Why clogs? Having worked in many hospitals as a vender, I know Dansko clogs are super popular with doctors and nurses. I think that zero-drop shoes are a far better answer, however. As for the blisters, are you wearing tall enough socks? What are they made out of? Are you wearing the correct size shoes? Are you tying the shoes properly?

Look at the Dansko Margo, they seem to match your requirements. I bought a pair for a similar trip, but I haven't gone on it yet. They are comfortable out of the box and I've been wearing them regularly. Not buy it for life as I'm sure they will wear out though, but Dansko has been good quality for me so far.

Literally!! Nobody gets it lol. I wasted so much energy trying to find boots I ended up getting the Keenes (Revel 4?) and an insole with arch support, which made them feel less wide as well. I know the insoles are probably going to have to be replaced after a season, but I guess $30/year for insoles is better than foot pain. Plus I think it means these boots will fit an orthotic whenever I get around to that. Which is a long way off considering the new doctor shit I've gotta get done 🥲 We need to petition Dansko for a snow boot. I use their sneakers and clogs and they're the GOAT. I wish you luck in finding your own snow boot

Just want to say that I totally get it. I have plantar fasciitis, a host of chronic illnesses, and way too many doctor’s appointments. Why is it too much to ask for a boot with arch support? It shouldn’t be. Shouldn’t have to run around all over the place to get boots that fit especially given how expensive they are. People don’t understand that you have to be deliberate about where you spend your energy because it’s finite when you live with chronic illnesses. Dansko also usually works for me. Wish they made a snow boot. Please let us know if you find a good one. Good luck.

Foot massagers that are actually worth it?
Multiple sources. Understanding that "good shoes" are going to be more expensive, but hype and popularity are often overpriced. Also, accepting and embracing that comfort and support probably doesn't look "cool". I don't believe in "breaking in" shoes; if they aren't comfortable when i buy them, they are not worth it. I dated a guy that sold euro comfort shoes (think Dansko), he got me hooked on shoes with a wide toe box, and was especially important since i had had bunion removal surgery by this point. However, best i tend to toe walk, cannabis danskos are not for me. Trying on shoes in a shoe store or department store shoe department and walking around in the shoes I'm trying on makes a big difference. At the least, i got an idea of what size i am. When ordering shoes online, i try them on with plastic shopping bags over them so i can walk around my house and not get the soles dirty so i can return them. I also have absolutely no problem returning shoes. Reading times of reviews. Waiting for sales and discounts. For non-slip soles with a solid/non-porous toe box (for work), i like the "professional" shoes from SpringStep shoes. For casual or non-work, I've been loving Abeo shoes, their metatarsal fit.

Look for work shoes for chefs, nurses, etc Also google shoes for "people on feet all day," orthotic shoes, and read the reviews. Dansko is quite a good one for comfortable and supportive shoes, they started as a brand specifically for nurses I think. You can also pair supportive shoes with add-on orthotic insoles for add-on comfort. My own thoughts based on what I've tried - I don't recommend Easy Spirit or Skechers, despite what their marketing says.

hoka, red wing, dansko all get thrown around a lot but tbh it’s less about the brand and more about what the shoe is actually built like. look for good cushioning that doesn’t flatten out, a solid heel counter, a tiny bit of lift in the heel and slip resistant tread (non negotiable on restaurant floors). avoid anything that bends like a slipper if you can fold it in half your feet are gonna hate you by hour 6. also helps to rotate pairs so you’re not beating one down every single day. linking [a list](https://videoguidelines.com/shoes_s_standing) here that has some decent options

What wide shoe brands do you recommend?
Soft Spots as sold as Zappos or Comfortiva! They come in W and WW. I have a pair in W and I’m a TRUE REAL 1000% WIDE where normal shoes don’t fit but idk if I’m a WW. Also, I have a pair of Mary Jane’s in wide by Danskos that fit. Other Danskos don’t fit in wide but those Mary Janes do! I have a pair of wide Teva Hurricanes in the croc material that I use all summer, and Hokas in wide for walking. I feel the pain of trying to find QUALITY wide cute shoes!

💯 I came to recommend Dansko. They last a long time and are actually comfortable. I was born with some deformities in my feet and legs which were fixed when I was small, but left life-long consequences. Dansko is the only brand of shoes that I can wear when standing for long hours.

