Experience with the Dakine warranty claim for backpacks?
Funnily enough, they approved mine and sent me a new one about a month ago.

Experience with the Dakine warranty claim for backpacks?
They mailed it out to me in August 2025. So all in all, it was about 10 month process. LOL. But, they seemed apologetic for the delay and let me pick what color and style I wanted, so I guess it wasn't too bad. Just keep on them!

Dakine!! The color will definitely fade once you’ve had to wash it a time or two (only ever wash gently with super mild soap, I ruined a 15 year old bag using diluted vinegar and detergent + removable shower head this year) or from being out in the sun a lot but these bad boys last damn near forever as far as threading strength is concerned since they’re generally designed for outdoor adventures.

Backpack suggestions?
Since going into middle school I’ve used two Dakine backpacks for school. One for about 8 years(I replaced it because I wanted a slightly smaller one, the bag was still in great shape) and the second I used from my junior year through college and I still use it every day now 10 years later. My wife also has had one for about 10 years and still uses it regularly. Both are still in very good condition. I highly recommend.

DaKine mission lasts more than 12 years for me and has no signs of damage, especially that part on the photo. I switched it for Aevor Travel because I liked the design better, but it is still perfectly fine .

Backpack suggestions?
I have a pair of Dakine Backpacks that have held up over the years one doesn't get used much any more and just hangs on a hook, and then the other gets used on occasion. Then Also Osprey backpacks are great and their all might Guarantee is great. We have 3 osprey packs we use for cycling 2 hydro packs and one commuter back. My wife damaged her commuter pack running it through the dryer and we sent it off and they fixed it for free no questions asked. It is the real deal. Best Practical & Stylish Backpack for Teachers?
I'm a teacher and I have been using the same Dakine for 11 years. I travel by bike and train to work, and carry a laptop, multiple books and a lunch box. They don't make the model I have anymore, but their other bags seem to be just as strong.

I got my Dakine in 2009! I usually only use it for travel but man it’s been all over the world, and back!! It still looks brand new. It’s seen some shit.

What is your most unintentional BIFL item?
My sister had the same experience. After buying her kids cheap backpacks every year she bought them each a Dakine last year. They’re all still pristine. Her kindergartner drags hers on the ground daily. Still solid.

What is your most unintentional BIFL item?
Parents bought me a Dakine backpack for high school in 2010. I still use it everyday. I have tried to switch to other backpacks since the design is a bit immature but the new ones break and back to Dakine!

I’ve had this Dakine backpack for ~17 years and have taken it on all my trips. The zippers on this thing still work like they are new. All my other backpacks have had their zippers break off so this is my old trusty pack.
2 year late reply to say thanks. I have a mid 90s DaKine Daytripper that needs a refresh.

[BIFL Request] What is the most "bomb-proof" or "bullet-proof" backpack you've ever purchased?
I bought a Dakine backpack in high school, about $60. I would normally never spend that much on a backpack, but most Dakines comes with a lifetime warranty. I've spray painted it twice now (chemical damage), and it's been pulled on and flung around, brought to beaches and soaked in rain. It's been about 5 or 6 years now, no broken straps or Zippers or anything really, just chipping spray paint. Also a very roomy backpack too, I always like a roomy backpack.
