  Is a heated blanket really worth investing in for long-term use?

  I can't speak to the durability as mine's only two years old but I love my heated mattress pad WAY more than a heated blanket.

  Do oil filled heaters last longer than cheaper fan heaters?

  I’ve had electric heaters last a really long time. My old one ran for 5 years without any major issues, though it was definitely a power hog. I’ve been using a Costway oil-filled heater for about 3 years now, just during the winter months for maybe 2 months each year, and it’s still working perfectly. I’d guess it could easily last 5+ years.

  Bought a milkhouse heater at least 20 years ago, it outlasted my oil based. I did pull the oil heater by the cord since the plactic piece on the front broke.

  yup. i got mine at walmart for $9 on dale when my bunk heater failed on semi. used it for 2 winters all over usa. they are surprisingly good

  Do oil filled heaters last longer than cheaper fan heaters?

  Do you vacuum your fan heaters at the beginning and end of each heating season? Did you RTFM? Many small electric motors need a drop of lightweight oil periodically. I can't remember the last fan or fan heater I've had fail. We have three that are more than 15 years old. Oil filled heaters don't have much to go wrong. The wheels can be fragile so again, owner care matters. Fan heaters heat areas up from cold faster. They make more noise. They're lighter. We use them for spot heating in home offices and my basement lab. Oil filled radiators provide more stable heat but are slow to respond to changes in the thermostat. You have to be patient. We use one in our master bedroom which is exposed on three sides (cold) and the far end of forced air heat ductwork (least airflow in the house). We keep the radiator on all the time during heating season. It's 20 years old. We have another in the basement I use if I'm going to be spending days in a row in my lab. That one crossed the ocean in a small sailboat with me in 2006. If you're getting one season out of fan heaters that aren't shoddy Chinese knock-offs I think that's on you and your care. RTFM.

  they last a long time but ive found the little ceramic fan heaters heat better for space they take up. mine has bounced around my semi for 7 years and now using it everyday in teardrop. my oil filled is too bulky in trailer and not powerful enough for 200 sq ft shed. use diesel heater in there works great. still have oil filled but never use it. they work excellent for small bedrooms.

  I've had my oil filled heater for over 5 years now and it's still going strong. I use it daily in the colder months because my bedroom is a converted garage and has no HVAC running to it.

  The one I use in my basement office is going on 20+ years now and still works like new. For the fan ones, I had two in that same timeframe that broke after only a few years each

  What’s gift that can really surprise little boy

  I bought a costway kids’ motorcycle last year, might be a bit different from the cars you look at, but my daughter rides it all the time. For the price, quality and her love, I think the gift was pretty good.

  Items that made your life so much easier/saved time?

  I dunno about "changing my life forever" but there are some things I wish I'd bought earlier: Shark Rocket cordless stick vacuum cleaner. I hated lugging my heavy, corded vacuum around and I hated cutting hair off of the roller. I have wooden floors, a small, very dusty apartment, and like 4 electrical outlets total. The stick vacuum is also way better at picking up hair and doesn't get jammed up. Loop ear plugs. They are cute and I can attach the case to my bag. I get migraines and am sensitive to noise, and these are great to use on public transit or in noisy areas. Costway twin tub washing machine. I hate using communal laundry machines because they're disgustingly dirty and expensive. I got the kind without a pump. I just put it in my tub and fill it up with my hand held shower head. I save $60+ a month and don't have to worry about other people's nastiness on my clothes.
