  Horrible advice for someone like me with 20 year old injury 7 screws plate and osteoarthritis. I cant make it 10 steps in olukais before feeling my cfl atfl and whatever the one on the inside called... delta? Anyway yea... pretty much crocs slides and asics nimbus the only thing I can tolerate.. olukais look great 👍  but walking and standing requires more than good looks

  What’s the verdict on good house shoes/ slippers?

  what i’ve learned so far about slippers: the sealed off rubbery shell (many use it for indoors) kills breathability. but ones with textile upper have good airflow. so you don’t have to deal with swampy feet like after an hour. something with a fabric body helps your feet breathe. i’d recc [these crocs](https://grassrouteguide.com/dp-B01A6LX3M4D). cos they got faux suede sole. makes them feel soft. plus the sole isn’t like a chunky block. so you can wear them all day without noticing. i mean they’re not built like tanks. but these are good for runs to the mailbox and lazy days on hardwood floors. compared to the usual crocs, they feel less plastic imo.

  I have a pair of crocs flip flops that I bought in 2018, still comfortable and in good shape. My kids crocs also held up surprisingly well, one pair is 2 years old and still in great shape which for a 9 year old is something else. I know they aren't the most aesthetically pleasing option lol but in terms of holding up and bang for your buck I think they take the cake.

  I use crocs slippers en can get 5-7 years of good use out of these. The plastic croclite is pretty heavy duty. Not really bifl but hard wearing. The other brands gues a lot less. Birkenstock sandals can be rebuild and testing this atm. Birkenstock isn't good with water so never wearing in the rain. A lot of problems with these also in durability also in the Birkenstock reddit.. pretty much only bifl if you avoid rain. Give good care.

  Crocs are not exactly buy for life, but they are a quality slipper. With extensive use the bottom tread wears out pretty quick. But thats just if you're trying to work in them. Unbeatable as around the house shoes tho. I have an indoor pair and an outdoor pair that have lasted almost a decade now.

  I love my croc slides but they’re not bifl. No ‘plastic’ type material slides are bifl. They’re cheap. If you only wear them in the house they will probably last quite a while. My current pair is a year old and holding up fine.

  This isn't a full list by any means (what I'm about to list I mean, not talking about yours), but here are some things we've had good luck with that I didn't see on yours: vintage stainless flatware (there's a good bit out there and they last pretty much forever aside from when a piece accidentally gets tore up in the kitchen sink disposal) oxo kitchen gadgets (I'm a particular fan of the stainless steel ice cream scoop, but we also use the smooth edge can opener, and bottle brushes) crocs (I know they're not necessarily BIFL but they do last a surprisingly long time, particularly if you just need them for normal around the house and outside errands) corelle cast iron lands end tote bags

  Kind of a strange recommendation but you could try ballet flats from crocs! They are comfortable to walk in, affordable, and easy to clean. They might be the opposite of sweat proof if you wear them with bare feet but if you wear no show socks instead then you’d be good!

  I literally had crocs that I used to wear from middle school until I started HRT and my feet got bigger at 25. People hate on them but they last forever, are insanely comfortable to me, and they’re easily washable. I love my croc loafers as well, super comfortable but yet professional enough for meetings.

  i dont remember the exact year i got my first pair of crocs but maybe 2011-12 been wearing them until this year and they were still wearable tbh but i was decluttering the house and they had to go and also pair of doc martens boots the super basic what every edgy girl wears not the expensive handmade line they have i think it was 2010-2009 maybe and i still wear them till this day and i will till they will be protecting my feet from rain, snow and cold but i remember i had to fight with my mom to get those she told me they will fall apart in two years

  I got a pair or Hiker Crocs a couple years ago, they have a bit of a platform on them, been wearing them almost daily this entire time, I've worked in professional kitchens in them, gone on runs(miles) in them, hikes, skateboarded(properly do kickflips, boardslide rails), etc etc and they are still good as new as far as comfort goes. They do look dirty and they are originally white but I love them.

  My birthday is coming up. What brand of Sandals should I ask for?

  Sandals I think are pretty subjective. Based on foot shape, where the strap rubs against a skin or bone, if you’re flat footed etc. I have a leather pair from roots around 15 years old, have a thick sole and good grip on the bottom. Don’t know if they still make them? Also love crocs sandals in the summer, super light and comfortable and they’ve really upped the style in the last few years so you can’t even tell they are crocs, they’ve got a few gladiator versions too. Even have the luxe mellow as my indoor slippers for years, gifted them and they become everyone’s favourite, great for standing all day.