You could take a look at brands generally recommended by people in occupations that hve a lot of standing or walking - nurses, chefs. etc One of these is Dansko and another is Allegria (women) Dansko comes in W and has a lot of designs. They started out and built a reputation as a supportive clog for nurses over many years. But now I notice they have a lot of other designs. I think most , if not all, of their shoes have good arch support for standing and being on your feet. The model I wear of theirs is not the one they are most known for - its their EVA clog but I've used it for three years now (one pair) and it has good support (with a built in removable orthotic too) and is holding up great. You could check out the reviews on amazon to see what you think. There are also other brands that are recommended by nurses, I think if you search for Dansko the rest will come up. Another one for support would be Oofos. Its a recovery shoe/sandal, and their covered recovery sandal is supportive but also very soft and comfy. I don't know if its something you can wear for your situation, but they also have shoes. I think (?) it is unisex so it would not be narrow, but probably something to research if you need a wide toe box. For standing long hours, the key thing that is also important is how supportive the shoe is (stuff like distributing weight evenly, support the arches, etc) and whether it supports your foot so this is a general category you might want to research, if you want to venture out of sneakers.

One other thing you might try: when I need to stand so day in concrete or just on my feet well day, I reach for lowa renegades. Softer soles ankle length hiking boot. Unreal support and comfort

I blast through my hokas, i don’t know how nurses do it. I’m a heel striker and they begin to wear in a couple months. Everyone I know says that it’s worth breaking in a pair of dansko shoes. My actual suggestion is this: get two pairs. I find that when I’m standing all day, and I’ve compressed down to a pain point in my feet/back, what I really need is a *different* shoe. That way I can have the sensation of a fresh support. And I can prevent any blisters or wear issues. Or perhaps something more structured for the start of your shift, and something more cushy for the end?

Merrel Moab 3s are tough as nails
Not exactly, and nothing that consistently holds up the way Merrell used to - across different lines and styles. That said, I have found that a combination of different brands will fill certain voids, like Teva for water shoes, sporty sandals and insulated slipper-shoes; Ecco and Vionic for casual/street shoes; Dansko and Earth Shoes for more fancy work pumps, etc. For hiking and trail scrambling (I used to run, now I scramble, lol), I rely on old Merrells and occasionally a truly ancient pair of Vasque leather boots that have been re-soled a few times.

I don't buy the kind with buckles; I just prefer the regular clog. I dont disbelieve that you bought some that had velcro. And if you're mad that your favorite model is the one that succumbed, thats also a valid point. But I have no idea which model that is, and a quick zoom in on the photos of both the one I linked and the one you linked, combined with the information in the description of both says they're buckles. I don't know how else to tell you that. I don't know why you're so convinced there are no buckles left. They clearly still make them without velcro. If I sort their entire inventory of women's shoes across all categories, a whopping 15% of products have velcro. One. One is a clog (or what I would call a traditional clog. A couple others are classified as clogs but have open toes or are more mary Jane styling). The rest are sandals, casual shoes, and Mary Janes.

Danskos are polarizing. Some love them and some hate them. Everyone's feet and gait are different. Low arches vs high arches, plantar fasciitis, wide vs narrow feet, pronation vs supination. The bifl aspects of durability and cost to maintenance/lifetime ratio on Danskos are amazing though. Whether a particular individual finds them comfortable or not is irrelevant to the bifl conversation.

I wore Danskos every single day of the week, 12+ hours a day for years, managing restaurants. When I finally took a day off and went hiking in sneakers, my ankle blew up like a balloon. The hard soles keep your knees, ankles, and back SO aligned that whatever little cords and tendons balance your ankles don't have to work as hard. To me, that's a recommendation. Just don't wear them 100% of your life. Plenty of people my age who spent their careers walking miles of concrete floors have fucked up knees and spines, but mine are fine.

Seconding Dansko. They have a bunch of shoes that are stylish (not clogs) and they're super comfortable and supportive for walking. I tend to favor a dresser shoe over sneakers so that I don't need to pack a second pair and dansko usually has something that will work for both walking around and going out to dinner.

I have had good luck with non-slip Crocs and Sketchers work shoes (the kind that look like sneakers more than the clogs if front of house). I have tried Gortex running shoes for easy cleaning but found them too hot. I find any kind of boot heavy and therefore tiring or hard on my joints (props to everyone who uses steel-toed boots at work!!). I haven't found a truly BIFL shoe for people who work on their feet all day. I work in healthcare and rotate two or three pairs through four-ish years (although now I just wear straight-up running shoes). I did have a pair of Sketchers that somehow made it seven years with new insoles every couple years. Some of my colleagues like Dansko shoes but I find the heels are so stacked I feel wobbly. I have done some work in restaurants and also never found anything truly non-slip in tiled kitchens that don't have mats, but that was a long time ago.

Dansko clogs with regular insoles (not memory foam). They last forever, provide great support, and are great for standing long periods. The only caveat is if your friend has weak ankles—mine rolled a lot in them. My other rec would be shoes that can be resoled.
