One of the best places to look up, sourcing for good quality wooding cooking utensils is the Crate and Barrel. This is one very ood brand that makes all forms of acacia , wooden and bamboo utensil sets for cooking and even for baking, had to try tyhem for a gift set for my sister in law and they delivered the absolute best, surface is shinny and very comfortable.

I've had a lot of cheap, crappy couches. The cushions that lose their form after 1 year of use is the classic sign of a cheap foam, and any couch under $1k will likely have that. The exception in my experience is Ikea. They're not the most comfortable, but they do actually hold up for around 5 years. So that's an option if you like them. We landed on Crate & Barrel. It's been fantastic, comfortable, durable, and practical. Right around your max budget, but I can vouch for it.

best sofa that will last
Article sofas are solid for the price but not bulletproof. Crate & Barrel holds up better long term if you go with performance fabric. Other good options: Joybird, Interior Define, or even Pottery Barn if budget allows.

i’m pretty happy with my crate & barrel sectional personally. i cross shopped smaller manufacturers, and sure the quality is a bit better, but for around double the price. c&b may not be bifl but it’s noticeably better quality than my ikea couch that’s lasted over a decade so far. i’m expecting a good 15-20 years from the c&b.

Research durability, reviews, and warranty for long-lasting quality. IKEA, West Elm, and Crate & Barrel offer affordable, durable options. For rugs, look for wool or polypropylene. For chairs, solid wood or metal frames with cushions in durable fabrics. For a dining table, solid wood or engineered wood with a scratch-resistant finish. Stainless steel or enamel coated for kitchen equipment. Research before you buy to avoid unnecessary expenses.

Searching for a sleeper sofa with a heavy emphasis on the SOFA
I'm looking for something similar (but ideally wider than 90") and the struggle is real! So many pull-out beds, but I want a pop up/trundle version too. Not quite BIFL, but we are well over a decade on our plain white crate and barrel set. Because they always keep their base style available, it is super easy to replace one or two at a time, meaning we don't have to buy a full set when a couple get chipped.

DreamSofa vs Room & Board vs Crate & Barrel: Help us pick a (budget) BIFL sofa for our first place together!
I know this is an old post, but it’s worth noting that any big box store is actually just a reseller for other makers. People will say R&B is better quality than CB; but the lounge sofa is made by McCreery who makes many models for R&B. It’s important to look at the make of the sofa—does it have hand tied, sinuous, or flexolator supports? Does it use Kiln Dried Hardwood, and what type? Foam density? What type of down? Ticking fabric? Etc. If you can find who actually manufactures the sofa, this is a good sign as well. We just bought the Lounge at CB after looking at custom, R&B, RH, etc. Custom was still about 2x more than we spent on the Lounge. Do your research, buy in your budget, you’ll be okay.

I did the same - found a c&b couch in a wealthy (weekend home) area. They loved it but the wife decided she wanted a different color. I paid $500 but am sure not mad about it! It's holding up awesome to kids and dogs and two mud seasons so far ☺️

My wife and I bought an Axis sectional 3 years ago and it looks identical to the day we brought it home. We have friends with the same couch and have had it a decade with kids spilling on it, etc and it still looks great. No cushion sag, no issues. Essentially, it's a very well made quality couch that is proven to last. If you want a good looking quality couch and you want it to last forever, it's gonna cost you.

I had a 20 year old used c&b just like that one but green, and with a round shaped chaise instead of rectangle, I had 3 cats, 2 dogs and 2 kids and it lasted me 5 years and I had to re-home it to someone else because I moved to an apartment and it couldnt fit. Otherwise I would still have it. I am so jealous lol I miss that couch so much