  AirPods and Crocs. I’ve always been a person that has had headphones in and AirPods were an absolute game changer for day to day life. As for crocs, the memes are true.   I have the croc recovery slide, customer service recommended them as the most comfortable crocs, their sole is about twice as thick as the normal crocs. I’ve never tried any other rubber shoes so i can’t compare, but they provide really good support while staying cushy, and they go on sale fairly frequently. I recommend going down a size.

  I have many house slippers. I have insight but no answers. Glerups or off-brand Felted wool on Etsy with suede soles are great for indoors and do fine on a few steps outside. They help keep feet warm and breathe well. They give no support to the foot. I have clogs and booties, my next pair I will try a rubber sole so I can have some protection for a few steps outside hear and there. Crocs. There are tons of options. My classic clogs were fine, but I left them outside one day and the sun warped and shrank them to hell. I have some other models that are nice still. Birkenstock. I recently got a pair of cork-soled sandals and clogs. I'm currently breaking them in, so still a bit skeptical of why everyone loves these so much. I'm really hoping they hold up to the hype.

  Certain models of crocs, esp those w croslite material have odor resistant properties. Maybe try washing your flip flops regularly?? It’ll reduce the odor. Also, u can get odor fighting insoles as well, they help reduce the odor to a GREAT extent.

  For serious odor resistance, olukai and oofos are your best bets, especially with their moisture wicking materials. crocs also hold up well with their croslite foam even with heavy daily use.

  I have the croc flip flops and they are a non-permeable rubber and are super comfortable on your feet. I truly don't see how they could hold onto a smell unless they are soaked with sweat - and then you could just rinse them off..

  they claim rainbow flip flops last forever. These Fossils are literally Fossils LOL.. these were my first pair of flip flops. These are 20+ years old.

  They do not make them like they used to that is for sure. I had some From around then as well, and I literally wore them into the ground. I can barely get a year out of a pair these days if I'm lucky, regardless of how much I spent on them. Honestly, I said screw it and finally got a pair of crocs and could not be happier.

  If you like the lightness, you m8ght like Crocs. I'm sure they do a sandal similar to this one, and even though they're plastic mine last me years and years of pretty frequent wear.

  Going to Europe, suggestions for comfortable, not-ugly walking shoes that will last?

  I have worn the croc tennis shoes for over 3 years now and they are still in fantastic condition and have helped my feet so much. I should say I typically am NOT team croc, but I am team those since they look like normal shoes

  Crocs. I've had them 30 years and they are good as new, just too smooth on the bottom for walking on oil-slicked parking lots. Nothing I couldn't fix if I wanted to.

  I have had good luck with non-slip Crocs and Sketchers work shoes (the kind that look like sneakers more than the clogs if front of house). I have tried Gortex running shoes for easy cleaning but found them too hot. I find any kind of boot heavy and therefore tiring or hard on my joints (props to everyone who uses steel-toed boots at work!!). I haven't found a truly BIFL shoe for people who work on their feet all day. I work in healthcare and rotate two or three pairs through four-ish years (although now I just wear straight-up running shoes). I did have a pair of Sketchers that somehow made it seven years with new insoles every couple years. Some of my colleagues like Dansko shoes but I find the heels are so stacked I feel wobbly. I have done some work in restaurants and also never found anything truly non-slip in tiled kitchens that don't have mats, but that was a long time ago.

  Is it front of house or back? Honestly I don't think bifl exists for kitchen shoes. I would stay away from leather as it just won't hold up to the wear and tear of kitchen work (hot grease, harsh cleaning products, etc) Lots of people I know have moved on to Crocs (they make kitchen specific ones that are non-slip and closed-toe). They're modestly priced, comfortable, and pretty damn durable. AND you can get ones with tacos on em

  I wore Crocs on the Clock for a year straight in a busy kitchen and they still looked brand new when I stopped working there. If I were to go back to a kitchen, it would be Crocs on Clock on my feet. They’re not slip and stain resistant.

  Crocs or slides with socks. And you need SEVERAL pairs of slippers to rotate if you sweat that much. They need to completely dry out between wears.
