Wool winter jackets. What are the thoughts?
Oilskin canvas outer jacket, heavy wool jacket underneath. Wool is not waterproof, nor wind proof, and it gets caught in branches. Waxed or oiled canvas coat fixes all that: tough, waterproof and wind proof. I like drizabone for affordable duster still coats and vintage wool jackets from woolrich or Pendleton.

Men's rain jacket that's actually waterproof
Driza-Bone, made in Australia. Originally a oilskin cowboy type full length jacket company but they make more modern styles now. I have a few and one that was my Dad's that's 40 years old and still good as new.
