat boot recommendations?

  Honestly, I've been looking at the Thursday Boot Company for relatively inexpensive combat boots that aren't too heavy. They're relatively high quality, though certainly not top of the line. If you really want the best looking combat boots, find some older Corcoran jump boots on eBay. I find them too heavy for regular wear, but I've got some disabilities that complicate things. The new Corcorans have that same shitty plastic coating on them as shiny Docs and Solovairs, apparently, which is why looking for second-hand ones are better. You'll have to take care of the leather properly, of course.

  [BIFL Request] A work boot for ACTUALLY taking out on the field that doesn't look beauiful

  You are already looking at some great boots. One option for comfort and value: [Corcoran steel toe boots](http://www.amazon.com/Corcoran-10-Inch-Safety-Toe/dp/B00D2OBJ1A). Since these are based on the [Munson last](http://www.russellmoccasin.com/muson-last/), they will be comfortable, and the design has been made for so long that they are inexpensive. The leather won't be as good as on the Wescos or anything, but for $160 bucks it's hard to go wrong. Chippewa is a good value brand also. Their patrol/trooper style boots are also Munson last. Danner has a crazy logger/forestry firefighter boot with 8 oz leather (the thickest they've put on a boot). I saw a pair, and they are **serious** boots. For construction, I'd say a bit overkill actually. The USMC boots with steel toes would probably fit the bill okay, too. Or, just check out [KG Boot Guard](http://www.kgsbootguard.com). Imagine Rhino lining that you see in truck beds that you can brush onto your boots. As it wears out, just brush on some more to touch up. If the rest of your boot is not wearing out as quickly then I would suggest this choice, so you don't have to buy 8 lbs of boot just because one part wears fast.
