Do smart home items really work in long term?
My hue bulbs are very very good and I have some almost a decade old. Smart thermostats (ecobee especially) never really go bad either, and they're easy to replace. Smart switches are a good way to go. Except in niche cases and small products from small companies, I think you can expect 8-10 years from most smart home products.

Do smart home items really work in long term?
Most smart items I’ve bought have lasted considerably past the point of “I wish they would fail so I could justify upgrading to new tech.” My original Ring doorbell and cameras are going on 8 years old. My first Kasa outlets are going on six years (did replace some when doing other outlets). Upgraded smart locks for new tech, old one went to MiL’s house and is 10+ years old. Original Ecobee going on nearly 10 years old. Our original Roomba was probably the biggest new tech casualty - good and bad, it worked just as well brand new as it did 8 years later. I couldn’t justify buying a top Roborock while my Roomba was still kicking, so I ended up with a Eufy like 70% off - barely smart but it is so much quieter and does an awesome job cleaning.

I have auto bulbs. I’ve only replaced 1. I have an auto outlet. I whine at Google to start my espresso machine so it’s warm when I get up. The auto vacuums I use. Buy better ones with auto garbage can. I got given a bunch so I’m not complaining. 2 Google hubs. Got at 50 and I’m fine with 2. I use smart life bulbs. I did a led custom lit headboard. Love it. Led strips- learn to solder. Led smart light on espresso machine. Love it. I bought everything on sale. Everything. Love what I have. Love smart bulbs. Ecobee smart thermostat is worth every penny. Not Honeywell. Now recommendations. Buy brand auto empty auto vacuum. If you have a lot of black outs smarter bulbs with hubs allow you to decide after a power outage if they turn on. Cheap ones just turn on. They consider it a safety issue but it’s annoying to use smart life to turn off lights after a power outage from bed. 1st world problems am I right.
