  To me quality time outside calls for quality packs

  Eagle Creek & Osprey are my favs. I've had great customer service with Thule as well but they just don't have the same quality as Eagle Creek and Osprey. I've checked bags on airplanes and travelled tens of thousands of kilometers with these bags and they mostly still look brand new.

  [Serious] Anyone concerned about a “Lifetime” warranty from Sterling Pacific, a luggage company charging $2k per piece and that’s only been around since 2018?

  I’m also a big fan of Eagle Creek. Even more now that I discovered their warranty is lifetime and covers wheels (most either cover them only for a short time, or exclude them as they consider wheel damage as expected wear & tear). My bag had to be shipped to a luggage repair shop (cost me $25) for retrofit wheels due to it being older than they stock wheels for, but Eagle Creek covered the cost of the repair and return shipping!

  "premium" carryon luggage is a weird phrase to me.  I bought eagle creek more than a decade ago on the advice of a touring stagehand. They had a set that survived round the world: busses, hotels, trains, and planes. 2 years round the world touring was a good enough recommendation for me.  It's been 17+ years and I just now replaced a set of wheels.  It's not shiny, it's not new, and it's somewhat out of style, but it works and meets my needs.  If I had anything I needed protected in a hard case, I would find something different.

  Suitcase needed for rough environments

  Go for a tough 2-wheels duffel like eagle creek or Patagonia spinners won't last on rough roads. Ballistic nylon, YKK zips and replaceable wheels are key for durability.

  Duffle Bag Recommendation

  I've had good luck with LL Bean and Eagle Creek. If it's going on the roof I bag everything in a trash bag first then into the duffle because no zipper is going to be water proof at 70 miles an hour.

  I travel quite often and have tried several toiletry bags. They just aren’t worth the space and weight. A small packing cube from Eagle Creek is what you need. Durable, quick drying, and lightweight. I’ve had mine for 5+ years and it’s still pristine.

  Aesthetic backpacks with a laptop sleeve on the back?

  I have backpacks from both Eagle Creek and Osprey with separate outer laptop sleeves. They're both older bags and not currently sold, but both brands build a backpack that lasts and are worth considering.

  Luggage for a poor college student.

  Take a look at the Eagle Creek No Matter What rolling duffels. You can find them online for ~$110 for the large. Great products with a great warranty. I have a large No Matter What duffel that I've used for a few years and a few hundred flights and it has hardly any damage, just a few small puncture holes. I recently purchased the extra large duffel and the new material seems to be better for water proofing.
