  Everyone's swearing by their brand but I feel like this is one of those things where you don't have to do endless research to BIYFL. Buy one you like and use it until you can't anymore. I've never had a plain water bottle break or leak on me, I only lost them. I used to just clean and re-use plastic 500ml drink bottles for like 2 months at a time before recycling. Then a few years ago I got a free promotional Dopper, and I found 2 Mepal bottles and another Dopper at the thrift for 50 cents each. I have one in my bag and one by the bed, the other two are for my partner. The Mepal bottle might crack after a decade or two but the Dopper will probably outlive me.

  I get gifted water bottles regularly, I have a couple of doppers that I use a lot, but also a stainless steel thermos bottle. Doppers are definitely more versatile though.

  I didn’t downvote you, but happy to point out why I think you are. In reference to the post, the fact stainless steel isn’t immune to rust is irrelevant, since it’s not the reason it looks like it does. The poor quality of the steel used and poor quality finish are. With regard to the mistake being having boiled tap water, also irrelevant. A competent water bottle wouldn’t have this problem. Like I said; been using boiled tap water for almost ten years on my zojirushi, Yeti, Doppler and other thermos bottles and none of them have this issue, after literal daily use with boiling tap water. You might feel like you’re contributing technically correct statements, but they’re not relevant to why this bottle is of poor quality.
