what winter coat are yall using?
When I was on a work trip to Denmark I got a Didrikson winter parka from a second hand shop. It's hands down the single best winter coat over ever owned. I lost about 50lbs of weight and am still trying to wear it as "over sized" because it's just that good. I'll probably take the plung and buy a new one from their site (tarrifs be damned) because nothing else compares. I also have an Aritza Babaton parka I got in Canada on discount. It was before the brands quality took a nose dive (pre 2018) and while the zipper is tricky the coat itself is good. Vintage Babaton might be a good route as well.

Best women’s parka without down insulation
I live in Finland, where winters can be quite harsh and temperatures drop as low as -30°C (-22°F). I've been really happy with my Didriksons parka. It's quite warm and also waterproof. I've had mine for 6 years and it's still in good condition.

Best women’s parka without down insulation
We bought my wife a primaloft (synthetic down) coat from Keela which a a Scottish brand that supply uk mountain rescue. I’ve also got their men’s insulated jacket. Both are extremely warm. (Uk winter suitable) They have good support for repairs as well though there may be charges for this. Didriksons is another brand that have lasted me well and do long women’s coats.

Looking for winter jackets that won't shed
Just don't get down. The synthetic materials are pretty good nowadays, and there is no big environmental concern since you rarely wash a jacket, so the microplastic problem is limited. I have a Parka from Didriksons (Sweden) and it's great. It should be well suited for Canadian winters.