What BIFL items would you add to your wedding registry?
Ours included plain white bone china—I did a lot of research and even though it feels more fragile, it’s the toughest stuff you can get. I have two sets of ‘good’ china from grandmothers (their wedding sets) that have to be hand washed due to gold and platinum detailing, so I wanted to invest in our everyday dinnerware. I looked at all of the major places (pottery barn, department stores, etc) and noticed that the stoneware and similar was all chipped in-store, so I didn’t think it would hold up well with daily use. We went with Wedgwood White, which has now been discontinued. I loved the simple lines and that the coffee cups were footed (meaning I don’t have to worry about coasters or saucers every single morning). It is an absolute joy to use something so nice every day! We just throw it all in the dishwasher and every single piece is still pristine. We also selected a stainless flatware pattern and asked for two full sets along with steak knives (Oneida Deauville, it goes beautifully with the Wedgwood White). It feels up to the challenge of a lifetime of use and is also completely dishwasher friendly. There are different tiers of flatware within a brand so definitely try to check it out in person before you register for it! We did Waterford Elegance glassware, which is stunning. We aren’t big drinkers, otherwise I likely would have chosen something dishwasher safe with a shorter stem for more regular use. We do plan to have them for life though! We purchased large drink dispensers for the wedding itself which have ended up being amazing items to have for entertaining. We have 2 Crate & Barrel hatch dispensers for cold beverages (and I’ve been eyeing a third), and 3 vintage coffee urns off of eBay for hot beverages (we use one for tea, one for coffee, and one for hot water). I’ve since pulled these out for baby showers, milestone birthdays, and graduation parties. They also look great in the top glass cabinets in my kitchen! So food for thought if you’re having a custom punch or coffee bar—you could invest in the machines themselves and get a lifetime of use out of them! Congratulations!

What's the best sofa to own
I have Axis from Crate and Barrel... 2 dogs. I love it!!!! I also use cushion covers that I got for super cheap from Temu. I have 2 sets that I swap out with. Everyone is seriously obsessed with how comfortable our couch is. Everyone has fallen asleep on it because it's so comfy. I feel like it's going to last the rest of my life, into my 90's. Seriously.

Is there an Silverware equivalent to Corelle
Liking crate and barrel caesna after 2 years. Knives generate micro rust here and there - they seem peripheral at worst. Spoons and forks are fantastic. Additional set items are great too. Matching grapefruit spoon, teaspoons, iced tea spoons, serving spoons, salad serving spoons/fork and charcuterie board wares also. Bought 12 sets and only use the first 6.

We just picked up a C & B Axis sectional in Douglas Nickel fabric. Crate says the Douglas fabrics are the hardest wearing. Seems great so far. My understanding is the Axis line has been around a long time and there are a lot of reviews similar to the person above.

Buying a quality couch that can last more than 2 years?
Just buy some used mid-level stuff like Crate & Barrel or Room & Board, then get some money out of it whenever you move. I would hold off on higher quality new stuff until you plan on being in a home for years. Avoid Ashley and similar. You could go to IKEA and try the Kivik couch. I’ve never sat on one, but have read several posts elsewhere that said they’re are reasonably comfortable and solid for what they are.

Advice: buying furniture (daybed) online
a decade ago i used a formula where the couch price divided by $100 = the years it will last. a $300 couch will last you three years before the cushions start wearing, fabric seams might start busting and the joints start to wobble. these days, it’s more like $300/yr. also, moving the couch will quickly shorten its lifespan, so take a year off for every time you move / disassemble it. you can beat this formula by buying higher quality furniture used. but options and styles will be a bit more limited. unless you plan to move / sell it in a couple years, i would highly recommend adding $500+ to your budget, just to get something that will last. it is wild what couches cost these days, but realize anything under $1000 new is junk. *do not buy from Wayfair,* as they are a step or two below even Ikea. Ikea makes some decent stuff. but it too will start to fall apart in a few years. look for used West Elm, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel and their modern line CB2. each of these used to make high quality furniture but have fallen from grace in the last decade. there is still good stuff to be found, but just make sure it’s built from solid wood (pine is ok, oak is better) and held together by traditional joinery / bolts, not some quick assembly / proprietary system.
