Box fan equivalent request
Just get a good air purifier and actually filter the air and do something with the spinning fan blades rather than just noise. We have the [Coway AP-1512HH air purifier](https://a.co/d/h6rbpKv) and keep it on fan speed 2 all the time day and night. It gives a good semi quiet fan noise that is comforting for sleeping. Alternatively, we also have the [Dohm classic sound machine - made in USA](https://a.co/d/2ZjGUF1). It has a fan that makes the noise and you rotate the housing to change the size of the air holes and that changes the sound volume and pitch. My wife used to use this but thinks it’s too loud now. The Coway air purifier has a nice sound for sleeping.

A fan that makes great white noise
Dohm sound machines are some of the best white noise machines. They actually use a fan inside. That said, I got a digital version from their sister company for my newborns and it works just as well.

Earplugs that block out snoring but can still hear my child
I'd get a dohm noise machine. It'll drown out smaller noise but I assume you'd be able to hear something loud inside your house depending on how far away. It's adjustable. I've been using the same one for decades.

Yep been using the Dohm I bought in 2010 while working away from home and staying in a motel for months. It stays running 24/7 for the last 14 years. Turned it off a half dozen times just to pack when I move to a new city.

I am 41. My parents put a used dohm in my room as a baby, so I have been hooked for life. The original ran until I was 32-33 before I finally bought a replacement. And even then, it still worked but only if it was sitting upside down, idk why, but that worked. Either way, my wife decided it was time to upgrade and brought home a replacement. Which, almost 10 years later, is still going strong. Button always up.

I have owned Dohm units for 10+ years, and run them 24/7 (ADHD + remote work + light sleeper). My experience is that they will last ~5 years if run continuously before the motor burns out. You’ll want to remove the lid and dust them every so often. These aren’t BIFL but last long enough that I keep coming back to them. Occasionally you’ll get a rattler or one that craps out early but I’ll take that over brown noise via an app.

I second the Dohm recommendation. . They are mechanical, very simple design; the sound doesn't have any whine or pattern. And they are as close to BIFL as you can get.

I like my Dohm. It's over 10yrs old, and is run 12hrs a day, minimum.
